  1. Well, in case anyone still believes that was a WGG, I got a note confirming Adavantos' loyalty. Also, given the proof we've had so far, I'll also vote for Meta. Also, just so that the day doesn't wind up "Meta. Meta. Meta. Meta. Meta.", here is exactly what joining the Making Useful Items Out Of Parts Conglomerate entails: You send me or Adavantos the parts you have. (except duct tape, which can't make anything) We combine them with other people's parts and tell you when we make something using your parts. You, and everyone who contributes a part, get to vote on how the device is used, and then we'll have someone send in the order for who you agree on. If you can't agree, we'll alternate turns. One more thing: if everyone searches for an item, then nobody will get lynched. Since I'm planning to search, I'll retract my vote so as to not confuse the vote talliers. (This is very stream-of-consciousness-esque, but that's generally my style.)
  2. Cycle Six: Involuntary Secondhand Manslaughter Perseus sat on the air above the throne, watching the action with great interest. Although there weren't many of his subjects left- nearly half were dead- the remaining ones were still arguing just as furiously. Only four of the ten had bothered to make a case at all, but no two of them agreed. Oh wait- Tyler just changed his mind. Despite the last minute switcheroo, he would have had Lanky killed anyway. Steph was just too persuasive for her own good: one of these days she might finger herself as the one to blame. He dismissed the irrelevant thought and stood. "Lanky! You have been found guilty by a trial of your peers! Is there anything you'd like to say in your defense?" Lanky stood. "Even if you're killing me, I'm still going to go... out... with... a... BANG!" A small sphere streaked toward Ken, who made no attempt to dodge. Looking closer, Perseus would have gasped, if he ever gasped. There was a knife sticking out of his neck! Ken was already dead! The sphere continued on its path inexorably, and struck its target in the face. The antimatter- for that's what was inside- exploded. The world turned white and loud. Luckily, the same person who'd directed the earlier blast threw up a forcefield and sent the explosion, with the body, up and out through the hole in the roof left by Calamity's swift exit. Once everyone there recovered, Perseus sent a minion to search his rooms. If Ken had been a Reckoner, there would be something to incriminate him there. The man returned, crestfallen. Nothing. Blast it. What would it take to find one of them? They couldn't be hidden that well, could they? He rounded on Steph. "Why were you so sure about Lanky? What do you know that we don't?" She looked teary and perplexed. "But I- I liked Lanky. I would never vote for him!" "You just did." "But I was pointing to no one! I didn't want anybody to die!" "Hmph. Looks like you're going to be charged with involuntary secondhand manslaughter. You have the right to remain silent. Anyone you vote can be changed against you. Do you have any questions?" "I never wanted this. Please, just let me go free." she said. Steph just looked sad, not angry or vengeful. She had a good argument too. If she hadn't wanted to do it, then why should she pay the price? "Fine. Go. But I better not see you doing this again..." Clanky(Lanky) was lynched! He was an Epic with Matter Disruption and Accelerated Healing! Elkanah(Ken) was killed! He was an Epic with Invisibility and Heat Vision! queensteph(Steph) was charged with involuntary secondhand manslaughter, but found innocent! Vote Tally: Clanky: 3; queensteph, Lopen Lopen: 1; Clanky RippleGylf: 1; Kipper Spectator Sports: Hellscythe received a potted oleander plant from Cultivation! Orlok was not seen this cycle and Perseus is getting annoyed...
  3. Vivenna doesn't need to feed on people.
  4. If Vivenna can change her age, did we just discover another method of immortality in the Cosmere?
  5. Well, I don't really know what to do at this point. I'll probably vote for someone in the day, but I don't think I'll be able to do a full-fledged analysis.
