That might be possible, considering that TLR messed with the biology of the Scadrians to better live in the World of Ash

the Eleventh Metal short story at the beginning of the RPG, which is Gemmel and Kelsier discovering the lab. I could have sword that the Malatium was already done and waiting there for Kelsier.

It's kinda clear that Ruin has had his eye on Vin since she was very young (the earring). Having someone like Reen as your brother, protector, and mentor would have been a good way to connect her to Ruin without much effort on Ruin's part. When Reen left/was taken, I'd be willing to suspect that quite a few of those thoughts had Ruin's hand behind them. Not to say that they were never Reen's words, but Ruin had access to the soundboard and was piping in lines.

Cadmium bubbles slow down time for you, but make the world outside the bubble go by fast. A thief could dart in and out and you'd not be able to react in time. Now, Bendalloy could work, but that means but hours to you would be minutes. Bronze Twinborns would be great guards. Both able to notice allomantic pulses, plus store Wakefulness. Guard is on point.

I haven't read the short story from the RPG in a while, but I thought the bar of Malatium was already in the lab. I also think that Ruin orchestrated the whole thing. It's been confirmed that Ruin can influence the insane (Vin's mother) and neither Gemmel nor the nobleman experimentor were playing with a full deck. He made sure Malatium could be produced in order for someone to discover TLR's secret and exploit it. Ruin was limited in what he could do, so a nudge here and a shift there.A few words and whispered thoughts and bam: malatium, perfect for outting TLR's ancient allomantic secret.

That last part made me think of a Savant. Someone who used the Bands long enough and slow enough for their body to warp and adjust. Wax and Marasi barely had the bands for an hour and were burning hot and fast, not long enough to develop a dependancy. If someone gained the Bands and tapped them slowly, and over a period of time, I could see it rewriting their Spiritweb ala Hemalurgy without the need for death and violence to fuel it.

Metalminds don't work on an infinite loop, you store away what can be used for later. Need some extra strength for a few minutes? Spend a day or two weak. Hope you're good for that cold this week, because you never know when you might have to mend a bullet hole shut. Metalminds are not indefinite, and you often have to store longer than when you can use it. The Bands of Mourning used Nicrosil to give Fullborn powers, but they were stored powers, both Feruchemical and Allomantic. They are finite and will fade eventually. The Bands of Morning are less of an engine and more of a WMD, in that they are good for one real burst of destruction and then they are done. So far Hemalurgy is the only known way to grant someone permanent Fullborn powers. And Lerasium is the only way to make someone a Mistborn without janking their souls.

Without going in to details that may or may not be Secret History spoilers, it appeared that Preservation was preparing Vin to be the new HoA or even Shardbearer. Ruin intercepted it by influencing Vin's mother, and made the Bronze spike to introduce Ruin directly to her mind. Preservation made a lot of plans, the details of which even Leras isn't entirely sure. But what is clear is that Vin was chosen to be used from a very early age. Taking in the mist was something Preservation gave her, as well as her ridiculous allomantic strength and finesse. Ruin blocked it, trying to suborn her to him.

Well, Secret Histories definitely puts a new spin on that line. I do believe that it is no coincidence that Marsh was in position of Spook's book, the book that we now know was written in part with Kelsier's research.

I think that from what we now know of Shardbearing, one of the few people who could take on the role of Honor would be Dalinar. Would that happen? Possible, probably not until the backend of the series. But that would also give a way a lot about the Cosmere arc, that it isn't just dealing with the fallout and shenanigans of those left in the wake of Adonalsium, someone(s) are starting to put Adonalsium back together. Someone is trying to unite them. And Hoid, apparently, very much respects House Kholin. Which considering his response to nearly everyone else in the series as trickster, tourist or antagonist, is pretty damnation telling.

It's a very good interpretation. It's probable that they were taken up for their popularity and their status of power, and nothing else. If it IS a part of their magic, I wonder if that would have something to do with the nature of Adonalsium. That whatever system was used by the first humans (if any) was Glyph based like the Aons and that Aona inherited it with her Devotion Shard.

Actually just saw a WoB where it's confirmed First of the Sun is as far in the future as we've seen.

Every time they mention copperclouds, I imagine a brownish cloud surrounding an area. Not physically but perceptually. I think that it would be interesting to see when Copper gets discussed and dealt with when using Bronze. I like the notion of beats or 'themes' for each metal, as that ties in with how Bronze would work. It also makes sense in universe as Bronze is how every one can identify Pushing/Pulling and so on.

