  1. ^exactly. Unless something supernatural is going on, they should be able to see him relatively clearly. Therefore, something supernatural must be going on. Is there a word for that logic, by the way? like the logic i just used to support my opinion that Calamity "cloaked" his details in some way? lik "without X, Y would have happened, and since Y did not happen, therefore X is true".
  2. Plot twist: turns out every major character is actually a secret Epic.
  3. Hey Mestiv, I was considering that perhaps Atrophy could live nearby Drainer, and perhaps become involved in whatever plotlines you are planning for them all? Thought you might like someone but yourself to roleplay with haha we can take it to PM if you like the idea? Well, there are lots of ways you could do it. Like this hypothetical possibility: >Sentry established for a few years as the omniscient watcher of Salem, reporting all the goings-on to Mouldbreaker/Soulcaster (probably more likely Mouldbreaker as the first port of call, as he is the chief enforcer of law+order. >Heartsleeve shows up, wanting to work for Soulcaster, but admits to him/herself outloud that it is a ruse to overthrow Soulcaster or one of the other powerful Epics and move upwards. Unknown to him/her, they didn't see one of Sentry's pictures nearby (and being new is unaware of her ability) and Sentry overheard. >Sentry thinks "oh interesting.... perhaps this could be a valuable ally. I shall make contact and threaten to reveal their planned treachery if they don't work for/with me to take over. just an example of how they could get together btw, if you know how to make google docs, that multiple people can edit, that could be a good way to make posts together.
  4. that is true, although Regalia also had the same problem- when her weakness is triggered in the book a few times her projection stops. Her weakness is a little harder than simple insults, however. its up to you, ultimately. and I doubt many insults would be scribbled, probably more revolutionary graffiti if anything (like SOULCASTER WILL FALL, or SENTRY IS A TYRANT or something) as opposed to kids insulting her appearance for the kicks. Dissension would equal death in Salem as in most Epic kingdoms, after all.
  5. a question about Sentry's weakness though- so if anyone mocks her appearance, or otherwise implies she is ugly/inadequate/fat/etc, she loses her powers temporarily? does this count through her pictures, since she can see and hear through them?
  6. there was only one- it must have gotten far enough from the melee to not have been killed by Kensh, so was still wandering around.
  7. yeah, that too EDIT: You know Voidus, for a slowpoke you sure are good at ninja'ing
  8. Well essentially, you just write an intro post where your character shows up in town. Someone will direct them to administration building or something where they can register for the fights (you know the deal with Salem, yeah? televised dream-arena fights between epics and such?) and get accomodation for the duration of their stay. "donations" will also be required at some point. But Voidus will give you the proper information, the above is just what I did.
  9. Hey Mrs Voidus! I am new! not new-new but new enough that I've never seen you post haha
  10. actually i thought he just had a minor healing factor? I know that (i forgot their name) wanted him to have a permanent disintegration field on, but we said no because that would mean two defensive powers. Cant remember what we settled on though. So if he just has the healing, a shot to the head (unexpected) should kill him outright.
  11. To answer- no, not really. We don't have many vanillas at all, in fact, beyond NPCs but if done well a human villain could easily fit in, especially as an evil underling to an Epic. Its just hard to be an independent evil boss when super-powered sociopaths run around, taking over your evil lairs and poaching all your henchmen.
  12. I guess it depends how fanatical in their "worship" this cult is. I can't imagine many Epics fully dedicating themselves to anyone or anything but themselves. Obliteration is an exception obviously, as are a few in this RP, but in my opinion most members or allies of this cult would just be members to fulfil their own separate goals as a means to an end, or they want to destroy lots of stuff for their own reasons without actually "worshipping" Obliteration. Frequency could always start the cult, or be a "founding member" per say, perhaps transferring his devotion from Koschei to Obliteration, or viewing Obliteration as a reincarnation/possessed vessel of Koschei. Other than that I could see certain individuals joining up, depends on the way it all works out. can't C4 like exude an explosive goo? can she blow him up for us? ....please?
