  1. Actually, I'd like to change my name to Lethir. Why? Because Lethir has two syllables. Gaston from Beauty and the Beast also has two syllables. And it's much easier to change the names and parody a song when you don't have to mess around with the meter.
  2. I find it interesting that the Village needs to kill all Unstable Mistborn... There may be more than one? The Elend Venture role reminds me of LG15a, which means the village will really need to watch out for last minute bandwagons... Hmmm... The QF will probably be over by the time this starts, so... Captain Lethir Urbain never understood why people made such a fuss about sides. There was only one side, as far as he was concerned - the winning side. And that was obviously whatever side he was on. If the enemy knew what was good for them, they would be begging for mercy right about now. Because Lethir had never met a problem he couldn't solve with his axe.
  3. Apologies for the delay in getting the cycle up. I'm now three-for-three running into technology troubles while trying to run an SE game. >:[ This time isn't normally active, so I'll leave the end of cycle time where it is instead of pushing it back 24 hours as I might have otherwise. If anyone has any problems with that, please let me know. I have seen many strange things in my time, but even I had not seen something quite like the Turquoise Bellied Alligator before. At some point in it's life, it must have been given someone's Breath - the reasons now are probably lost to time. Perhaps it was some kind of strange laboratory experiment. Perhaps it was the passing fancy of a drunkard who gave their Breath to the creature to see what happened. Either way, the result is the same - with it's new Breath, the Alligator seems to have given this alligator some level of sentience - enough to choose to stand in opposition to the Black Shadows, and even sapient enough to crack jokes about itself. I would have loved to have studied this creature further - how many opportunities does one have to study such a thing? It's a shame, however, that it was not to be. After Hohelin's death, everyone knew there was a traitor in the group. Many names were tossed around, but N'Nairim, the Alligator, and the Awakened Steel were the three who were most accused. The debate raged for hours, but to no avail. At one point, it seemed as though there may be a concensus on the Steel being the traitor, but an interjection by the Lifeless Izzy again set the small crowd into disarray and fighting amongst themselves once more. Eventually, the Alligator stepped forward. "We can not afford to squander this opportunity. While we argue, they have the opportunity to plan and to strike." The others looked on. They seemed not to be themselves. They looked at Alligator, and all they saw was a threat that needed to be Eliminated. But the Alligator must have realised he could use that. "We must work together. If that means that I have to sacrifice myself to deal with the greater threat... so be it. Just... heed my words. Avoid growing divided, and stick to the task. The Shadows must be defeated, at whatever cost." The others looked at the Alligator, surprised. The levity that had been displayed earlier was gone. "So... you're saying you want us to lynch you?" "Well, I don't want that, but..." "Sounds good to me. Let's go!" The crowd swarmed towards the alligator, drawing knives and picks from under their coats. When they retreated a few minutes later, the only sight left were turquoise scales turned red. Quietly, N'Nairim sent out letter, slowly weaving their plans into action. Things were coming together just perfectly. They had allies, and they'd collected some modicum of Breath, though they could always use more. N'Nairim whispered into their Strawman, which began crying out for Steel's blood. N'Nairim smiled. Now that that contract was complete, they could turn some of their attention to more important matters. N'Nairim smiled as another letter was slipped covertly to him with a black seal on it. They smiled - more news, more covert discussions, more opportunities. N'Nairim dug a nail under the seal to pry it off, and felt a pain on the tip of their finger. What? N'Nairim inspected the seal, and saw a tiny needle poking out from under the seal. Why would anyone do a thing like that? N'Nairim inspected their finger, where a drop of blood was beginning to well up. Except... was his blood supposed to be bright green? Hurriedly, he grabbed a knife and used it to rip off the seal, tearing the parchment slightly. Smoothing out the letter, they saw the message was only three words. Sleep well, N'Nairim. N'Nairim felt dizzy. But... no. No, this could not be the end. They stood up, made it to the door. Maybe, maybe if he was able to reach the group, they could help him, they could heal him of whatever this was. He crashed into a side table and used it as momentum to try and push himself closer to the door. On the third step, his knee buckled, and he collapsed hard against the ground. His vision was blurry, a kaleidoscopic array. It would be pretty in... in different circumstances. I can't die like this... I am more than this... I am more... Am I... I am... I... We may try to weave our webs, but we should never be in such a hurry to go forward that we forget to look behind our backs. One failed scheme, one that may or may not yet succeed. And who knows how many that have not yet seen the light. Turquoise Bellied Alligator (Elandera) was killed! They were a member of the Hallandren Alliance. N'Nairim (Lumgol) was killed! They were a member of the Hallandren Alliance. 4. Items can be used more than once. The Breath can be recovered, except from a Lifeless (and before the inevitable question, this includes items you started with). EDIT: I've been asked about the event of a tied lynch. I'm ruling that if the lynch is tied, no-one will be lynched.
