Kaladins gonna fall in love with veil(spoilers)
Kyats Rani replied to Wit422's topic in Stormlight Archive
Technically that is possible... Though there's still the matter of Kaladin currently leaving Urithiru for an unknown amount of time. So much can happen that there's a possibility that he will never even have a chance to see Veil in the first place (not to mention that Shallan pretends to be Veil only while dealing with Ghostbloods so technically - sneaking around and taking part in secret meetings). I do agree with you about the lighteyes part. But I heavily disagree with the opinion that Kal falling in love with Veil would be great. To me it would be an awful turn of events. The last thing I want to see in SA is a love triangle between Kaladin, Adolin and Shallan in any way (even including Veil). But of course, everyone can have their own opinion -
It's a good thing that when the accident happened Kaladin managed to keep calm and help Adolin before the ambulance came... Which wasn't easy with hysterical Navani standing right behind him As to breaking a leg... It's just Adolin's luck (with some aid of a player from the opponent team who purposefuly crashed into said leg on Sadeas' orders - and he wasn't particularly skinny...). Unfortunetely nothing can be proven in a court as Sadeas denies everything with the help of his wife Ialai - a very talented lawyer. Whenever Jasnah sometimes drops by during the movie she teams up with Kal, pointing out every single logical fallacy, unrealistic situation and scientific inaccuracy. That is, she does it until Renarin and Adolin start throwing pillows to shut her up Kal has it better - he doesn't hesitate to throw said pillows back which usually results in a full blown pillow fight lasting until the nurse kicks out all of the visitors Jasnah would never admit it, but among the chaos she also uses her chance to hit one of her cousins with a pillow  Generally, half of the hospital's year budget was spent on sedatives for the doctors and nurses who were led to the edge of mental breakdown because of the Kholins and their friends  After Adolin recovered the whole family was banned from this hospital forever I assume Zahel is the team's coach... And Nightblood is the nickname of his son who sometimes drops by during the trainings and creeps everyone out. The kid is a huuge fan of Batman/Iron Man/enter any other superhero, and dreams of being a vigilante superhero himself so he could destroy the evil Syl is in the same class with him and she always argues with him that a superhero should focus on protecting the innocents and not killing the evildoers (she's a fan of superhero comics herself and her favourite is Captain America as he suits her idea of a proper hero the most). Actually, Syl won't admit it to anyone, but in her eyes, her big brother is the best superhero And additionally Shallan would have her fair share of contribution to Fanfiction.net and Archive of Our Own Poor Szeth, forever alone... He would focus on so tiny details that many people will accuse him of making it up and lying...

Well, I never pretended to be normal... Normal is boring Ok, I get your point. And while I knew you meant American football I know next to nothing abour the matter (besides the fact that they throw themselves at each other and at the ground in a big piles ). I just wanted to put Adolin in a hospital but I guess concussion works out pretty well too and right, I didn't catch the pun As for Adolin's head in WoR... I'd say it's in a pretty bad state... In case I lost count - how many times he had his head injured? During the fight with Szeth and later while fighting 4 shardbearers...

