Sorry. Sense of humor up and left. I'm just wallowing in annoyance at my own weakness now.

Twi is younger than I am. (I wish there were a cure for asthma. Being able to roam freely without playing a constant game of Dodge the Smokers would be nice.)

Oh, no, it's definite proof. I am deathly allergic to tobacco smoke. When I was 8, I was just getting over a nasty bout of croup when I got a pretty solid dollop of exposure to secondhand smoke. It put me in the hospital. I'll probably never know whether it just triggered my first asthma attack that was gonna happen someday anyway or if it actually caused some sort of damage to my respiratory system that caused my asthma period.

I'm pretty hard to miss - I've got waist-length red hair. Plus my screen name will be my badge name. ....and there is a greater than zero chance that I will be wearing an armored Jean Grey costume at least one day of con.

Welcome! Beware of those who bear cookies, for they intend to spike you. And I guess I'll be meeting you at JordanCon!

I gave you a whole field of daisies! What more do you want, man? Or Sharknado. (The first time I watched it, James had the codec messed up and there was no sound. We watched the entire movie the first time with no dialogue. It didn't matter.)- 1963 replies

Finally. Proof that we're not the same person involved in wacky time travel shenanigans. I'm very sorry to report that it tastes nothing like it smells.

Random Stuff VIII: The Admin Special

Oh, look. Some random Greek dude just sent me a friend request on Facebook. Hello, delete button! Wow. You kids these days and your newfangled technology. See, what happens is this: The machine eats the occasional random sock and swallows it. There is a tiny singularity at the back of the throat of each machine, and that sucks the sock in, where it is subjected to intense gravitational forces as it falls into the miniature black hole. Those forces twist and change it into tangled clothes hangars. The other end of the hole opens up into someone's closet, and that's where tangled clothes hangars come from.- 1963 replies

Things That Are True: 1. I <3 spring. 2. I only have four more car payments left! 3. In three weeks I will be at JordanCon. 4. I have a ton of costume-making to do in those three weeks. 5. Hancock Fabrics is going out of business. The entire chain is liquidating Is sad. 6. I am about to go to my local Hancock Fabrics to get things before they are no more. 7. We've been able to live almost entirely on leftover ham this past week.- 1963 replies

Keeping poor Kaymyth's brain from exploding is just a handy side benefit.

Yeah....that's the thing about UU's. We can't decide ANYTHING without creating a committee and voting on it. Big things that involve the entire Unitarian Universalist Association take, like, three years to implement because everybody has to agree. My congregation takes voting to an extreme, and we can't pass any business without Consensus. Basically, everyone present at the meeting has to agree to the thing in order for the thing to happen.

I think it's a big LDS conference. The UUA has something similar every year, called General Assembly, that bounces from city to city, and is stuffed full of seminars and committees and things. I think the main difference is that our GA is full of Unitarian Universalists, while the GC that other folks are talking about is full of Mormons.

It's used in some parts of the States, too; I sometimes pronounce it that way, and sometimes the other way. I am gloriously inconsistent. Accents in the U.S. can vary wildly by region, or even rural vs. urban in the same state. This country is really big and pretty heavily populated in places. I have the advantage of having spent my childhood living in different places, so my natural accent is a blend that comes out pretty neutral. Though there's really no excuse for me using "y'all" on occasion. I blame Texas cousins. English is bizarre, especially American English. I think we've swiped a lot more words from other languages than our progenitors across the pond.

I generally assume it's both.

Yeah, the lack of sex in Brandon's work isn't because the characters aren't having it. It's just that with his particular background, he's not comfortable with writing it. And while there are those of us who feel that leaves certain relationships lacking a vital piece of life, it's his work and he's totally entitled to write what he wants to write. But so are you. As for canon vs. non-canon...well. I think you'll find when I (finally) start getting Swift as Steel posted around here, I'm walking a thin line between trying not to totally contradict canon but still stay true to keeping my own story interesting.

Generally, authors shy away from knowing anything about the fanfic about their works for a number of reasons. I don't think that I've ever seen anything about Brandon's opinion on this specifically, but I think his opinion on fanfic in general is pretty relaxed. But he's never going to read it, so I don't know that the content would really affect him too much personally. Personally, I don't put sexual content in my Mistborn fic because it would just feel weird to me to change the style of fiction that drastically. It's got nothing to do with my willingness to write that sort of thing in general, because I'm perfectly happy to throw it into my original stuff if it's appropriate to the story (though obviously those are things I'd never be able to post here).
