  1. Blinks is not too bad. On a Firefight reread (ridiculously minor and irrelevant Firefight spoiler)
  2. It would actually probably be better in theory to keep him away from the direct action- he gifts all his power to his squad and then sits back, completely avoiding any corruption. The only issue is that his squadmates would have to return to him wherever his was to refill after a bit of fighting, which would be much easier if he was fighting with them.
  3. Yeah, David said that he estimated gifted powers worked within a dozen miles of Prof. Do at the least, the team could operate anywhere in the city and the surrounding area without trouble. They'd just need to return to him for refills, obviously.
  4. Well the fact that Arsenal can create enough generators for everyone means that yeah, fuel is the only thing they might be concerned about. That makes sense. If anyone would have power it would be Thoughttown.
  5. that's true. Rainmaker could easily spin turbines to create as much power as necessary. And they probably have some electricity Epics that help as well. that's quite interesting, I didn't know that. I think in most cases and in most places there wouldn't be any power beyond the occasional generator (the books were pretty clear that Newcago is rare for even having power), but our cities are a bit of an exception with all these creation-Epics going around. Plus, with the amount of destruction we will wreak before the events of Steelheart, there will truly be nothing left power-wise.
  6. I was just re-reading Firefight and I was curious, what is the power situation in our cities? Portland: the grid was destroyed by two electricity Epics a bit ago, wasn't it? so no power whatsoever, yeah? The Dalles: any power? Arsenal could probably whip up a generator, so probably the military buildings do at least, yeah? Corvallis: I doubt Cornucopia could grow any generators. Does Corvallis have any power? And if so, where from? Astoria: No clue.
  7. We could call them Iconoverterix, or Converterclastix, or Phoeverterclast
  8. I like the idea of a dream team of Iconoclast, Converter and Phoenix. The Triple Threat of Terror
  9. at least now we know your Epic weakness
  10. I'm cool with Iconoclast rescuing Converter, or Insight doing it and then putting them together, that would solve the question of how they meet/form an alliance. Either works for me. Iconcolast could probably break her out (if the defences aren't too bad and if he organises a distraction or two first), and it is certainly something he would try once he heard of her.
  11. Hahaha we can arrange this for the next game day mwa ha ha what does Broadcast do, power-wise?
  12. Also, if you appreciate the amusement value enough how about Broadcast gets killed by Iconoclast (or a Ghoul), right on the street?
  13. I like how the list of Epics in the MEE Wiki page is filled with dead people XD
  14. I also like to imagine that if Steelheart and the Metal ever fought, Steelheart could keep moving (albeit slowly) no matter how much pressure the Metal applied to him Cuz thats how he do.
  15. yeah, I think he simply has too strong a will, as well as his incredible power (he can't even be drowned or suffocated, after all) to be astralnapped. I like the idea that Steelheart is so strong that he is invincible against things that he technically shouldn't be if his skin or body were simply invulnerable.
  16. I don't think that's a good idea While fun, it would not be something I could seriously view as even potentially canon. And heck, I don't think I could take it seriously as an actual part of the RP. More like a side-game, lie the OOC thread. Which would be cool I guess, for the lols, but I think an actual Epic fighting dream-arena would be better and more fun in the long-run. How often do we use the OOC thread, for instance? and being in pony form doesn't really add much to the fights- it isn't like the characters have to grapple with the realities of their new ponyness, or the fallout from it, or anything else, they are just fighting each other, but as ponies. Every single character would have the same intro post: "I am a pony! what the hell! What is this!". It would make roleplaying more difficult, as we have to remember that we don't have "arms" anymore It seems like it doesn't have much value beyond the initial lols, which I think would fade quickly. Meh, it just seems like it would make the whole concept really silly and too light-hearted to take seriously as an RP.
  17. You know, I think that is a good bet.
  18. If she made a layered lattice of diamonds held together with very thin diamond parts, and spaced out appropriately from each other, then the museum would hit the top layer, break it, then hit the second layer, break it, etc etc, forming a cushion that should slow its fall until it is fine.
