  1. well I remember a joke post someone made where Shia had an axe and regeneration and his weakness was the Shia Labeouff song that sounds really cool also really cool. and some arenas could be more complex, like mazes and labyrinths filled with weird dream-creatures and traps. and the whole salem-witch association makes Soulcaster a fitting inhabitant. although if we are concerned about the number of Epics we have, maybe we should set this elsewhere? What if Soulcaster does not hold fights between willing candidates? What if he teleports around, ambushing Epics, stealing their consciousnesses and forcing them to fight for his amusement? So there isn't any single location, just Soulcaster and his personal fortress somewhere, making Epics from all over the FSA or the world fight it out for him. mostly, although I've only read the first few and last few pages of Portland. haha would it worry you if I told you we are planning on bringing Obliteration here at some point?
  2. Lol. "hmmm... don't know what to do. I'll just stand here, they'll notice my magnificence eventually!" This guy is a corrupt Epic douchebag to the tee XD
  3. I like Sunspot. Interesting that this newcomer is the only one that is immediately hostile, other than the cultists and pandas. And while he has little defensive abilities, the ability to basically blind anyone who looks at him is infinitely useful.
  4. well there are about a dozen PI's among them, the same number in Newcago, so they fulfill the quota for a few states is all I'd recommend reading all the pages, it is really the only way to get a good idea of what is going on. once you have, decide what the best position for him is- member of the city guard, hostile newcomer, friendly newcomer, etc.
  5. Very interesting information!
  6. So for Newcago to have thousands of Epics, it must have basically every Epic from a half-dozen states :0
  7. I just can't comprehend such a small number of epics.... 1:1000 made sense to me. 10'000 seems tiny. Sure there are High Epics, many of whom are very destructive, but they are balanced by many useless Epics. Even Steelheart killed 17'000.
  8. This 1:10'000 ratio thing is screwing me up.... That is way smaller than I thought my head canon was set on 1:1000.... that seems quite hard to believe, honestly. It messes up our canon more than anything else unfortunately :\
  9. Vin is pronounced "VAHN!?!?" O.O
  10. All good points. Although I think what Jasnah did was not murder at all- what would those men have done to them? I doubt they would have simply asked for their money and left them in peace. She killed three thugs who would have kept murdering and robbing and raping until someone else killed them in turn. It is true that she sought out a fight, but so did the thugs. it isn't much different from someone who willingly goes into war, to fight other people who willingly go to war, and kills far more than 3 bad people.
  11. Indeed, it probably wouldn't have worked regardless. Meta powers must be rare though, as they are so powerful. I bet normal Epics hate Meta Epics
  12. I'm good, just need the Destructors to reply to Hellfire and offer him somewhere to sleep. Poor guy is exhausted and in pain :'(
  13. That is quite interesting. subtly is also out the window with Iconoclast, but I figure he is a unique case
  14. Hellfire glided closer to the ground, his armpit wound hurting like Calamity. The Epics below him were still retreating, the diamond wall having vanished long behind them. Too tired to continue flying, Hellfire gave himself one last boost before landing roughly. The boost had taken him a dozen metres ahead of the group, and they slowed to a stop as they approached him. Gripping his side in pain, Hellfire staggered towards his battered allies. They were on guard, but could see he posed little threat. "I am Hellfire." He stifled his annoyance at them for retreating, although by that point he had already been losing anyway. "I came here from Australia to punish Lucentia for attacking my fortress. Figured you guys could help me. I reckon you want to get even as badly as I do, eh?"
  15. ah sorry, my bad, I didn't read it properly, you were 100% clear. That's pretty cool then. Like Coma said, while we usually associate forcefield with spheres, that isn't technically necessary. Well, rescuing the hostages would put him in good stead with the Dalles. If he just walks into town with them and explains that he rescued them from the Pandas they probably won't shoot him. Maybe then he is told to wait while Vondra/Autumn is contacted and Reader sent to do a reading of him? well if she collects oxygen, she will suffocate herself too. Even carrying some in a tank won't help, because it would still be taken. But I think on principle yes, she could, as long as she holds her breath but the issue is, if you take all the oxygen in a giant dome around you, the air from outside that dome will come rushing in. So really it won't be gone long enough to suffocate anyone, unless she keeps doing it so the area becomes a huge black hole of oxygen rushing into the void. yeah, the Destructors can contact him to help or something. That last bit sounds a bit op. Wouldn't that leave a huge sphere of nothing with just people and animals confusedly looking around in confusion before falling to their deaths in the giant bowl of missing earth just created?
