  1. Ok, sorry about the confusion... XD Cya in the morning, then .3.
  2. Sorry, I was trying to ask it in character, but this works too .x.; I'll change my most recent post, if that's convenient
  3. Shuster eyes the king nervously, trying to act casual as to not offend the king. "I understand. There is, however- a small matter of pay. How much can I expect for the safe retrieval of this man? I hate to ask considering the circumstances, but mercenary work is mercenary work- and you seem familiar with my... particular skill set... so you must understand that I don't work for free. I hope I am not overstepping my place, but its best we have this discussion before the job is done..."
  4. Shuster Tokutreed leaned against the wall at the back of the congregation- out of sight, fiddling with a loose button on his hat while the meeting drew out. As an agreement was being reached- Shuster drew the crumpled letter from his coat pocket one more time. Written on fine paper, in block letters were the words: "There will be a meeting in the Kings board advisory table this afternoon. Be there, the King will have a special task for you" At the bottom of the page was a seal Shuster didn't recognize- two squares overlapping each other by the corner- with something running between them, as if interlocked with the "chain". A snake, or a sword perhaps- the seal was too small to tell for sure. Shuster didn't like being manipulated by anonymous contractors- but he knew from experience not to ask too many questions to the wrong people. He'd only been in Menkor for a week- doing simple jobs like guarding and escorting officials for the king- but his reputation was no secret. The letter would probably lead to doing something he wouldn't appreciate- but he had to take what he could get. The atmosphere in Menkor was so tense, he would probably have to leave within the week again anyway, to anyone else who would hire him- leaving another country to the mercies of war, anarchy and conflict. How many had it been now? Shuster no longer kept count. It seemed everywhere he went- his support would only be the catalyst of something greater, forcing him to leave again and again. But what choice did he have? It wasn't his place to say what was right or wrong- he just needed to survive. Any alternative would mean...- Shuster snapped awake. Had he been daydreaming again? Shuster instinctively reached for the hilt of his sword- a fine rapier stolen many years prior, which had become the icon- alongside his black weathered Tricorn- of his infuriating reputation. Stories of his exploits haunted him, often told with ridiculous exaggeration- so he tended to try and avoid them unless he needed to flag down an employer. His hat and sword, however- he was too attached to to pass on. Seeing there was no danger, Shuster slowly relaxes his grip on the hilt. It seemed the other members of the meeting were leaving. How long had he been staring into space? The King sat alone by table, his head in his hands. Sensing an opening, Shuster stepped forward to get the kings attention- trying to seem as subservient as possible. Once it had become apparent that the King knew he was there, Shuster decided to get to point of his intrusion quickly. "Your Majesty... I understand you have a special task for me?"
  5. I'm assuming I'm a mercenary working for Avar, then?
  6. Confidence? Trust? Honesty? Self Control?
  7. Ok, so who are we waiting for...? also, about http://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/21259-adventures-in-edassa-summer-1375-se-city-of-menkor/ should we wait till everyone's put up a character sheet, or try and get started?