I shall endeavor to be mindful of hemalurgic confections. And the Dresden Game uses a similar system to their RPG, very character driven and less mechanical crunch. I was thinking of using it to homebrew a Mistborn larp I had cooking in my head.

May I ask why First of the Sun is on the backend?

It is a theory that fits Brandon's style of the villains really thinking they are in the right on what is going on. We have only seen glimpses of Odium through visions and his effect on the parshendi and others. He is very much like Sauron, but on a less local level. Like Sauron however, we see his influence. Hatred and malice. As Sauron's taint and corruption was evident in the affect the ring had, so too does Odium. And, according to Hoid, It's shard bearer is not a saint. I suspect that Odium is very much like Ruin, a natural force. But where Ruin was merely doing it's job of performing entropy, Odium creates Hatred, feeding off of it and making more. Either way, I agree that Sazed is probably a high priority issue for Odium. I have my suspicions that the Set in Mistborn era 2 are being controlled by The Scadrian equivalent of Voidbringers, working under the control of the encroaching Odium.

[Bands Spoilers] Having the has Sazed a Metal?
Uilos replied to NeutroniumAlchemist's topic in Mistborn
WoB says that we would eventually see Harmonium (Saze didn't like the term Sazedium). Ettmetal could be it, or it could be the metal from the Other God. -
The Cover Artist is the same guy that does the Dresden Files, which consistently depicts the main character in a cowboy hat in every cover despite Harry Dresden never owning one. It even gets mentioned in universe once or twice. It has taught us not to over think the covers. Covers Lie.

Allik alludes to Identity being the cause of the accent. His connection grants him to speech of the land, but his Identity marks him as a non-native. Taln, whose nature is currently unknown, seems to be from Roshar. Hoid seems a special case, as he 1) seems to be collecting the magic system of the worlds, and it has been mentioned that this may cause him developing a Connection to the places. And 2) His Identity is mutable. This would make sense as he is seen in differing forms and names. So, it is quite possible that Hoid speaks like a native on all of the worlds we've seen him because he has developed enough of a Connection and has little Identity to hold him back.

He may also only be the third Crasher on Record. One of the major problems we've noticed in Mistings is that they don't know what metal they can use unless they have been given it to them. How many Ferrings have gone on with their lives without ingesting Steel? How many children have been born that were unaware of their parentage and had access to metalminds or ingestible metals. Also, imagine someone coming in to their powers in an unprepared environment. How many do you think may have Pushed themselves off of a building, or in to a river or some other such dumb thing. Making yourself lighter or heavier and then hurling yourself in to the air is a great way to get yourself killed if you don't know what you're doing, where you're going, or have someone to save you. So Wax may be one of the Three on record, but there is no way to account for every single one.

Harmony has the benefit of being a god and not bound to the same perspective while simultaneously at the deficit of being stuck. I don't think Harmony is crazy so much as he's trapped between his two forces and Whatever Is To Come. He knows that Something is out there and is going to start/has started to gun for him. Wax is one of the pieces he's moving. He's sorry to play that game, but needs must when the Cosmere drives. Also, I think Sazed has some perspective on lost loves. I think he called Wax out because the greater hate in Wax's heart was for Wax himself.

Apparently I've had an account for a while, but I only just signed up yesterday. I have read the Coppermind and I find it almost as entertaining as the books themselves and love that people are putting all of the pieces together. Thanks for the welcome!

My name is Craig, but I will also answer to Uilos or just Los. I am a nascent writer and game developer, working primarily with a team for a live action roleplay game of The Dresden Files. I'm also a massive Star Wars nerd and lightsaber combat enthusiast and philosopher. I became a fan of Brandon when he went on tour for the first Wheel of Time book that he had done. A friend had taken me to the signing in Manhattan and she put Mistborn: the Final Empire, in my hand. After listening to Brandon talk, and listening and reading most of his works, he is the author I most look to when wanting to learning world and magic building. I'm most interested in the Cosmology (or Cosmereology) that Brandon as cooking. He's making one hell of a long term story, and he's got me hooked until he finished. After Bands of Mourning and Secret Histories, I decided it was time to step up and start sharing thoughts.

I'm with you there. I'm interested to see how, if at all, it will play out in The Lost Metal. It's interesting that it's titled that, because I don't think it's related to the metal that was used for Bleeder. I think that, in the Lost Metal, we may see Lerasium make a reappearance as well as a resurgence of full Mistborn. Note, that's a lot of WILD speculation on my part. But I think that either Lerasium or Atium (or, hell, whatever Harmony would have constituted) will make a return.