  6. Cycle Five: I. Third Time's the Charm! II. There's Always Another Secret Perseus walked tiredly through the halls. The fifth day of the purge, and his subjects still hadn't been able to find a single Reckoner. Hopefully that would change today, but to be realistic, it probably wouldn't. It seemed like the only way to find the Reckoners would be to let them kill all the Epics, and then take them out himself. It wasn't like they had any idea what his weakness was. After all, it wasn't that common. And with all the telepaths around, it wasn't safe even to think about private things. Finally reaching the courthouse, he blasted open the doors with a wave and rode the vapor in the air up to his throne. What could he say? He was in the mood to remind his Epics who exactly they were dealing with. He reached the seat, and levitated it as well, settling down to hear the latest opinions. Perseus did not feel like listening, so he decided to appoint a lieutenant to record the votes. "You! Mike Durbin! Write down what they say and wake me up when you're finished." "Certainly, Lord Perseus." Mike looked eager to please. He obviously would have some ulterior motive, but at this point, Perseus couldn't be bothered to care. He pretended to start snoring. "Ah, my Lord? The people have spoken- Renee is the one they have picked." Immediately there came complaints and shouts from the cloud, claiming that she wasn't who they wanted to kill. "It actually didn't tie? Congratulations, Mike. You have been promoted for not annoying me." "Thank you, Lord Perseus. It is most appreciated." With a flick of his wrist, Perseus encased Renee in ice except for her head. "Have anything to say in your defense?" She looked resigned to her fate. "Well, there is one last thing I'd like to say to Mr. Durbin there, but it's a bit private, and I'd like to whisper it to him." A sudden magnanimous impulse struck Perseus. "You know, I've always liked you, Renee. Mike, go listen." As he bent down to hear the whisper, silence reigned in the court. Perseus liked her, but she would still die? That meant it could happen to anyone else. Even any of them. Perseus grew impatient. What was taking so long? He nudged Mike Durbin with a small tendril of water. He fell over, and a gun he'd been carrying went off. The Epics began to discuss the latest development. Mundanes would have screamed, but these people were well-versed in death. Perseus looked back to Renee. "So how did you kill him? Another power?" She smirked back at him. "Even an Epic can die, Perseus. Even you." She had to be a Reckoner. He, instead of calling for the guards, simply drowned her in full view of everyone. "Even a Reckoner can die, Renee. Especially a Reckoner." Turning away from the woman he would have called friend, he tried to find the victim of the gunshot. Strange... there wasn't any blood. Only a fine dusting of chalk all over Avi Exseus' throat. It looked like he had died almost instantly. Floating over to the body, Perseus examined it from above. No tech inside his shirt, none anywhere on his body. He must have been innocent- as much as any Epic could be considered innocent. Maren Noles started sniggering. "Hehehehe... this is the most fun thing I've done since I rose! Coming down here to cause chaos is SO much fun. And I do mean fun. Honestly, the way you people kill each other over the slightest points..." Someone in the crowd began to concentrate. What they were about to do would require the largest amount of antimatter they'd ever attempted to create. And all in the name of getting rid of the person who had possibly granted the power in the first place... Maren stopped smiling. "Who is using a power here? ANSWER ME!!!" she snarled. From somewhere in the crowd came a voice. "I'm sorry, Calamity, but I am loyal to one person and one person only: Perseus. Bye now." A gargantuan explosion rocked the room. Most of the Epics could protect themselves in some way, and one considerate fellow had placed a forcefield that helped direct the blast upward. Most of the roof was gone, and with it had flown Calamity. Arraenae was lynched! They were a Reckoner with tech that gave them the powers of Matter Disruption, Invisibility, Enhanced Relationships, and Telepathy! Hellscythe was killed! They were an Epic with the powers of Illusions, Invisibility, and Telepathy! Adavantos was killed! They were a Serial Killer, with the power to kill and survive one death! Mailliw was "killed"! They were Calamity, with the powers to grant a player one random power, survive one death, and Accelerated Healing! Vote Tally: Arraenae: 3; Adavantos, Paranoid King, OrlokTsubodai Mailliw: 2; Bridge Boy Clanky: 2; Hellscythe, Kamyle Bridge Boy: 1; RippleGylf Adavantos: 2; queensteph Kipper was annoyed! Mailliw was saved from boredom! (But not from death. )
