  1. He bonds with a Cryptic (the one that was planning to bond with Elohkar) at the very end of OB.
  2. I like to joke about Lift becoming a worldhopper and eating everyone's lunch. Including Kelsier's. But if she actually does I don't think it'll be until after book 10. She'd have to learn how to get a spren offworld first since that's non-trivial.
  3. He's only 50 something. He'd be somewhere between his late sixties and mid seventies depending on the length of the time gap, and any smaller time skips between books (currently there is a one year skip between books 3 and 4). So he could easily still be alive for book 6 at least.
  4. and now Hoid can Soulcast, so he pretty much has access to infinite or near-infinite supplies, even of the rarer metals like Cadmium and Bendalloy.
  5. I love Kaladin and I'd be sad if he died, but I trust Brandon, and wouldn't stop reading just because one of my favourites died. Besides I kind of suspect Kaladin will die at some point, he feels like the kind of character that's destined to do a heroic sacrifice eventually. So I won't be shocked if he does die.
  6. Yeah it's going to be two five book arcs, set 10-15 years apart. Most of the major characters from the first arc that survive will be in the second arc I think, though they may be a bit more in the background, and some more minor characters in the first arc will be major characters in the second.
  7. I'm female and Shallan is my least favourite of the main three. Jasnah is one of my favourite characters though because I do identify with her a lot. I do think Shallan/Adolin is the better outcome though, because I don't think Shallan and Kaladin would be good for each other, they'd end up exacerbating each other's issues. They both need some relatively stable and grounded.
  8. Personally I ship Venli with Renarin, but that thread did make some good points.
  9. If spren can be gay, then Pattern is gay.
  10. I personally don't think spren do romance, generally speaking, and I definitely don't read romance into the relationship between Kaladin and Syl. They are very close friends/honorary family.
  11. You are not the only one who noticed that (about the 'give me your pain" "I will give you my sorrow" thing). I definitely feel like that means something, what it means I'm not sure though.
  12. (super belated but I like this thread) Still think it's a better story for them to grow together and for her to be revived organically rather than Cultivation just fixing it. Cultivation doesn't seem to be the "ix everything" type anyway, she's much more into giving things a nudge and letting them grow on their own.
  13. Thanks for the birthday wishes.
  14. Probably so.
  15. Shallan was also bonded to Pattern as a kid, we don't even know how young she was. So she's not an example at least as far as we know.
  16. There's a WoB for that. So yeah, he IS naturally talented but also there's weird Spiritual echos going on. The Spiritual Realm is screwy.
  17. and it would be 100 percent obvious in hindsight.
  18. Spren bonds can be "passed" like Seon bonds, though obviously the spren would have to be willing. So Syl could end up bonding one of Kal's kids or grandkids.
  19. I suspect it will be resolved at some point actually as part of Kaladin dealing with his issues. But yeah I can't see Kaladin doing anything other than founding his own house. House Stormblessed indeed.
  20. I'm not sure they actually knew what Shardblades were. We've been told they didn't come to Roshar until well after the Recreance so they might not have known.
  21. I'd love to have double bronze tbh. Never needing to sleep again sounds fab.
  22. Hahaha that's cool. Though I think Maya is an actual name also.
  23. Arclo heavily implies that there are other Sleepless out there (they are busy spying on the main cast and ignoring Lift at that point) Also re the Sibling I got this WoB on Reddit confirming that the Sibling is a non-binary spren who uses "they" pronouns.
  24. It's not mentioned one way or the other whether Cryptics have secondary sex characteristics. I definitely think they'd be more likely to be non-binary then many other types of spren. Also, to comment on the original topic of this thread, I agree with @Toaster Retribution that it would make more sense for the Bondsmiths to be from different cultures, with different viewpoints.
