Aggie, I think you are 100% correct as to the intent of the interlude, and while I did like Ym as a character, I would not like to see him return. I think for most characters, dead must mean dead, so that when the odd character does return, it is unexpected. Also, with regard to the Heralds not being good originally, I found this snippet which might back you up. " There were stories of evil men made immortal, then tortured over and over again---like Extes, who had his arms torn off each day for sacrificing his son to the voidbringers in exchange for knowledge of the day of his death. It was just a tale, but tales came from somewhere".

Help!!! Assassination of Gavilar Coppermind Page
bunyip99 replied to Young Bard's topic in Stormlight Archive
Sorry Bard, I'm old and don't know how to link to a theory page, but I searched on "drunk man" and found a bunch of people theorising on possible heralds. Also, I didn't mean to say any of what I posted should be added to your timelime, more just ideas I've been thinking about, and what I think might be foreshadowing for future books. Feel free to take or leave what you want from my thoughts on the subject, I'm just really fascinated for yours and Moogles efforts -
Help!!! Assassination of Gavilar Coppermind Page
bunyip99 replied to Young Bard's topic in Stormlight Archive
This is a great idea, because we know we will get the same scene for the next 3 books. Everything on your list looks good to me. Some things that could be worth adding:- Seth noticing the drunk man who many think may actually be Jezerezeh. The fact that we see Tearim in Gavilar"s sharplate initially, which would require some time to for Gavilar to get into when the time came. In fact, there is probably a meeting involving Tearim, Gavilar and Sadeas to be slotted in there somewhere. Perhaps also make note of the fact that Jasnah was meeting Liss to arrange an assassination of Elhokar's wife, as I suspect, she may make an appearance in future books. This makes me even more excited to read the next viewpoint of this scene. -
They could be very well be our mythical Captivity spree, as I guess visually they look cage-like. But I remember noticing them once on a re-read, and thinking voidspren because right after seeing them Kaladin decides to help assassinate Elohkar.

So why exactly is Nightblood so stupendously overpowered?
bunyip99 replied to kroen's topic in Warbreaker
Yeah, not really buying the 1000 breathes concentrated into a sword theory. I agree with Kreon, that something else is going on. The five scholars have done exhaustive experiments on awakening both objects and lifeless. I could be wrong here, but I believe that it was the actual commands that gave them more success, rather than simply adding more breath. Well commands and learning that things that were once alive are far easier to awaken. Seems that they would have tried to awaken a lifeless with 1000 breathes in their experiments at some point in time. Does anyone know if we have a WOB stating that Nightblood was not created using a divine breath. If so, I've got nothing, If not, then is it possible that Shashara told Vasher she used 1000 breaths but actually used her divine breathe in the creation if Nightblood, surviving for a time afterwards on the stored 1000 normal breaths. Nah I'm not buying that either, but I still think something else is involved. -
Beef chouta coming to a store near you. How about a milkshake? Medium rare T bone steak anyone? I found this in the Rysn interlude in WOK and can only imagine these animals as some type of cattle. If I'm right, that's chickens, pigs and cows. Shinovar seems more Earth like everyday.

Hey Eternal Radiance, Don't worry about it too much, and don't give up on the site just because someone doesn't like what you've posted. It seems like you haven't posted too much in the theories section so maybe take Cognative Pulses' suggestion, and read through them for a bit. I reckon you've got a reasonable grasp of cosmere magic systems, especially for your age, and you just need to keep exploring the site to learn more. Have you read all of the cosmere books, or just Mistborn and Way of kings? If not, try Warbreaker next and you might notice some other world hoppers. Anyway, stick with it, and I think you'll find that this site is full of friendly, generous and intelligent people Besides that, its nice to have another aussie around the place. -
I cringe every time I read this. It just doesn't sound right in my head.