  13. And in terms of this evil cult/faction, who would be in it? New characters or mostly existing ones?
  14. have fun! 1: her running into one or both Iconoclast and Atrophy would be fun. She likely knows Atrophy and tries to get him looking nicer and he has no time for her singing crap Iconoclast would likely join in singing but only to be extra creepy and sinister while killing people. 2: impersonating an Epic would be hard as she can't replicate their powers. and on the cult topic, Iconoclast would likely ally himself with (although not join) such a group, to a point (he doesn't want humanity wiped out, just driven out of cities). Perhaps Frequency and co could turn their worship to Obliteration after Koschei fails to reappear? And I recall the suggestion ages ago that Flashpoint, Edgerunner and other decent Epics could form an army and try to protect the state from evil Epics. Perhaps they try and conquer the state (like the Coven) but with the intention to protect everyone and let humans rule themselves, but things go south as the situation gets worse.
  15. sweet. don't put her up against Deathskull though, she would lose instantly see you then!
  16. Welcome back Winter @Quiver: very interesting powers! I like it
  17. ^this exactly tip- read the etiquette threads that are pinned that will help you "get" how this works, per say.
  18. nice post Blaze one issue though, with synchronization between posts. Blossom told Rainmaker to do the speech before the field workers left- but going by Atrophy and Iconoclast's posts, they have already left for the fields.
  19. #thanks #atleastAtrophywillneverknowourpain #heyhehasn'tearnedityet
  20. yeah I agree- especially since most Epics would have more than 4-5 servants, and you couldn't fit more than that in one house. so they would be kept together in other houses.
  21. 1) I was thinking the same thing- right at the start we were playing around with the idea that Rainmaker liked to use vanillas for everything, like delivering messages, even when using technology would have been more efficient. But perhaps both could be used, and the radio can play pre-Calamity songs or something as well, perhaps. that is true about vanillas, but the more important ones in governemtn positions (equivalent to Steelheart's "upper class" sort of fellows, would need to have a bit more of a wider knowledge of the city to effectively help run it. Epics can't fill every administrative or management position, there aren't enough, and they aren't necessarily skilled in those areas (or would view them as beneath them). But yeah, event updates would be for the Epics. 2) well except for Iconoclast Well in Steelheart we see children employed making weapons in the Factory, and given a rudimentary education in maths, geometry and english, and the smart ones are taken to be a part of the upper class, which would require even more education. They also enjoyed movie nights occasionally. So education exists in any city that wants to keep children preoccupied and prepare them for a productive life of service to their Epic masters. That is true, I forget how long Corvallis languished in chaos before Rainmaker came. 3) that is all true, but i figure vanilla houses would be very cramped (on purpose), many being share houses (like the one Summer lives in) where vanillas sleep and then go to their master's house to work. So if 5 or 6 vanillas on average live in each house, only a quarter of the houses are taken up. That leaves thousands of houses (although some would have been destroyed or severely damaged before Rainmaker seized control) to parcel out between Epics. I don't think every Epic would have more than one, at all. Minor Epics like Firefly, Blackthorn and Drainer would only have one. But more useful Epics would certainly want bigger and better houses as befits their usefulness, but you can only stretch the scale of usefulness so far when just looking at how nice one home is and how many servants you get. So how do you reward a super useful Epic who is more useful than another but you don't have any nicer homes to give it? give it two nice homes!