The first time Kaladin actually visits Adolin at his place he enters the mansion and is all like "holy crap it's a freaking palace". Upon finding out about the house staff which is always available on every whim (Kal is surprised that somebody wants to hang his jacket for him and argues with the butler for a while) he calls Adolin a spoiled Princeling. The nickname stays forever. Actually, after finding out that Kaladin has a rock band, Adolin decided to support his friend (especially since he liked their music) so he bought them new (exclusive and pricey) instruments and other equipment. Kaladin refused to accept the gift as it was way too expensive. They argued about it for at least two weeks. In the end Adolin simply left all this in Kal's garage where the rest of the band found it and bullied Kal into accepting the gift. But Kal remained grumpy about it and insisted that he must somehow return the favor. He was walking down the street lost in thought and suddenly an unknown girl bumped into him. Due to this they both fell to the ground but unfortunetely the girl's heel broke though she was otherwise unharmed. A slightly older girl who was accompanying the unlucky redhead snapped at Kaladin and started demanding a public apology and a retribution, loudly proclaiming the incident his fault and threatening him with taking the matter to the court, but the redhead claimed that as an apology she just wants Kal's boots. He tried to argue but in the end he returned home bare footed which gave Syl a good few weeks of laughter. Few days later it turned out that the forementioned girl managed to track him down (with the help of Gaz - an ex-bully with whom Kaladin often had problems back in the high school) and gave him back his boots. She introduced herself as Shallan and apologized for her friend's behaviour that day. She also mentioned that she's not hanging out with Tyn anymore. As a way to repay Kal for his inconvenience she invited him to grab some coffee. When she said that she just moved to the city and asked if he could show her around a bit he immediately declined, but after a while suggested he knows someone else who would like to be her guide. This way he arranged a meeting between Adolin and Shallan for what both are very thankful to him. And after every single training Adolin goes first to Kal's place to have him patch him up a bit so his aunt won't see anything Navani was actually completely elated when Adolin first invited Kaladin over. Not only she was happy that the boy finally found himself a real friend (and not someone who hangs out with him only because of the money and prestige), but also that Adolin's friend was a future doctor. She even personally calls to Kaladin to invite him to every single game Adolin plays in (even if Adolin has already invited him and the other guys as well) and then proceeds to take a seat by his side so she can pester him with questions on Adolin's potential injuries. Renarin always seats on the other side of Kaladin to act as a moral support for him. That one time when Adolin didn't get up Kaladin left his seat and ran to his friend, taking care of the first aid before the ambulance arrived. Fortunately the injury was not life-threatening - just a broken leg and few ribs. Adolin spent the next month in hospital with Navani costantly freaking out and asking him to give up on this sport. But luckily for him he also had better company too - Kaladin and Renarin were dropping by every day with video games and/or scary movies (they had a game they played - who will better pretend not to be scared of the horror) along with unhealthy snacks. And of course Shallan was visiting too but she always avoided Navani - it was only a beginning of their relationship and she thought that Navani didn't like her because she was much younger than Adolin. In fact at first Navani did blame "this new girl" for Adolin's injury thinking that he was too focused on her (well, she did wave to him from her seat but that was long before the accident) to watch for himself. But with time she started to like Shallan too (and Kaladin helped with that as well...). By the way - in this context stormlight sound like some kind of a drug

I tend to think that they know but they misinterpret them...

I can't decide if you deserve the upvote more because of the Grave Yards or Lift in Masterchef Shallan was once invited to the Kholin Wii tournament by Renarin and Kaladin much to Adolin's horror (he didn't want her to see him lose so badly). She has beaten everyone, even our head geek of the family Renarin (though he says it was only newbie's luck). She didn't even make fun of Adolin (much) but she keeps mentioning the way he plays (moving with the controler) ever so often. She was surprised to find out that the women who used to be her tutor in history and philosophy is a cousin of her boyfriend Currently Shallan is in the art school but plans to study natural history later on. She likes to imitate other people and is very good at pantomime (and a champion of charades). She often has her parrot named Pattern help her with mimicking others - she does the acting and Pattern supplies voice as he's very good at imitating voices of people. Ever since the high school Adolin was a great heartbreak as he has dated every girl in the school (starting from cheerleaders and ending with shy geeks) but it never worked out. Renarin likes to torment him by reminding him of all his previous relationships. Kaladin and Adolin met for the first time when Adolin tried to woo one pretty girl but she turned out to be Kal's fan. Because of that Adolin started to hate Kaladin with great passion as he saw him as his rival. The feeling was mutual as Kaladin thought Adolin to be just another spoiled rich kid who throws a fit when he doesn't get what he wants (a girl in this situation). Everything changed when Adolin was attacked by a few thugs in a dark alley while coming back home (they were in fact sent by the Chasmfiends to make him unable to play in the upcoming game) and Kaladin came to his rescue (he won't admit it to anyone, but he used to train karate and even earned a black belt). While walking to Kal's house (as it was closer) to take care of Adolin's wounds (rather minor ones) they started to talk and realized that they were very mistaken about each other. Ever since then they are the bestest friends ever. And Adolin met a certain redhead so he's not antagonising Kal over stealing all the girls anymore. Especially since he knows that Kaladin is not interested any of them (it has to do with the fact he still can't stop thinking about a girl he met on the karate trainings few years ago, but unfortunetely she moved to a different country). For some reason Rock greatly admires Kaladin's sister (possibly because he believed into what she wrote on the internet ) and always shows her respect to Kal's annoyance. And Syl likes to be admired. She's part of a drama club in her school and she always wants to play the main roles. By the way, Glys can be Renarin's dog

