  1. I'm not quite sure why the first one is noted, but I would love if you explained it! For the second one, I wasn't implying it was the afterlife, just that the essence of the person continues after the physical body dies. The next subpoint makes sense. Suppose the spirit can move out of the body and still be connected to the cognition. That way, the mind can still interpret the things the spirit is seeing. So, by this reasoning are the visions Cognative? That's somewhat disappointing. I still like some of the things I wrote here. Edit: Thanks Cheese
  2. I have an idea. I was reading The Way of Kings, the part where Kaladin has the vision in the chapter Child of Tanavast, when I had a thought. How do visions work in the Cosmere? Is it done in the, Physical, Cognative, or Spiritual realm? Let's take them one by one. First, the Physical realm. The Physical realm is bound by the laws of physics unless assisted by the Spiritual realm (a spren). That is why the term "extranatural" coined by Syl is so funny to me, but that's a side tangent. It's not possible to have a vision in the Physical realm. Next, the Cognative realm. As far as we know, it exists in parallel with the Physical realm. If the body that a cognition* is tied to moves, so does the cognition. If the physical body doesn't move in a vision, neither does the cognition. Lastly, the Spiritual realm. We know next to nothing of this realm. All we really know is that the spirit lives on after the body dies. After that, it's all a mystery. Suppose the Spiritual realm doesn't always exist in parallel with the other two realms. What if the spirit is capable of moving on its own, away from the body and the cognition? If that is true, what if it can only move away from a body and cognition if the two are resting and if aided by investiture? What grants investiture? Spren. A powerful spren, say... the Stormfather, could potentially pull a man's spirit put of its parallel existence with its body and cognition and towed it along the edge of a storm while the body was sleeping. Now. That being said, how does that work with Dalinar's visions? Are spirits bound to entropy, which is a law of physical time? Can they in fact move through time if aided by investiture and the Stormfather? It would mean that Dalinar's spirit is being thrown through time, then brought back into the present (as the body perceives the present) all in the course of a highstorm. Amazing. Also, is this the way world hopping works? Jumping through the worlds on a Spiritual level and waiting for your body and cognition to catch up? That would be interesting (an understatement, I know). It would also require a special type of investiture. A shardpoool, perhaps? A place where the power of shards coalesces into a concentrated pool? That would make it easier for the spirit to leave the parallel existence it theoretically occupies. This is, as far as I know, a new concept and needs more proof until I can hammer it out. But consider the possibility of everything existing in parallel until investiture gets involved and makes it possible for a spirit to move about freely. *Cognition is the term I want to use from here on out to mean the Cognative state of something.
  3. Double post on purpose. I'm still looking for three more people to play. Post below if you're interested.
  4. Bro. I got into the Cosmere through WoK. It's almost like you don't read every single post I make. It hurts to know that.
  5. I'm betting that everyone has a little bit of oculator in the them, but only the most pure lines can use the most difficult lenses. The Warrior's Lenses take a long time to learn how to use. Thanks for all of the info! If you have any lenses to use in updating, please post them here. I'll get to the coppermind soon and get all this in there.
  6. Not only did he survive, but he also was able to think clearly.
  7. Anti logic muffins give me the ability to add 2+2 and get a pickle.
  8. You people are the worst and your are also wrong. Take the spikes out at they lose all ferochemical tendencies. The trick is getting near the spikes. If they are in too vital a place, then they will die when the spikes are removed.
  9. I don't care if you change your characters when we start. I also don't care if you are a girl. I might make the girl the cobbler. Idk. Anyhow, I'm only trying to see who would be willing to consider it. Those that do will get to be in it.
  10. Okay, that's one! Welcome, Mr. Pitterpuff.
  11. Hi! Welcome to the forum! Word of advice, don't take Amy food made or offered to you by forumers. Ever. All of them are laced with something or spiked with something. This is the only advice I can give you. The choice must be yours. What's your favourite Sanderson book?
  12. This guy has laced his lies with truth. Do not take any cookies. Do not take ANY food offered by forumers. Ever. Eat only food you have made for yourself. That is the only warning I can give you as the choice must be yours. Anyway, welcome! Have an up vote! What's your favourite Sanderson book?