  16. That's a pretty good point. Deathpoint was certainly confident it would have worked, and why try if it was something as mundane as causing physical damage? He'd already seen his insta-kill fail completely, why would he think something else would work?* Unlessss, it was a meta-power that cancels out at least one of Steelheart's powers. *although, given Faultline, we know some Epics are too delusional/stupid to think that they can beat Steelheart without any defensive abilities or with offensive abilities that will demonstrably fail. I mean, Faultline can sink things..... and Steelheart can fly. She has nothing that could hurt him, even if he wasn't invulnerable. Stupid, stupid Epic.
  17. Lol, reverse corruption. Instead of being creatures devoid of empathy, Epics become creatures of full empathy, being forced to empathise with everyone around them
  18. I think that was to do with him being afraid that he was using his powers too much, and he didn't trust himself to. David was convincing him that he could handle it, and be a hero with his powers, but he didn't think so. But his resolve was weakened enough (and circumstances desperate enough, also due to David) that he still used them and hastened his path to the dark side. That would indeed be an interesting weakness. So theoretically in that moment before he went to kill David, David could have killed him. Maybe his powers wouldn't have worked against David at all (although actually, the forcefields did work on David earlier). That's another interesting thought, one that ties in with disliking games of chance (sine he cannot predict or alter the result), but I wonder what the symbol of that would be? If his powers failed when faced with the unknown, then his powers would have failed during that encounter. Its also interesting to consider the change in his personality regarding the fear in his eyes, going from a Prof that would fight an invincible Steelheart to a standstill, to Phaedrus who fled when he couldn't murder someone instantly. But consider also, the main difference in the second case, other than the evil, is that he had no idea why his forcefields weren't working. The unknown factor.
  19. Although, perhaps some sort of Two-Face Epic attacked the school and flipped a coin to decide whether to kill Prof or his students? And the students lost. That seems pretty traumatic, a near-death experience involving a game of chance, like how Sourcefield's fear of cults was symbolised by kool-aid, even unpoisoned. But then, if that is the root of his fear, why did he hate them beforehand? Was it the cherry on a cake of chance-hating? It doesn't feel right. Well it feels right, but makes no sense and doesn't feel right at the same time. I do think his fear has something to do with how he held out so long, though. He was so driven, so motivated, so strong-willed, for ten years. His greatest fear having something to do with eventually succumbing to the corruption seems right, but i can't think of a specific thing for it.
  20. .....well yeah, that makes sense now. Prof's weakness is games of chance. throw dice at him and he loses his powers
  21. I think the references to him hating games of chance are interesting, but I cannot see a trauma where a game of chance was involved.
  22. I think Monster by Imagine Dragons works well, for Epics who are succumbing to the corruption and feel it growing, or the inner voice of Epics who've already succumbed and are horrified at their actions. Lyrics: http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/imaginedragons/monster.html
  23. Africa tends to not be as bad as people make out. But compared to the US in terms if resources and military power, they are going to have a much worse time handling epics and will likely collapse much sooner, killing fewer Epics first. Of you think about it, lots of Epics would have been killed before the government passed the capitulation act. Consider Deathpoint: no defensive powers, but was acting like a High Epic. If Steelheart hadn't of shown up, either David's dad or the swat that arrived soon after would have killed him, although he would have taken a few down first. How many Epics died during or soon after their Rendings? At the beginning, probably a decent amount, if they weren't invincible.
  24. Like I said, the removal of corruption would be a little better, but its not like either ending leaves the world in a good place or doesn't involve mass chaos.
  25. She knows his weakness, so if he turns she can use it against him to kill him also, I'm a bit iffy on his PI. It instantly kills anyone who tries to attack him? That's a bit op, and no other PI acts like that. How about he just turns into code himself when attacked?