I see your point But I thought about "What do we say to the god of death? Not today" thing from GoT...
-
This one is not that bad... Just one with little to no evidence at all which is in fact a byproduct of my exuberant imagination Before I started to ponder over Roshone and what possible motiavtionhe could have I was thinking mostly of Kaladin and his family, how will their reunion look like and what it may lead to. It's not a spoiler at all. I'm just putting my theory inside so if somebody is afraid to read it it can be easily skipped without even looking at it

I see also Teft as a manager of the band, now I'm looking for a potential chief of their fanclub But I thought the Bridge 4 would be the name of the band... What it is by the way? And am I correctly assuming that Kal is studying medicine? Now, Adolin struggles to live up to his father's legend. But he has problems with Torol Sadeas, who after stopping playing himself, kept to his hobby and became the coach of Whitespines' greatest rivals - the Chasmfiends. Sadeas often speaks wrongly about Dalinar, making comments on how he decayed in his old age and left the sport because he was too incapable of keeping on. Now I want to hear Dalinar's interpretation I wonder if Jasnah and Navani take part in the tournament... I'd rather see Jasnah in the background, looking at her male relatives (and their friend Kal) and shaking her head pityingly. And Renarin is totally the champion every single week. And when Elhokar loses to him he whines that it's only because it's Renarin who keeps tab on the scores And Kaladin will forever make fun of him because of this. Even Shallan will finally suggest Adolin to reduce the amount of information at least a bit... There is nothing better then a photo of delicious chocolate cake posted on a forum where people try not to eat chocolate... Lift will be the biggest fan of Rock's cooking show And she will ramble about this all the time to her favourite potted plant which she named Wyndle Or at least a tiny piece of one Soon she will be banned from them all. On another note: I love the image of Syl being Kaladin's younger sister who would constantly pester him and pull pranks on him and his bandmates during rehearsals in the garage. She will be the kind of sibling that all of Kal's friends would constantly hear about but hardly ever really see. She would also constantly try to convince her brother to try bungee jumping... and prefarably take her with him