  8. My Character Sheet! :B Name: Shuster Tokutreed Physical Description: (19, pale/dark brown eyes/ Scruffy white hair, Male, 6.3 ft/160 lbs? (not too fussed about weight/height x.x)/Wearing a weathered black Tricorn and a long black cloak over light leather Armour) Religion/Belief System (if any): Follows a Patron God outside of Popular Religion History/Bio: Born in Sencalon, but was raised in one of the Varand nations. After both his parents died, he inherited his only family possession (a stolen Rapier), and was forced to travel around the land as a mercenary. Despite only barely getting by, he has earned himself a fierce reputation, and rumors speak of his strange powers and feats of agility. Regardless, in his short time of work- he has already made a lot of dangerous enemies, and is consequently always on the move. Class II entity Is this enough? .3.;
  9. Granted- but you will always feel weaker when you should be strongest, and strongest when you should be weakest and (two boons, two banes ) you will have twice as much to do for the rest of your life. I wish to know and act from the Highest Truth
  10. "Know everything" Would that work? I imagine it could backfire the same way Glados did, but it'd make working out the Cosmere easier... :3
  11. Hate to ask, but how can you have a "girl" Kandra..? I mean... I assume as they don't reproduce in the same way we do- they would be naturally "genderless", so.. Are you sure Brandon wasn't just implying she was just disguised as a female...? .3.; (I vaguely remember Kandra culture, but my memory of it is hazy.. .~.; )
  12. I might be getting my chronology mixed up, but I've been thinking... What if Waldo was Helaran? (Shallans eldest brother) We know that Kaladin killed Helaran, which would have given ample importunity for Waldo to digest his body/ regenerate, etc- but in WoR, Helaran is mentioned to be in the area near the end of Shallans childhood- which surprises Shallans father, as I assume he had heard rumors of his sons death- and plans to send his soldiers to kill him personally (this would make sense since Amarams ascendance would have meant Shallans father would know Helaran was shardless). Not to mention, Helaran was investigating skybreakers before his death- perhaps that could be related. Now, I might have got the two events mixed up, so its probable that I'm going up the wrong tree- but imagine what would happen if Kaladin confronted Helarans "Ghost"
  13. You mentioned the various classes for "Godhood", how would someone ascend to a higher tier? :3
  14. Doesn't Taln have super fast reflexes...? (able to pluck a blowdart out of the air... o.o) I don't think a Kandra could impersonate that...
  15. Are there any... negative rankings...?
  16. My conclusion is that Shardplate was forged through a variety of surges. The design of the armor in my opinion appears to be of human design: the folding plating, the faceplate, and the fact that the suit uses infused gemstones suggest that it is a marvel of Radiant technology rather than divine intervention- unlike Shardblades which are completely unlike any human weapon, and can appear at will, and appear to be completely unmechanical, unlike Shardplate. The Shardblades weren't originally intended to be used on each other- why would the gods give them the only object that could block a shardblade? (Perhaps Shardplate originally belonged to the voidbringers, and was stolen by the radiants- in regard to Eshoni .3.) They could have created armor without that benefit- unless they predicted humans to turn on eachother... But why give your people a sword that could appear at any time in your hand, and give them armor that took ages to regrow and have to be taken on and off manually? Suppose each part of the armor has hidden fabrials (Or something else in which a surgecommand could be placed) which channel surges- we already know fabrials can affect surges like gravity, etc. Manipulating Progression (to regrow pieces of the armor), Cohesion (which I assume willshapers use to change shape, which would allow the armor to change shape to fit its owner, etc), Tension (Which I assume Stonewards & Oathbringers use to "strengthen" an object, which would therefore make the Shardplate as tough as it is), and Transformation (to soulcast that material used in Radiant training used to dull Shardblades- the Shardplate is made of a large quantity of the stuff- which is how it blocks Shardblades), and Gravitation (To make the Shardplate owner seem stronger than he is without it, by taking off some of the pressure of gravity) used in combination could replicate the effects of Shardplate. This could be the reason why Shardplate needs so much stormlight- to fuel the surgebinding. If this is true though, how can the Shardplate function even after the Nahel bond has been broken? Perhaps it has to do with something like "The Spren are still technically alive", or "Fabrials aren't affected by Nahels bond"- or something.. .3.; If I'm wrong somewhere- or missed something out, I'd appreciate being corrected- I'm not an expert on Shardplate.. :3
  17. Would that imply that Wit is as old Cultivation..? I'm not 100% up to date with my cosknowledge, but I assume she's ancient- as most shard holders seem to be... Anyway, if Wit was as old as that suggests- would that mean he's storing his youtfulness (like the lord ruler?) Or through some other magic system...? Perhaps his appearance is lightwoven... I imagine this subject has been glossed over before, but this might be another point to support it Otherwise, I'm sure a lot people don't get along with wit who are female- so it must be someone ancient, right? Perhaps a Greatshell? Wit has a tendency to talk to the local fauna... :3 Or perhaps he's referring to another worldhopper- could this criteria apply to anyone? (I admit that I don't know a lot of worldhoppers... .3.; )
