  1. He knows the predictions are degrading, that's why he's been collecting death rattles to hopefully find some clues as to what might happen that he won't be able to know. Which hasn't been working to well but he's out of ideas.
  2. Sazed found it difficult to turn his neck from sheer muscle mass, didn't he? I hope you meant a second metalmind to store the burn in, because you can't duralumin burst feruchemy without any metalminds
  3. I'd like to point out that Feruchemical pewter, unlike Allomantic pewter, increases your muscle mass, so tap to much and you'll be too bulky to move. Compounding duralumin would just . . . why would you want more Connection? I'm sure it has magic uses but it doesn't sound exciting to have infinite of it. And using duralumin on a burning metalmind is entirely redundant and has no benefits whatsoever.
  4. Yeah, when she was young she could probably summon Pattern instantly. When she does it in WoR she's trying to deny that her shardblade is abnormal subconsciously, and since she now knows about the heartbeats her mind causes the summoning to stall that long. There is no conflict of logic here.
  5. Wonder if it's possible with hemalurgy to pierce your own coppercloud and seek anyway? Or was it a hard restriction on bronze?
  6. Wonder how disoriented you would be with gold+electrum . . .
  7. The "pull projectiles towards object" thing has a specific name of Reverse Lashing. The windrunners from way back when who invented all the names probably weren't thinking too hard about surge/scientific accuracy. They're not really an academically inclined order I guess.
  8. You can't be spiked into becoming an awakener though. As far as I know it's impossible to not be an awakener. You just need breath from someone since you don't have one yourself.
  9. What was Szeth's eye color? I only remember what the color was when he summons his blade.
  10. Wasn't Kaladin unconscious during part of the highstorm though? I don't think we see most of the worst things happen to him while he was awake. Can't really tell if he felt it. Either way we don't know much about shardblade death, so my intention at the start of this was to not jump to conclusions on which is worse.
  11. Metal just glows really brightly in Shard-o-Vision on this planet. Ruin can see metal's presence fine, but he sure as heck can't make out any details without being there himself. By your logic he wouldn't be able to perceive hemalurgic constructs at all, which is clearly false. If it still happens to internalized metal, then he'd be stuck tracking minds, which clearly isn't working. If spikes still blind him, well with so much metal everywhere I doubt it would help much.
  12. Granted the "kill you" part isn't mutually exclusive with the other two.
  13. . . . not that we actually know that for a fact. I mean look at the Stormfather, who is apparently similar enough to forge nahel bonds with people. Spren are also clearly crucial for fabrial science in some way, though it's unknown how. But I find it questionable that the metal and gems would do more of the work than the spren would when the stormlight is put in.
  14. As the above sharder explains, something reappearing in the future is much, much more possible than something appearing before it actually existed. The former is literally how all created existence works in real life. Things continue to exist in some form as time flows. That's basic fact. All Demoux needs is an anti-aging measure, which seems simple enough in the cosmere. The latter is an irreconcilable time paradox that can in no way happen without time travel, at which point you're just grasping at straws to make it connect.
  15. Okay, there we go. That sounds like it could potentially be really excruciating.
  16. "At first glance, the key and the lock it fits may seem very different," Sazed said. "Different in shape, different in function, different in design. The man who looks at them without knowledge of their true nature might think them opposites, for one is meant to open, and the other to keep closed. Yet, upon closer examination he might see that without one, the other becomes useless. The wise man then sees that both lock and key were created for the same purpose." Sazed describes Harmony before Harmony was even a thing, really. Especially since the Preservation-Ruin duality appears more literally in Elend and Vin first.
  17. The subject of shard precognition is interesting, to be honest. The intents with more long-term natures to them rather than being a present thing seem better at it. Ruin is garbage at it, Honor was able to tell he was screwed but that's it. Cultivation and Preservation are described as or implied to be stronger in this ability.
  18. All I actually remember on the subject is some mention of gene splicing . . .
  19. Compound your body heat until the test paper spontaneously combusts/falls through the melting desk and becomes unreadable.
  20. If I pulled an FMA moment and somehow pooled together the souls of a suitably large number of human sacrifices from various worlds, then took in the investiture, can I obtain some form of shard-like power?
  21. Should we be spoiler tagging Vin's kill record?
  22. Then wy did you quote that post from me specifically if you're going to ignore what it says? Having a normal sword lop off your arm is different enough from being run through the spine. We don't know if a shardblade to the spine actually hurts. Storms my memory is iffy on whether anything has ever been said about shardblade cuts and pain. You're getting your soul cleaved through important bits here.
  23. They are powerful splinters created by the Shard of Administration.
  24. Ruin couldn't see Preservation's last gambit coming nor what killing Elend would cause over a couple of minutes. Gets deceived a lot actually. Preservation wrote a prophecy that didn't do anything for several millenia, at which point it came true to the letter. I think his foresight is better than the other guy.
  25. And then they run into Aona, Skai, and Tanavast.