[Theory] It has been foreshadowed that Adolin will be a Radiant.
Kyats Rani replied to eveorjoy's topic in Stormlight Archive
I have a feeling that the words didn't simply appear in Shallan's mind either. She must've found them written somewhere or heard someone stating them for one reason or another so later she embraced it as the first ideal (unless that's what you mean and I misunderstood it ). But I wouldn't say that Teft telling Kaladin the ideal is cheating. That way Kal learned the words but he had to understand them for it to have any meaning. It makes sense that every Radiant should come up with the other oaths on their own as they're about the certain idea not the proper wording, so a proto-Radiant must only "find" the right idea in his heart and somehow pu it into words. But the first oath has an exact wording. It's unlikely to think that anyone can come up with this (exactly and word after word) completely on their own. I think the first oath is given to a person and they must understand it not think it up by themselves. I agree. One way or another we will know all oaths of every single order. We may not witness the Radiant speaking them for the first time, but we will learn what they are about. As you said, they may mention to other Radiants what their oaths were about. I guess we may not necessarily see every oath as a quote, but we will at least hear what was their general meaning, as the oaths are not about words used but the idea conveyed. I hope we will learn about how that happened (maybe in Renarin's flashbacks or maybe he will tell someone). Generally, ever since Renarin revealed himself as Truthwatcher I assumed he was the one to write those numbers, but I have no idea how (at least no logical idea). Besides the fact that the writings appeared when Dalinar was alone there is nothing exlipticly pointing than he could do it. In fact, I always wondered why all of sudden would Dalinar do this as I found nothing in the text indicating that it's something he would do. I mean, if it were from him he would have propably seen it in his visions or Stromfather would tell him. Why would he unconsciously write glyphs on the walls? -
No, I don't want to turn him into a good guy. The way I imagined it he is not just a mean, malicious bastard, he's a mean, malicious bastard with a motivation. The characters that are evil/mean for the sake of being evil/mean are boring. It's much more fun to have an evil/mean character who thinks he's doing the right thing, at least in his own view. I don't try to explain the matter of the silversmiths. That was purely Roshone's selfishness. He wanted an obstacle out of the way so he had it out of the way. But I would find that amusing if Roshone didn't just get revenge on Lirin for being unable to save Rillir but did this and made himself believe he did it for the greater purpose to justify his actions. He wanted to get back at the surgeon but he found a way to make himself the good guy because of that (at least in his eyes). The thing is, I don't like the antagonists being the bad guys just for the sake of being bad guys. I like to see them having motivations that make them the good guys in their eyes (valid ones, not just "if I ruled the world there would be peace"). I can't currently think of a good example of what I mean (or I can think of one but it's from one anime so I'm not sure if I should post it... ). In short: it's more interesting when the characters are more grey than black or white. As for my imagination - nothing is impossible there And before I had another theory concerning the Envisagers and Kaladin's past. And this Roshone one doesn't completely rule it out. But all of my theories are rather wild ones
-
While I won't dig for the exact quote, somewhere before we were discussing here the matter of Kaladin and Roshone (about the forgiveness). I was just taking a shower and I had this wild theory about that... But I'll admit it's not exactly a real theory since there is no evidence, it's just something I'd like to see. Earlier I said that I have troubles imagining Kal simply forgiving Roshone everything he did against his family. That may be because I have seen Roshone only as a mean and malicious man with little to no depth in this regard. Somebody (maxal I think, but I may be mistaken) pointed out that we know nothing of Roshone and his motives and maybe in Stones Unhallowed we will see a different side of him. I accepted that and came to the conclusion that Kaladin should forgive Roshone but in my opinion Roshone must first prove not to be just a mean and malicious man. I've forgotten about that for a while but for some reason it came back to me today, leading me to thinking up the following scenario. Before I get to my idea I'd like to explain one more thing. When Teft was speaking of the Envisagers he said that there may be others that he is unaware of. Now, why would he be unaware of them? Propably because their groups weren't in touch. And why two groups in the same organisation may not be in touch? Because they disagree on something important. At least that's what I think on the matter. So I imagine that there are other groups of Envisagers that have a different way of doing things than the group Teft was a part of. Now, for the idea I had. I thought that Roshone may be an Envisager, only one from the other group. Unlike Teft's group they don't put themselves into danger to awaken Radiant powers. They know more on the matter - they know that to become a Radiant a person must be broken. So what could they do? They look for the people who seem to have a potential to be Radiants (at least to the Envisagers - they know the attributes of the orders so they may seek people who can be strongly associated to the attributes of a certain order) and try to put them in a situation where they could be broken. But of course the Envisagers don't know that the choice belongs to the spren and they may have a wrong or incomplete understanding of the attributes. So if Roshone is one of such, he could have considered Lirin a potential Edgedancer (Loving and Healing) and do his best to break him. Hence everything he did against their family (including sending away Tien). He did a wrong thing but he believed it to be for the greater good. Now, Kaladin comes back and is forced to fight Voidbringers. Roshone finds out that he is a Radiant. Then he reveals his identity as an Envisager to Kal, who is very surprised but in the end understands what caused Roshone to do the things he did. And he can forgive. I know very well that this idea has so many holes that it can be used as a strainer. But I still think it's cool