  5. It is possible to have started the game with an item. Item Creation does cost an action. And yes, it would be noted if any Lifeless were created (also, I just missed putting the player list up - that is now corrected.)
  6. Katie the Koloss was confused. Katie could be considered cantankerous, but she couldn't comprehend the cold shoulder her colleagues had conveyed on her. Katie had considered capital punishment on random commuters to collect Breath for various creations. But Katie's colleagues considered this consideration inconceivable. So the concerned crowd confronted Katie. In a cramped corridor, Katie was cornered. She called out, but the crowd could not comprehend her cries. And so Katie the Koloss was killed. Hohelin is a rather curious case. He came to Hallandren, determined not to let this new heathen environment sway his conviction. I suppose he learned this lesson the hard way - those that do not adapt to their environment may learn that their environment will change them instead. Hohelin, so determined to only have only his one Breath, may have been the cause of his own undoing. Someone with more Breath may have heard the almost imperceptible sound of the door opening behind them as someone stepped into the room. But Hohelin had only his own Breath, and so he heard nothing. Someone with more Breath may have seen the slight discolouring of the nearby timber as they stood idly by. But Hohelin had only his own Breath, and so he saw nothing. Someone with more Breath may have noticed the Life Sense of the intruder behind them as they slowly approached. But Hohelin had only his own Breath, and so he felt nothing. He felt nothing until the knife sunk into their back, so he wouldn't feel anything ever again. Vote Count: Ark(5): Maill, CadCom, Steel, Lumgol, Strawman Sart(3): Xino, Elandara, Joe CadCom(3): Sart, Ark, Alvron Alvron(1): Randuir Katie the Koloss/Ark1002 was lynched! They were part of the Hallandren Alliance. Hohelin/Devotary of Spontaneity was killed by the Black Shadows! They were part of the Hallandren Alliance. This turn will end on Monday, May 6th, 5:30pm AEST. (Late Sunday night for the Americans.)
  7. You're the second person to have mentioned that - if I moved things an hour earlier (not this cycle, which will end at the usual time, but subsequent cycles after that), would that be preferable for people?
  8. Endowment. The act of bestowing onto others, of gifting them, in this case, with BioChromatic powers, the ability to wield divine energy for their own ends. I can not help but think that Edgli expected it to create some sort of paradise - a world under which empathy and compassion reign supreme. In that, it is quite clear that she failed. People get extraordinary power by Endowments Grace, and what do they do with it? They use it to kill and hurt each other. Everyone will have their internal justifications for it. These ‘Black Shadows’ think that by collecting all the Breath, they will be able to achieve some level of power, believing they could do a better job of leading. On the other side, the ‘Hallandren Alliance’ tries to stamp out these Shadows with all the subtlety and discrimination of a Rosharan Chasmfiend, perhaps to an even greater cost than the Shadows ever presented in the first place. Still, perhaps I misjudge one of them. That remains to be seen. Welcome to the game! Turns will last 24 hours. Turn One will end on May 5th, 5:30PM AEST. Player List: Steeldancer - Awakened Steel Xinoehp - Thaerb Ark1002 - Katie the Koloss Elandara - Turquoise-Bellied Alligator (TBA) Randuir - in CadCom - Ch. Aracter TBA Alvron - Izzy Dedyet Lumgol - N'Nairim Kidpen - Buffy the Black Shadow Slayer Devotary - Hohelin Maill - M'Malil Rathmaskal - Sart - Joe - PM's should be sent out - if you haven't recieved yours, please let me know as soon as possible.
  9. Just in time - I was just plugging the player list into random.org to start getting things ready. For everyone else, you have about 3 hours to sign up.