  18. Thanks for clarifying ^-^
  19. Wait... when you said chronology... What do you mean by that? Has it already been confirmed in what order the books take place? And if so, why does that mean Wayne and Parlins hat aren't the same? (What if the Kandra is the hat...? Kandra can disguise as stuff by digesting it... What if Waldo is the hat? That'd be a twist... XD Perhaps that could explain why all the characters are addicted to hats... Kandra use Hemalurgic spikes, right? What if Waldo also uses those spikes to pierce subtly its owners head, granting them addictive Hemalurgic powers... (which is why Wayne insists his hat is lucky?) If Waldo was a hat, that would also explain how he fits into every scenario- he creates a new hat appearance for each culture... And every time Wayne swaps hats- Waldo takes the form of that hat- with or without Waynes knowledge...? :3 Something tells me there's something off about this idea, but its still a funny possibility- imo... XD)
  20. I'm reading Warbreaker right now, and I just finished reading Vivennas first experience in the market, and while I haven't finished the book to be completely certain- it seems to me that Parlin and Wayne share quite a lot of common traits. Specifically, when they first meet- they briefly discuss Parlins hat (which the book conveniently doesn't describe yet... <.<)- He says "the man in the marketplace said it was popular. Perhaps he isn't referring to this worlds marketplace (Or the seller is Wayne ). Parlins "hunter instincts" are also en par with Waynes "Crime-catching skills". Finally, later on- Parlin has to go outside to "get to know the area", which also is uncannily similar to Waynes "exploring". Would this in combination with "Bluth" support that these are all the same character, and that character is a worldhopper? Or could it just be a coincidence? If Parlin comes up in a later scene that disproves this, I'd appreciate someone mentioning it (without spoiling the story, please! .o.). The Kandra worldhopper is still on the loose, right? Perhaps that could explain the variances in "Waynes" Character (because he always changes his personality upon worldhop & digesting a new corpse- but keeps his hat? Even if Bluth died, a Kandra could just take another body- so perhaps "Wayne" is still in Roshar? o.o) If this isn't the case... Then something still seems fishy about the amount of "odd hats" going on... Could it just be Brandons sense of humour...? .3.; Just some ideas... :3
  21. Ok, I have a general concept applicable to the template provided- but its not finished... Since the RP will revolve around our impact on it- is it necessary to start our character with a lot of influence (politically, etc) to start with? Or can we start our character with no ties? Chronomancywise, I might be able to lend a hand- if you're looking for logical explanations. Anyway, dilation, precognition/prescience, and stasis is good enough for me :3 I'm all for having a "religion", just not too keen about having to follow other peoples orders There must be some quiet belief system without hierarchy, etc- and most importantly, not tied with "religious" conflicts (in which I can already see there will probably be a lot of.. :3). Even if it means getting hunted or looked down on by larger religions, I'd rather that than making myself someone else's servant. In a perfect scenario, I would like to remain impartial religouswise- and not get involved, but as this game seems to revolve around Gods a lot, that might not be possible.. (Would it be possible to be a founder of a religion? :3) Finally... How would one "gather a gods attention"? Through "prayer" (or something), I assume? And what kind of magic are we talking about? Throwing fireballs and stuff? Thanks in advance ^-^
  22. Has Zahel been mentioned? I can see Lyatil has a lot of evidence, but hear me out... Zahel is an Ardent (although not a devote Ardent) who has close relation to the highprinces, this means he can keep his Kandra codes (assuming he/she still keeps them), and be an influential figure to the highprinces. Assuming Zahel is TenSoon (as Tensoon, if I remember correctly- was one of the only kandra to survive, this also assumes Sazed hasn't made more Kandra...), that would explain his skills in fighting- he would have learnt from Vin firsthand. (Also worth noting, what if the Kandra is disguised as an animal? Perhaps a sureblood, etc) Zahel also mentions that he his old age and misses his home a lot... I understand its unlike Kandra to break character, but that seems to support my theory, considering Kandra have a longer lifespan than humans, and he would technically be very far from home. Most importantly, the wiki refers to Zahel having knowledge of the cosmere, therefore- something about Zahel is clearly fishy. Either he is a worldhopper or is en par with a world hopper to obtain such knowledge (maybe he's on good terms with wit? ). [http://stormlightarchive.wikia.com/wiki/Zahel] It might be worth looking over the encounter... I may be over complicating things though... Seeing the references to Warbreaker, I probably need to read that to get the full picture... Sorry if I'm just repeating infomation... x.x