Ideas and ramblings on the future of SA characters

On the Matter of Wedding Dances part 2 The wedding ceremony was beautiful. Everything went perfectly, both Kaladin and Tarah seemed to shine with happiness as they were saying their vows. Their outfits looked great and somehow matched brilliantly. Now was the time for the first dance that was supposed to be led by the newlyweds. Kaladin was actually pretty good after the training he underwent with Adolin. He didn't mess up the steps and proved to be able to move with grace if he wanted to. He didn't even wince when his new wife kept stepping on his toes. Now Tarah... The woman was a disaster. She tumbled over her feet and couldn't get even one part correctly, tripping and awkwardly moving against the rhythm. It was very bad... And now she managed to trip over her own foot during a simple rotation, falling onto the table and ripping her beautiful dress... Shallan awoke with a scream. What a nightmare, she thought. She looked around her chamber and found herself alone. After checking the sun she realised she still had few hours until the evening feast. Lately, she tended to feel very tired ever so often so she took to having a nap every afternoon. Still she didn't want to get up but her dream enveloped her in dread. "Mmmm... You worry..." murmured Pattern. "Why worry?" "The wedding is at the end of the week. So soon... We have a problem" Shallan claimed, quickly getting up and preparing herself to leave the room. "Where are you going?" asked the spren. "I must do something to prevent the disaster!" shouted Shallan, hurrying down the corridor. This is bad, this is bad, this is bad... she thought frantically. The time was tunning out. Why I didn't realize it earlier? she berated herself. It was as obvious as anything that Tarah, of all people, wouldn't know how to dance. She had the heart of a whitespine but the grace of a chull. With her obvious dislike of all the feminime arts she would never have learned something like dancing. The poor girl is going to make a fool of herself on her wedding day! I must do something. I must... She stopped before the doors to the library. she will need help. As soon as she entered, both women in the room looked at her. "Shallan?" asked Jasnah with a surprise in her voice. "I thought you would be still resting." "Resting? Are you unwell, child?" immediately chimed in Navani with concern in her voice. "No, I am fine, I was just tired" Shallan assured her. "But Tarah needs our help..." "Did something happen?" Jasnah furrowed her brow. "Not yet! But if we don't do something her wedding will be ruined!" "And why is that?" asked Navani. "She's... She's just herself! You know her! She will trip all over herself and do something stupid! We must help her when we still can!" Shallan was getting more panicked by the seconds. "What are you talking about?" demanded Jasnah. "The dancing! We must teach her how to dance or else it will be all ruined!" Navani exchanged looks with her daughter and gracefully stood up, taking Shallan by her arm. "Of course, dear. We will go and help her." As the three women were nearing the doors to Tarah's room, Shallan was beginning to act even more frantically. What if it's too late? What if we don't manage to teach her on time? If she's so hopeless that nothing can help? It will be a disaster, oh, it will be a disaster! Navani eyed her with concern. Suddenly Pattern started to buzz with annoyment. "Pattern?" asked Ivory, wondering why his friend acts like this. "She's there" the Cryptic exclaimed with displeasure. For a while Ivory focused on the nearing door and nodded. "Yes, she is" he admitted. "Who's there? Tarah?" asked Jasnah, looking at her spren. "The charming one" he answered, somehow timidly. Jasnah furrowed her brow but she had no time to ponder over the spren's behaviour as Shallan already managed to throw the door open. "Tarah! We must help you!" Tarah stood in the middle of ther room, confused, Syl fluttering around her head. "Help me? With what?" she asked. Before Shallan managed to answer, Syl wrinkled her nose and snorted. "Who invited the Cryptic here? We were having so much fun! Tarah was showing me how to dance!" "Dance?" Navani raised her brow. "You dance?" asked Jasnah, not showing her surprise. Tarah blushed and avoided her eyes. "Well, yeah, I kinda do. I always liked to." To prove her point she made a few piruettes. Storms, she's graceful like a windspren, noted Jasnah. She definitely didn't expect that. "Yes! And she was showing me how to! And I will teach Ivory, Glys and others too!" chimed Syl happily. Jasnah looked to her spren who seemed to be uncomfortable and tried to avoid looking at the honorspren. For a second she thought he actually blushed. Interesting... I wonder if the spren can feel the romantic emotions too... Meanwhile Shallan let out a VERY loud sigh of relief. "Oh, Tarah, it's great! I was so worried you would make a fool of yourself on your wedding!" "Why would I?" asked Tarah, surprised. "The dancing..." "Oh, please! I'm a soldier not a lady but I do know how to dance." "But you never... I mean you acted like you didn't care, you know... I had that dream so I was afraid something will go wrong and..." Shallan tumbled over words, slowly calming down. Jasnah rolled her eyes. "We are sorry for interrupting you. We will be on our way" she said, helping her mother haul Shallan outside, leaving befuddled Tarah alone with Syl. "But don't you dare tell anyone!" shouted Tarah after them as soon as she recovered from her shock. "Now," Navani claimed, gently tugging Shallan back towards her rooms. "I believe there's something we must talk about..." Jasnah winced. She knew what Navani wanted to talk about and she didn't need to be there. She already suspected it anyway... "Come, Ivory. We are going back to the library" she commanded. "I promise I won't pester you with questions about your behaviour towards Sylphrena." At least not too much... Ok, the second part is done. It's not propably so funny, but I like it anyway Now we know where was Syl while Adolin and the bridgemen tortured Kal... As for Ivory's crush on Syl... It's just a cute headcanon of mine I wonder who will catch my subtle hint... It's nothing evil but... Patter and Syl dislike each other because of the whole Cryptics vs honorspren thing. I hope I got Jasnah right, but I'm not too sure... And before you say something, I had Shallan act this way for a reason  -
If Kaladin obtained Nightblood even for a short time (to take him to Urithiru for example) then Syl would be VERY jealous. I mean, come on! She is his talking super-sword and she won't take any competition