  10. Alright, I currently have 10 players and 1 pinchhitter - ideally, I'd like at least 12 players to run this game, so I'm going to push back the start time to this Saturday at 5:00pm AEST (late Friday night, for the Americans). Apologies for the delay.
  11. You start with a certain amount of Breath at the start of the game. You can gain more Breath from participation in the lynch (or from the Elim kill if you're an Eliminator).
  12. Bleh. I'm really sorry to hear that. Signups end Thursday May 2nd, 5pm AEST. https://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?msg=QF37+Signups+Closing&iso=20190502T17&p1=240
  13. Breath. It comes, and it gets taken away. There are those, like the Idrians, who view it as a sacred object, part of the soul, and who consider it sacrilege to use or transform it in any way. Then there are those, like the Hallandren, who buy and sell Breath like they would eggs at a market, and who view it as a simple fuel for their various arcane activities. Then there are those, who are willing to do whatever it takes to get what they want, and who see Breath as an ultimate source to power and influence in T'Telir. The Black Shadows have been looking for a way to find a fresh supply of Breath, and do not much care how. But they took a step too far when they kidnapped Mmerinas, a wealthy merchant Awakener, and stole his Breath. Awakeners from around T'Telir and beyond are banding together to combat this new threat - the Hallandren Alliance does not intend to get picked off in such a manner. Whether they succeed in their task is yet to be seen. Welcome to QF37! All the normal rules for QF's apply - Cycles are 24 hours, with a lynch each cycle. Signups will end on Saturday May 4th, 5PM AEST. Every player will start out with a certain amount of Breath. You can use Breath to do two things. Achieve Heightenings, or make Items that can perform abilities. Heightenings: First Heightening (5 Breaths) - Aura Recognition. Target a player each night, and you can discover how much Breath that player holds. Second Heightening (8 Breaths) - Enhanced Hearing. You can listen in on a player, and discover who they targeted that Cycle. Third Heightening (12 Breaths) - Color Recognition. You see the letters of gossip passing back and forth between members of the Hallandren court, and are able to see who a player was in contact with in PM’s in the last cycle (but not its contents.) Fourth Heightening (18 Breaths) - Life Sense. You know who targetted you on a given night without having to submit an action or use an item, unless that player is Drab (has 0 Breath). Items: Rope - 4 Breath - Roleblock a player Strawman - 6 Breath - Add an extra vote to a player in the lynch Lifeless - 9 Breath - Can kill a player each night. The Lifeless will show up on a player list (with the name you give it, otherwise the GM will choose a name), and can be targeted like a regular player (for example, to roleblock the kill, you can roleblock the Lifeless or the player commanding the lifeless in order to do so). The Breath from a Lifeless can not be retrieved. Awakened Clothing - 10 Breath - Protect a player from an attack Miscellaneous Rules: You may have as many Items as you like, however, using an Item costs an action, and you may only use one action a cycle (not including voting). If you are of, for example, the Third Heightening, you may perform any action up to that Heightening (but you still can only perform one action.) If a player is lynched, the Breath will get passed out to those who voted on that player, in order of the votes (this includes vote manipulations, which are seen as coming at the end of the cycle, after regular votes.) For example, if Chaos, who has 8 Breath is lynched by Joe and Bard, in that order, then Joe and Bard would get 4 Breath each. If Fifth had placed a vote via his strawman on Chaos, then Joe and Bard would get 3 Breath each, and Fifth would get 2 Breath (so, it is allocated as Joe, Bard, Fifth, Joe, ... , until the Breath runs out.) If Chaos held any Items, those Items would be destroyed. You can pass all the Breath you currently hold, or none of it - it is not possible to pass just a portion of your current Breath. Except for the Lifeless, you can retrieve Breaths from Items you control. Player List: Steeldancer - Awakened Steel Xinoehp - Thaerb Ark1002 - Katie the Koloss Elandara - Turquoise-Bellied Alligator (TBA) Randuir - in CadCom - Ch. Aracter TBA Alvron - Izzy Dedyet Lumgol - N'Nairim Kidpen - Buffy the Black Shadow Slayer Devotary - Hohelin Maill - M'Malil Rathmaskal - Sart - Joe - Quick Links:
  14. Furamirionind, I hereby bestow upon you the power of Uncertainty. May you never trust needlessly those who might wish you and your allies ill.