This sound awesome! I'm going to guess that if this does make it into the Cosmere, they will be from a world without Shards, similar to Threnody. I say this because I think that Brandon has already mapped out his 10 Shardworlds and their resident Shards. However, reading Weiry's transcript, Vigilance and Valor sure sound like they should be Shards to me. How many Cosmere books is that now anyway, approaching 50 I would guess. Damnation, I don't think I will live long enough for all that.

I think it fair to say that my appreciation for Michael Kramer and Kate Reading has increased immeasurably.

Is the Everstorm more powerful than a Highstorm? Remember, both Shallan and Kaladin have survived highstorms in nothing more than a Wooden box on wheels. I believe the real danger from the Everstorm, other than when it collides with a Highstorm, is the direction it comes from. Given enough warning, I would think that most townships should survive without huge loss of life. Even without warning, I can't see anywhere near a 90% casualty rate. The question is where and when will the two storms collide with each other again. That's where I would be looking for high numbers.

I've been listening to Warbreaker recently when I heard this and had a little chuckle to myself. Is it just me or is Brandon cracking a funny. Also, for those of you who have listened to the audiobook, why does Lightsong sound like Keanu Reeves' character from Bill & Teds Excellent Adventure and Tonk Fah sounds like a cartoon dog.

My thoughts exactly. I was thinking that given the whole reason Jasnah was looking for Urithiru, was to find long lost books about radiants and the desolations, the in-world book "Oathbreaker" may have been found there. If so, nobody has been there in thousands of years, so nobody should know that name. Now I can't wait to find out where Oathbreaker the shardblade came from??

No, your right, I don't think it likely either but it would have been pretty cool.I guess I just recognised the foreshadowing. Now I'm off to read the annotations Hang on a minute! Eventeo says that Sarene doesn't know "him", referring the the spy. So, either he is lying to make it harder for Sarene to find who it is, or Brandon has changed the storyline. I'm going hold out hope for this theory just a little longer.
-
No, Eventeo specifically says that Sarene doesn't know him. So we at least know that the spy is male.
-
While re-reading Elantris, I came to the part where Sarene is talking to her father via Seon, and Eventeo mentions that he knows about Iadon's death because he has recently sent new spies to Arelon. Sarene muses that the spy must have a Seon for Eventeo to have found out so quickly. I know there is no hard evidence here, but I reckon that it would fit Hoids character to be a spy, while it also might answer what form of investiture he gathered whilst on Sel. It's in chapter 35 of the ebook if anyone is interested.(I don't know how to provide a quote yet). If this has been noted before please ignore me, I couldn't find anything about this though.

WOK is still my favourite book, but I can see how people can find it a bit slow. Please stick with it, the payoff is well worth it. Make sure to let us know your reactions when you get finished

Ok, thanks I'd not seen that before

Sorry Auger I accidentally down voted you, could somebody please fix that.Anyway, I'm thinking that on Roshar, we have confirmation of only Honor and Cultivation being on the planet. Odium is confined to Braise, but may have some influence on Roshar through the Unmade and or Void Spren. I believe there was a WOB somewhere saying that there was Shard in hiding, just trying to survive or something like that, and I'm wondering if that could be the 3rd Shard on Roshar
-
I don't think the oathgate locks are spren, or made of shardblade material. Rather they are made of the same material as honorblades. The oathgates are ancient and in my opinion were created by Honor himself or the heralds perhaps. IIRC honorblades were given to the heralds by honor, and the spren imitated them.

Yeah, I'm really looking forward to Jasnah's return as well. I agree the Dalinar conversation will be enlightening and I'm also interested in her interactions with Shallan and Kaladin. She may also have some new cosmere knowledge to advance the story. I'm not sure if Shallan's brothers will shed light on her mother's motives, and I don't know if Shallan knows. I'm more interested in knowing if she was a part of some faction, the new sky breakers perhaps, and if so, is that why the ghost bloods became connected with Shallan's father. With regard to Kaladin's past, I think it might be important he address his perceived failures and he mentions these specifically. Tukks seems to have been his first trainer in warfare and he respected him. I would like to know more about the Takers and if this is another faction of interest and if Kaladin was a member.
