to be honest this setting needs more than three insults/curses sparks and slontze have become horribly overused in my opinion hahaha I keep forgetting about 'calamity' especially since I think sparks is a uniquely Newcago thing considering that every movement would cause sparks and all. all the sparks. everywhere.

@Silver: having the same power set isn't a bad thing. Alternate suggestions for the name though: -Boombox -Blasting Cap -Detonation -Explosionator -Deathboom

This is the link to the decision: http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/22583-question-6/page-52#entry223555 basically, you guys agreed that forcefields must have entropy and were a type of energy. the fact that certain things can pass through the bubble also implies to me that it isn't a solid, but a special type of energy or plasma. but as the newb, I'm just parroting what everyone else said- that no matter how Malliw described the forcefield, it was energy and Disruption could get through it.

Well, we had this discussion in a collab group with the Astoria fight. Namely, how energy absorbers and forcefields interact. We didn't really come to a final answer, but decided that Disruption (who can absorb electrical energy) could move through shields at least. At most, he could use them as a never-ending energy source, or drain it until the shield died. The latter makes sense to me unless Bubbles is actively maintaining the shield- Prof's shields were not invincible- as evidenced by their weakening when gifted and the fact that it was a huge expenditure of power to contain the explosion (an indestructible shield would have required no extra energy). So perhaps, Converter would be able to walk straight through it. And at worst... she could absorb the whole darn thing. What do you guys think about this dilemma?

Well at the moment, if she has activated her blanket absorption then she will not die from anything Rainmaker throws at her. Butif she hasn't yet... she might be squished by that hailstone at least if she doesn't see it coming. Logically, she would expect an attack of the sort (she saw what Rainmaker did to the Ghoul) and be ready for it. Unless she is stupid, which she might be.

Ooooh, is that what Koschei was doing? Gifting healing and then retracting it? I always assumed he just had a power where he could heal people (not through gifting just by healing) but could undo any healing he had performed. yes, as long as you leave a space for her to breath haha and like Comatose said, she could heat herself up with the kinetic energy from the air and hailstone (lots of energy in that!) by converting it into heat. but like they said, maybe she dies in this battle? Then she returns in a few days, more wary, and runs into Iconoclast. I think that's a good idea. I won't be posting any Iconoclast stuff until this is resolved, to give him time to get back to the house.

It wasn't really a Rending when he stopped the Obliterbomb. He was just hit with a huge blast of corruption when he used his powers so intensely, to the point where his willpower was overwhelmed and it occurred to him that these Reckoners could kill him. So he killed them using his powers, which hit him with more corruption, and so on so forth like a snowball down a hill, unstoppable. He can't control the corruption until he wants to, and he doesn't want to while he is corrupted.

Well Steelheart was probably buff since he was a football player, a bully, and then a security guard. And the other Epics don't seem universally gorgeous or buff. But, considering they age more slowly than humans, they probably have other physical benefits as well, just subtler ones. They probably can't get too out of shape even if they tried, their powers likely speed up their metabolisms.

I tend not to think ahead and predict things in books, intentionally. I like your prediction that Steelheart's weakness was being thought a Hero. That would be an interesting conflict for someone- be outwardly good and be killed by every tom dick and harry, or be evil and hate yourself?

the rioter could be an emotional manipulation epic? But i guess the corruption would warp his character pretty severely. what were you thinking in terms of their mission against Iconoclast?

that's fine I would be honoured! Iconoclast has been all around the Fractured States in the years since he manifested powers. He has left Epic rulers alive when they are High Epics and he cannot get around or figure out their weaknesses, sating himself with destroying their kingdoms and allies. Its entirely feasible one High Epic, enraged that his/her fiefdom has been overrun with Ghouls, would contact these kids to hunt down the one who did it. I like the idea, first time i've seen epic-derived tech in the RP.

I had this idea for an Epic that I want to incorporate somewhere but I can't figure out where.... Name: Ordnance/Barrage Primary Power: Creates a large blast of energy capable of completely destroying an area roughly the size of a house block. Can make bigger blasts with extra concentration and time between them, but not smaller ones. These blasts are orange/yellow in appearance, about the size of a car, act like solid objects (gravity acts upon them in a way it doesn't other energy), and explode upon impact to the aforementioned house-block size. Depending on the time O/B takes to fire each blast, they can have ranges going from one kilometre to 20. Secondary Power: Focused Spacial Awareness: O/B has a rough spacial awareness of all objects within a 20 degree angle of vision wherever he is looking. Picture his eyes as laser-pointers, and 10 degrees to either side of the lasers he has awareness of. The range of this "sight" is 20 kilometres. Tertiary Power: Teleportation: He can teleport up to 1 kilometre away in an instant, and has to recharge for 30 seconds after every teleportation. Weakness: Small, enclosed spaces- if he cannot stretch his arms and legs as far out as they can go in any direction, he will lose his powers: Was abused as a child, and frequently locked in a tiny cupboard by his overly strict, cruel parents. One time he nearly suffocated to death until he managed to break his way out. In his Rending, blew up his house with his parents inside and levelled his whole block. Modus Operandi: Bombarding cities and towns from a safe distance and teleporting away before anyone can retaliate. If the town doesn't have an Epic scary enough to drive him away, he will keep going until every building in the city is levelled. I just like the idea of having a living, Epic artillery piece. And I can't decide whether Ordnance or Barrage is a better name.

that is true, making it a bad analogy, however, I do think Steelheart would have that level of control- if he can fly perfectly with just wind, and lift thing with little whirlwinds, then I think he can create a blanket gust of wind away from him. Although, not all over him at once, since that would leave just a void without air around him. I think I agree with you though, the mechanics of this sound incredibly weird to even make sense, and seem to fall a bit outside what her powers were originally described as. However, the fact that she has absorbed the energy from bullets (that she could see coming) means she has to be able to "mentally" set her power to absorb energy before it touches her. Like raising a shield when you see an archer firing an arrow. Alternatively Silver could just default to the original "absorbs all energy nearby thing", but perhaps with slight alterations- absorbs all energy starting from a few inches from the skin (maintaining her clothes) and a few small gaps in the field around her mouth so she can breath. @Silver: I would recommend doing that. an interesting thought. Could she make people-plants if she buries someone? O.o Matrix-style?

well it isn't active all the time. It would be the same as Steelheart using wing to blow attacks away- it isn't a second PI, just using a secondary power for defense.