Oh, thanks! Now it makes sense But still in my opinion "manslaughter" sounds way worse than "murder". Even if I know what it really means, the term manslaughter makes me think of a serial killer slaughtering everyone around him Though according to the definition and not my personal feelings, what Adolin did was manslaughter.

maxal, you certainly made my day Who else is in Kaladin's band? And what instruments would they use? I'd see Kal as a lead singer and guitarist, Rlain on the drums (he would be so many black and red tattoos that his skin is almost invisible) and Skar with the bass And maybe someone else, but by now I don't know who... I thought it would be Proper Cooking for Airsick Lowlanders And he should have his own restaurant The Peaks in which Kaladin's band would perform once in a week and come every other day after gigs/rehearsals to eat his countrywide famous stew. I think Sigzil would travel to many different countries and have his own TV show on their culture an local myths/urban legends/etc. And I totally see Navani having her own show on Discovery Science Elhokar would be very active on Facebook and Twitter, mostly whining or showing off how great he is being a CEO of important business he (unfortunetly) inherited after his father's death. Adolin (with some help from Kaladin and Shallan) would always make fun of him and play pranks on him but Elhokar will never find out it's his cousin doing this. Jasnah wouldn't be too keen on social media but she would be an active member of few historical and scientific forums.

After all, the oaths are about a certain idea not the exact wording... But the "not today" part makes me think of Arya Stark

Ideas and ramblings on the future of SA characters

Ok, this is an idea I have had for quite some time and finally I have the time and brain capacity to write it down after I'm done with exams for at least a week On the Matter of Wedding Dances part 1 Kaladin doesn't dance. Just no. Like a horse doesn't fly, or a chicken doesn't swim, or an axehound doesn't talk, or... "Come on, Bridgeboy!" Adolin called out exasperated. "What is your problem?" "I don't dance, Princeling" grunted Kaladin. Rock and Sigzil, sitting by the wall nearby, looked at each other and rolled their eyes. The discussion was going on for at least few hours now and didn't show any signs of ending. "Do I have to spell it to you?" groaned the Kholin prince. "You are going to get married. It's tradition that the bride and the groom lead the first dance. Therefore you MUST do it." "I don't dance." Adolin barely stopped himself from slaming his head on the nearest wall. Why did Renarin have to choose today of all days to accompany Lift in checking the greenhouses? He looked around searching for potential support and spotted the two unfortunate bridgemen, who by then started to play "who can yawn louder". "Rock! Sigzil! Back me up, will you?" shouted Adolin in their direction. The forementioned two looked to him and then at their captain. "Well, he is right, Kal" muttered Sigzil. "In Alethi tradition and in almost every other I know of." "Just get to it and let's have it done with!" yelled Rock. "I have to go and take care of the supper. If tonight I have the whole hungry Bridge 4 on my back I will tell them it's the fault of you two." Apparently, even he could lose his patience. Especially in a situation like this. And everything started with Adolin coming to them to ask them for help in teaching Kaladin how to dance: Sigzil with his flute and Rock with his general musical ability. They tried to warn him, they did. But the prince didn't listen. And now they were wasting time. "Damnation, Kal! The steps are simple! It's nothing compared to the spear kata you always do! Why must you be stubborn like a chull?" Adolin has had ENOUGH. "Storm off, Princeling! I. Do. Not. Dance. Ever." "It's your wedding, Kaladin! You must!" chimed in another voice. All four looked to those that have just arrived. Leyten stood in the doorway with Rlain looming behind him in his warform. "And do it quick" he added. "We are getting hungry and we want our cook back." The Parshendi, silent until then, joined the discussion. "If you don't I'll ask Lopen and his cousins to teach you instead." Kaladin visibly paled and looked closely at the Parshendi, trying to determine whether or not he was serious. He seemed to be. Kaladin looked at all of the others and saw similair determination in their faces. Finally, he gave up and groaned. "Fine! Have it your way! Just stop pestering me!" And under his breath he added "Yeah, gang up on me, why not. Some loyalty you show. I guess I'm lucky Syl decided to go off somewhere or else she would be against me as well." Adolin actually let out a whoop of joy. Phase one, Force the Bridgeboy to Learn How to Dance: complete. Now for the real challenge - actually doing it. That's it for now. Later I'll add two more parts: one about Tarah and one about the wedding itself. Few explanations: -Hoid plays a flute and Sigzil is his non-Vorin student so I decided he could play as well. And Rock sings. -I don't know if there really is such a tradition in Vorin culture but I thought it would be fun. -As for Syl... There is a reason she's not accompanying Kal right now (and it's not because I felt pity for him... definitely not ) -