  13. I am creating a RP in which I will play the part of God and will speak through prophets and the King. When or Amy of the priests make laws or religious proclamations, you may listen to them or disobey them at your own peril. I will create natural disasters, personal disasters, and community disasters to be introduced whenever I feel like it. There will be five playable characters. The first five to post character profiles here will be the people who play. I will set you in a kingdom, setting one of you up as a squire for a knight, one as a blacksmith apprentice, one as a cobblers son, one as a farmer, and one as a physician's assistant. One of the playable characters is a spy for the King among the common peeps, but only the spy will know who it is. The purpose of the game is to become King. Build everything you can, become the best in your field, kill the King, take power. The characters attitudes and daily choices are up to you. If you decide you want to change your job, you have to work for it, get educated in the field, and convince someone to train you. Remember, the more you know the more people will be willing to accept you as King. Prayer feature: message me with requests to help your character in game. If I think it's feasible, I'll help you. I'll answer every "prayer" that comes. Basically, this is an experiment. I've never really tried this kind of set up before.
  14. I have a bit of a problem with it. Right now, you have two powers: Alchemy and Ferochemy. If you add a shardblade, you might be a little op. Maybe a dead one, so you don't have any surges?
  15. Good to see you have followed that advice. Take an up vote for not partaking of the evil on the forum.
  16. As a character study, it wouldn't be too far fetched for him to do that.
  17. Okay, look. You established that you had allomancy, but now you all of a sudden have lashings? Nope. Nope. Try again, bro. Dent observed the short battle between Panda and Winter and sighed. He hated when he didn't know what he was up against. Pandas were cheating bastards sometimes. He lashed himself to Panda and landed on him feet first, pushing him to the side away from Winter. As Panda stumbled, Dent swung his shardblade toward Panda's head.
  18. That is relying heavily on the assumption that it isn't a straight up reincarnation of herself. If what you say is true, then why don't her powers vary slightly every time she brings another version of herself out of the void? Not all of her powers would be the same, and the weakness would be different. Instead, it's all the same. She even retains memories of herself (except of her dying).
  19. "I know what I want. I want to see the DA gone. You seem to want peace more than anything, but what do you do when your peace is threatened by others? Do you defend yourself, or do you roll over? You've said that you'll fight. Now do it." Dent turned, shardblade falling into his hand. He lunged toward Voidus.
  20. A gust of wind flew out of Dents glasses, pushing Winter, Voidus, and Screwloose off balance. He sucked in just enough stormlight to get himself close enough to Winter to get her out of the fight. If she wasn't going to help, she was going to hinder. He lashed himself toward her, landing lithley two feet away. "You need to go," Dent said holding his hand out to the side. "Now."
  21. As Dent watched the appearing warriors, his heart sank. All his magics were good for at the moment were defense. He was no Mistborn, he wasn't an Epic, and he wasn't a Rithmatist. All he had were his glasses and his lashings. He couldn't use Stormlight without giving away his position, so he put his Windbringers lenses on his nose. Windbringers lenses for a Windrunner, he thought, smiling to himself as he scanned the battle field. That's a good combination. Dent watched as Panda and Winter met on the skyscraper, the one of three out here in the quickly developing roughs. To his disappointment, Winter just seemed to stare at him and jump away. What was with her? Was she so focused on her shortcomings that she couldn't do anything useful against the people who had given her those shortcomings? Or was it a more simple answer? Was she just bat crap crazy? Watching carefully for attackers, Dent backed into the shadows of one of the skyscrapers. No point in exposing himself more than he needed.
  22. damnation. All Dent can do is watch as his stormlight wears off and the mistcloak continues to strangle the Panda.
  23. The weight loss made the Panda fly faster into the air than Dent had intended. I'm pretty sure he'll run out of air soon, he thought.
  24. Panda's hesitation gave dent five precious seconds. He awakened Panda's mistcloak giving the command, "Strangle things." He felt the breaths leave him and the world grow dimmer. He stepped away from the Panda and lashed him to the sky, directly above him. He watched Panda fly into the sky quickly, struggling with the cloak.
  25. A better list of them is actually here: http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcatraz_Versus_the_Scrivener's_Bones I was just wishing for a better one.
