Actually, it can be insinuate that she had been using her luck for a while, as she had used it on Marsh earlier, and she was pretty good with it at the beginning of Mistborn 1 so we can kinda assume she had been using it for a while, and i always assumed he had been gone a few months, definitely less than a year. Do we have a WOB on how long before the beginning of Mistborn 1 Reen left Vin?

Pretty sure I read somewhere that shades had something to do with cognitive realm. Maybe they are a result of the cognitive realm merging with the physical one.

i agree he may not have definitively known that she was mistborn but there are definitely clues that could have alerted him that she was/may have been: 1.) she was a half-breed and they can be mistings (though he may not have known that was possible but with skaa mistings being the top tier of the underground he may have known) 2.) the Steel Inquisition was targeting her which meant she must have been special