  7. Cycle Four: A Grammer Lesson Following the unsuccessful attempt to kill Maren the previous day, Perseus was not happy with them. Despite that, he still had determined that he would let his subjects decide who to kill. It was almost like a test. Almost. Hmm, a test. Perhaps that was how he would decide who to have killed, should there be another die. Yes, a test of the most important part of being an Epic: grammar! Striding into the room where it happened, he went straight to the throne he had had installed, and sat down wearily. He was tired of killing people who just sat up after they were stabbed. But perhaps today, he wouldn't have to make a decision about who to kill, and the victim would actually die. There will come a day when this will happen. But it is not this day. Today, we fight for the right to annoy Perseus as much as we want! He was already very exasperated. They couldn't seem to think about the current situation, and kept going on and on about Epics who already had had their death. Finally, a large group decided on Maren once again. Apparently, he accused people without a basis, and wouldn't explain himself. Perseus was about to give the order of execution when another group claimed that Mike Durbin would be a better target. They were exactly tied, and Perseus sighed. It looked like he would have to make the decision himself. Again. "Mike Durbin and Maren Noles! Step forward!" They did so, glancing nervously at each other. "Today, one of you will be killed, and the other will receive a reprieve at least until tomorrow. To decide which one, you both will take this grammar test." The test read as follows: "In the sentence 'Perseus ___ the man killed', how many times should the word 'had' be in the blank to make the sentence pluperfect?" They looked confused. Obviously, grammar was not any of either of their strong suits. Finally, Mike raised a hand. "I think... that it should be... '2 times'". Maren stared at the paper a bit longer, and then said "Well, in my opinion it should be 3." Perseus checked the answer once more, stood, and addressed the crowd. "Since Maren, while Mike had had "had had", had had "had had had", he will be the one to die." He turned to Maren. "Maybe next time, you'll study your grammar before joining my court. I grew up on a farm, but even I would never use the word "had" more than twice in a row." Maren looked confused. "But, Lord, you just did-" "Treason!" Perseus blasted him with a waterball. The impact threw him across the room, but when the steam dissipated, he was standing up. "Blast it!" Perseus stormed off. Following another fruitless day, many people were angry with others, especially the ones who wouldn't deign to help decide on the Reckoners. A figure walked into a building- but it wasn't the building to which they had been assigned. They checked the directory posted on the wall, running through it until they found the name they were looking for. "Ah! Andrew, fourth floor, third room to the left. Got it." As they began to go up the stairs, a second figure crept up to the list. Why was their chalk all over the pages? Was someone else here? They ran as silently as possible to the stairs, and then up them. Nearing the second floor, they spotted a person ahead of them. "Hey! You! Who are you here to kill? And don't pretend you aren't going to, we both know that's the only reason for someone to be out this late." They seemed surprised. "Alright, alright. I'm here to eliminate Andrew." "Wait, really? So am I! Let's team up!" "Sure. Just don't get in my way, ok?" The dark figure was affronted. "If anyone's going to get in someone's way, it will be you in mine." As they were debating, they continued to ascend the stairs until they reached the fourth floor. Standing within sight of the room in question, the second figure said "Watch this!" and stared at his room. Suddenly, a huge explosion destroyed the room, and everything inside. "Impressive. Do you mind if I go make sure he's dead?" "Not at all, go right ahead." They ran to the edge, and spotted the body. Pulling out a knife, they threw it directly into its head. "All done. Let's split before anyone comes." "But of course. Hope to see you again somenight." "The same to you." As explosions rocked the building nearby, another killer took the opportunity to run without caution of noise. They had been well trained, and didn't get out of breath the whole way. It was unfortunate that their target lived so far away, but then again, Ereth had a high enough status in the court to get their own house. Houses were harder to reach, but much easier to go unnoticed in. They came up to the house, weapons out. You couldn't be too careful around Epics. They were all insane. Even the good ones. Standing to the side, they fired a shot at the lock of the door. The door swung open. Carefully, they crept inside, staying low. It was lucky for them that they did so, because the occupant of the house was not asleep- or happy. An explosion rocked the air right above the infiltrator's head. "You thought you could come into my house, and kill me, didn't you, you little slime. Let's add some antimatter to that equation, shall we?" The assassin cursed. They had prepared for this, of course, but this particular eventuality was not the best. Remaining silent, they shot the Epic in the head, and immediately bolted out the door as fast as they could. As they ran, the entire house exploded behind them. Antimatter Epics often set failsafes to kill their attacker should they die. Luckily, they had expected it. Mailliw(Maren Noles) was lynched, but survived! Andrew(Araris Valerian) was killed! He was an Epic with Illusions and Heat Vision! Elbereth was killed! They were an Epic, with Matter Disruption and Heat Vision! Vote Tally: Mailliw: 3; Orlok, Adavantos, Kipper Adavantos: 3; Mailliw, queensteph Kipper: 1; Arraenae PMs will be sent in about a half-hour, and this write-up will be edited.