  19. If the museum is falling she could just make a pillar of diamonds beneath it to hold it up. The building would be damaged by the impact but its better than hitting the ground.
  20. "Why.... why am I a horse?" SC: A pony "Why.... why am I a pony?" SC: Oh, uh.... no idea. Weird effect of my powers. Ah well. Whatcya gonna do?
  21. oooh! and maybe it was triggered other times too! Firefight spoilers:
  22. that's true, but just sending them home is the laziest way of being evil. He has had his fun, theoretically he has no actual reason to keep his word. Eternal torture would take too much effort and if he wipes memories and such, then he could pluck characters from our other RP's for a day or so and return them none-the-wiser. Or they can keep the memories and just be really pissed off.
  23. of course, I had forgotten about them. Technically Calamity would be the first, perhaps tying with Dawnslight. Still, the first Epic Calamity turned after that first year of inactivity. The first Epic from the world's perspective.
  24. why would you name yourself after that place? that is a terrible legacy to want to emulate Those are some cool fire Epics. what if Soulcaster doesn't give any prizes? He says he will, and then he just wipes the victor's memory and sends them home with an evil laugh, because he is a douchebag like that.
  25. Brandon answered in an AMA recently, and confirmed a few things: 1) Newcago has a current population of 250'000 2) there are 1000 Epics in Newcago at the start of Steelheart and biggest of all 3) the Epic/human ratio is 1:10'000 at the beginning. I am honestly quite surprised, its taken me a few days to grapple with the idea. This is less Epics than I had thought by an order of ten. This implies a few things to me. 1) there are less "minor Epics" than I, at least, thought. I was thinking that a large amount of Epics had minor, or even useless abilities (like Curveball, but potentially no combat application). But if there are 31'890 Epics in the US roughly, and a large amount were useless, how on earth was it destroyed? We know Steelheart killed 17'000, so he makes up for only one useless Epic. Obliteration and Regalia probably make up for a few each as well, but what about the rest? How could the Epics kill so many people if so many Epics have barely any extra combat ability than humans? Therefore, I surmise that the number of useless/minor Epics is relatively small, perhaps 20-30% of all Epics. 2) There are more High Epics than I thought. I was thinking that High Epics are 1:1000 with normal Epics. But if there are a thousand normal Epics in Newcago and a dozen Epics with a Prime Invincibility, perhaps the ratio is more like 1:100. This means that out of 31'890 Epics, there were 318 High Epics. Imagine 318 invincible gods (although not all of them with offensive powers to match their invincibility, like Fortuity who lacked offensive powers) running around the country, destroying everything and claiming cities for their own. The alternative is 32 High Epics which seems very unlikely. So 1% of Epics are High, 20-30% are useless, 10% are (as confirmed in another question) possessed of both useful and unique powers, that leaves 59-69% of Epics left. Now, these Epics do not have Prime Invincibilities, and they don't have useless powers. That is between 18'800-22'000 Epics with potentially very destructive powers and limited (not perfect) defensive abilities. Regalia for one had no defensive powers, but killed many, many people. Earthquake Epics who could destroy cities were mentioned, chances are they did, in their rendings especially. The tragedy in Nepal has shown us how bad an earthquake can be in the wrong place. Weather Epics causing tornadoes, fire Epics creating city-sized infernos, super-strong and tough Epics smashing everything around them. Its easy to see both how the government lasted only a year with Epics popping up in greater numbers. They could kill some Now I'm curious who the first Epic was. Who was the very first person to manifest powers? What were their powers? Useful? Powerful? I think they would have been mid-level, without a PI. That way everyone can be confused, scared, baffled, but eventually kill him/her. Everyone is a flutter. Then it happens again. And again. And again. Each time a worse massacre than the last. Soon entire towns or cities are being destroyed in Rendings, not to mention the destruction the Epics do if they survive the response. Then High Epics start appearing, impervious to bullets. And THEN, people get really worried. I'm just imagining the early days, before the Collapse, where the media is only talking about the latest Epic massacre until they are too frequent to mention. The internet, filling with bloody memes about Epics....