And I keep very much hoping that he will meet her and absolutely NOTHING will come out of this . In my opinion Kaladin deserves much better - a women who would love him for who he is as a person not for his status. Laral wanted him to win a Shardblade and become a lighteyes so it's painfully obvious she didn't really accept/like him the way he was - a darkeye of second nahn, he wasn't good enough for her. And later she clearly didn't care for Kal as she openly took Rillir's side against him (if she was scared to oppose Rillir she should have steered the conversation elsewhere or simply suggest him to go somewhere else to avoid conflict). If now that he is back as a KR she would claim to have loved him all along and ask him to take her away from Roshone or something idiotic like that I swear I will scream (and belch rainbows...) Something like that would undermine all the character development Kaladin had so far. He can't be petty and vengeful like that, I hope he had learned it by now. I'm not saying that he should just simply forgive but at the very least be civil about it. The ideal situation would be if Kaladin managed to convince everyone to trust him and take care of the village WITHOUT showing off Syl as a Shardweapon. He should be able to achieve that with his own personal qualities not because Shardblades are feared and respected.

[Theory] It has been foreshadowed that Adolin will be a Radiant.

You make a valid statement here. But apparently we see it very differently so let's just peacefully disagree on that As for Lopen - he knew for quite some time that it is possible to heal with stormlight (basing on what he had seen with Kaladin) and he propably thought of healing his arm for quite a long time prior. I mean, he often spoke about wanting to learn how to surgebind giving flying and glowing as his reasons. But I think he secretly just wanted to heal himself but he wouldn't tell anyone about it as he was always trying to make an impression he's not bothered at all by the loss of his arm. -
I'm not saying that the fact it was planned is the only reason to consider it bad. It's just one of the reasons Generally it really is a huge character flaw. But Adolin was generally in a bad psychical state during that time and the hatred towards Sadeas and his doings was building inside him for a long time by then. And Sadeas didn't make matters better for himself by goading him even more. He has also shown considerable amount of guilt so he does regret his actions (but not their purpose - he regrets killing but not getting rid of Sadeas). I'm not saying this to protect Adolin or justify him as what he did was wrong but to show he's not that much rampant as it seems. Ok, I guess the fact that Shallan didn't seem to catch any of Jasnah's emotions after the incident is a very, very poor argument on my side and I apologize for using it But the point still stands that Jasnah tends to take the matters of justice in her own hands and calmly plan murders (that associates also with the fact she was hiring assassins). If Adolin was really so uncontrolable as Sadeas' murder seems to indicate he would have done so long ago. But he is not a ruthless person who plots to kill someone (I'm not saying that Jasnah is...), he just wanted to stand for his father and his family. Taking into account his current character development I totally see him beating himself up due to his guilt in the next book. [EDIT] As for how the murder would affect Adolin's chances of becoming a KR... There's a WoB that some orders would be very happy with what he did to Sadeas. Willshapers for sure and very possibly Dustbringers, but Brandon didn't give a straight answer about them. Pretty much all about this particular matter has been discussed in the thread [Theory] It has been foreshadowed that Adolin will be a Radiant.