  22. hahaha XD SHUT UP! I KIIIIILL YOU! which is basically his reaction to ever unnecessary sound people make
  23. Comatose and other Corvallis RPers: Some questions I had considered regarding Corvallis: 1)would there be some sort of daily newspaper equivalent, written, published and distributed by Blossom's department? Not necessarily pure propaganda (all the time) but just a small local newspaper to let all the Epics (and perhaps more important vanillas) know about daily goings-on, events, parties, in the area, new arrivals, that sort of thing. I was going to have Atrophy reading it but I didn't want to just invent something like that without asking 2) what become of children in Corvallis? are they housed separately? are they educated in the Corvallis schools? are parents allowed to frequently visit them? Were they denied that right, and now without happiness to mollify them they are pissed off that they are not allowed access to their kids? 3) given the large number of houses/buildings in Corvallis, and the fact that there are not enough Epics to fill them all, would it be logical that more powerful Epics are given several houses across the city that they alternate between, or even multiple adjacent houses that they combine into a single "compound"? Even if Corvallis has 2x or 3x the number of Epics I picture in my headcanon and the pertinent stats post, there are a lot more houses than them, but a fair margin (according to Wikipedia it has 22'000 households). I'm just thinking that they have such a large surplus of houses, strictly one per Epic seems a bit stingy for Rainmaker
  24. As the morning light filtered through his blinds and illuminated his sparsely-decorated room, Atrophy awoke. Light stabbed into his thin eyelids, despite the heaviness of his curtains. Opening his hollow eyes and yawning, the Epic reached onto his bedside table and checked his mobile. 8:00, on the dot. As always. Atrophy tapped the screen a few times, and amused himself for a time with a delightful game involving matching pieces of fruit. As always. As the mobile ticked 8:30, there was a gentle knock on his door followed by a young servant boy, bearing a plate of toast and a steaming cup of herbal tea. The boy tentatively set them both down on his bedside table, and furtively retreated once dismissed. As always. Smiling contentedly, Atrophy slowly devoured his breakfast, and sipped his herbal tea. As always. "Life is good", Atrophy thought to himself. His breakfast finished, he threw off his light blanket and swung his skeletal legs over the side, rising to his feet. Atrophy wandered over to the windows and threw open the blinds. Light flooded the room, and he drank in the beautiful Corvallis scenery. Trees and birds. Truly beautiful. "It is a miracle that they have lasted so long. I'll have to thank Cornucopia personally next time I see her." All the trees in the other places he had been had long since been cut down for want of firewood or fuel. As he gazed out of the window at the quiet street, nothing disturbed his view except for several Corvallis Security vans, no doubt carrying field workers. He could already tell that today was going to be a good day. Turning away from the window, Atrophy began getting dressed. He always wore the same thing- a plain shirt, jeans, and a white turtleneck. Unlike many Epics, he did not feel the need for fancy clothes, or elaborate costumes. His mere appearance was usually enough to let anyone know what he was. Atrophy left his room and went out into the loungeroom, finding a crying servant and a few others comforting her. "What is going on here?" He enquired quietly. "Why are you annoying me with your sobbing?" The servant started in fear, and most fled. The crying woman looked at him with terror in her eyes and she tried to dry her face with her clothes. The only other servant that had stayed with her, Nancy, rose to defend her. "Mr Atrophy, she is really sorry, its just that her mother died last night in the riots and-" Her explanation cut off in a strangled gasp as Atrophy extended his power and deadened her vocal cords. "Did I ask for an explanation?" As soon as he finished, he realised that he had asked them what was going on. damnation. Scowling, the Epic shooed the muted servant away and turned his gaze towards his grieving staff member. With a thought, he weakened her tear ducks, preventing her from crying further. The woman shivered in fear as he glared at her. "Now..." Atrophy began, "grieve if you must, but grieve somewhere you won't annoy me doing so. If I hear so much as another pathetic sob from you I will kill your lungs. Understood?" The woman nodded fiercely. "Excellent. Now get back to... whatever it is you do." She gladly hurried off. Atrophy sat back down, and opened up an old copy of Eragon. It was his fifth reading of it and he still couldn't find any of the sequels, but it was something, at least. A simple little thing. And for Atrophy, it was the simple things that mattered.
  25. I don't think simply having your weakness triggered counts as "facing" it. Otherwise any Epic whose weakness had been fully triggered would have turned good, and that clearly hasn't happened. Since most epics know their weakness, it must have been triggered for them at one stage. I think facing your fear means intentionally and willfully exposing yourself to your fear/weakness, willingly. A strong element if choice exists I think. If sourcefield had of removed her mask and willingly drank some, that would have counted I think. The issue is, what could drive a selfish sociopath to do something like that?
