I'm almost positive Dalinar saw some light eyes in WoK flashbacks. I can't recall a description, but he does seem to take notice when he sees dark eyes in positions of power. And I'm pretty sure the Radiants had light eyes (although that isn't inconsistent with the first posts theory).

Kaladin's return to Hearthstone
dayman replied to Assassin in Burgundy's topic in Stormlight Archive
In my opinion, it would be more interesting if things are surprisingly similar to where he left them and he has to deal with all that in his new situation. I think it's more likely that it'll be the old "you can never really go home" situation (b/c home his gone/changed). Also, I had forgotten he was even heading home. Is this made clear? It's been a long time... -
Hoid beating Kelsier down didn't really seem that harsh to me. I mean, Kelsier was not an unknown quantity to Hoid...he knew what Kelsier was all about while he was living. Plus, Kelsier was assaulting almost everyone he met in the cognitive realm (Hoid, both of his Gods/creators, etc.). Hoid gave Kelsier what he had coming. Also, I can't see Hoid as a bad guy b/c he's constantly aiding the heroes of various worlds.

Just finished this one. I have to be honest, I have not liked any "Mistborn Adventure" novels until Bands of Mourning which I really ended up loving. In my mind Brandon put new life into Scadrial and now has mystery everywhere in that world that I really want to know about. So, with that in mind, I was pretty let down by Mistborn: Secret History. I'm just giving my honest reaction, and haven't read any posts on this board yet (although I plan to), but the main reason I was let down was b/c it didn't seem to add anything (at all) to Kelsier's character or the story of Mistborn and it kind of hurt a few other characters IMO (Lord Ruler really took a blow here IMO). Felt like some sort of fan-fiction and I'm not sure Brandon should have published it...but whatever...a batting average of .900 will still get you in the hall of fame...just didn't see the appeal of this one. Maybe after I browse this board a bit I'll feel differently...IDK.

Maybe it's boring and too simplistic but I can see a bad guys win or something at the end of this series so the next era opens with pre-baked conflict points. Not sure if he's going to roll it in but I could also see this series set the stage for some full-blown cold war to be the setting of the next book....maybe the other part of the world that we haven't seen comes into play or the governance of the main plot we are familiar with splits. Anyway, one thing for sure needs to happen...conflict and waves of action need to spread out from the city.

Yea, other than that. Like a more blantant attempt to increase power.

It's almost certainly Spook's diary. I imagine Spook dabbled with Hemulargy and probably even found TLR braclets at some point ... segwaying us into the next book. I would love it if it turns out Wax is spiking himself somehow.

I got kind of a "The Gunslinger" vibe there for a moment...but it didn't materialize (for good reason, Wax sucks at fighting here).

Anyone who finds a worldhopper on their own gets props in my book (unless it's Vasher or Nightblood...those are the only two I think are obvious).

Is it possible to become a beta reader for Sanderson?
dayman replied to dayman's topic in General Brandon Discussion
IDK I think all things considered, even having read some well thought out counter-arguments above, it would be nothing but a blast to be a beta reader. In the last 2 or 3 years I've gotten really into fantasy books and now regularly shred ~500 pages novels in series I like in about 2 days and just move right onto the next--so work load would not be a problem (even though I am busy like everyone else). The opportunity to actually write something up pursuant to whatever guidelines Sanderson puts out there would be a thrill. I mean, if I read it and provide a bunch of feedback throughout the process ... reading the final book once it comes out would take on a whole new deminension. What changed? Seems like fun. I do agree that something like Mistborn adventure or a one-off would be better than Stormlight or "full" Mistborn series...but I would take what I could get. Hit me up Pete! I'll tell you all about who I am I think I would be a pretty good beta reader! -
Lies of Locke Lamora Finally getting around to this one I've heard a lot aout it. Just finished the four released books in the Dagger and the Coin series recently...highly recommend that the conclusion will be out in January.

I always recommend starting people with Mistborn. IMO it's the best series so far (being finished helps) and it's the perfect intro to the cosmere.

perfect order to read the cosmere
dayman replied to High prince of geeks's topic in General Brandon Discussion
For new readers I would tell everyone to start with the first 3 mistborn first (IMO). If that doesn't catch their interest in Sanderson and the cosmere as a whole nothing will. Also happen to be the best he has to offer IMO (so far) -
Oh and btw I must say Dagger and Coin is truly great. I highly recommend that one to anyone who needs something to read. You won't dislike it.

In no particular order: A Song of Ice and Fire Mistborn The Dagger and the Coin First Law The Dark Tower *Stormlight honorable mention due to few books

I wonder what the typical Sanderson fan is in terms of age, sex, education and wealth. Personally, I know most of my working peers do not read much fiction let alone fantasy.

Which Brandon Book Would do Best on TV or the Big Screen?
dayman replied to jrh1524's topic in General Brandon Discussion
Big Screen - Emperor's Soul Sort of cheating because it's a short story. But never the less I think's that's idea. I also recall him saying that of all his work that had the most traction (at the time of the comment). I'm not surprised. TV - Mistborn I think it can be done and would be great. Not ideal for movie imo b/c I wouldn't want to sacrifice the world building and side characters...if you do that it could easily be a trilogy and/or slightly more....but that's what makes this one great. I doubt a screen play without that will jump of the page. Alternate Big Screen - Warbreaker Not so far off from the most recent fads with female leads. Especially if they altered Siri's character. -
Just eating all the nuclear waste in the world? That sounds impracticable but decent idea.

I agree about the second proper Mistborn. I'm also as excited for that as the next Stormlight. I wish he would bounce between those two and prewrite Dragon Steel ... I mean I know the YA stuff and stand alones are lighter lifting but he could still throw one in here and there. I'm just saying if he needs to bounce around he could do it on the "big stage" as well. He's got several major Cosmere pieces set to take off ... I love Wax and Wayne but I hope when that's done it's on to larger scale stuff for Mistborn. I like The Reckoners series and I actually really liked the Rithmatist (strangely...I loved that book) .... but there is room for those here and there if bounces between heavy hitters. Anyway I'm not hating on Brandon at all so I hope nobody takes it that way. I'm just saying he has enough major stuff in the kitchen to bounce around and stay fresh with primarily that. Also, on the whole I prefer Brandon more but GRRM's stuff is on another level. The guy's a sloth and way too slow but it is understandable it would be slow his prose and characters are sublime.
