    To answer the question about Mashadar, he'll continue in the game until he gets killed by a mercenary on the streets. Polite request: please do not edit your PMs to add new information. If we notice people editing PMs (outside of grammatical edits), we'll have to shut down PMs outside of the courier. You don't want this, we don't want this, so let's not make that happen. Send a new PM if you have new information. The PM/post ratio is *meant* to get people talking in the thread more. Not skirting the rules by editing PMs. Thank you.

    Important note: Looking through the spreadsheet, I noticed an error had been made on one of the Masters' DP, and Touka/DeathClutch was supposed to have one more DP than it was showing he had on The Horns tab (yes, the spreadsheet has many tabs. Anyone who knows me and spreadsheets should not be surprised by this fact ). This one DP gave him enough to put him On the Horns. However, the charges were dropped. I've edited this into the results part of the writeup. The rest of the writeup is coming. Later today. Probably. I had a busy night last night and won't have free time enough to write something up until later tonight. Also, the turn's title has changed. We were going to go with Ostrich's vague connection to the Silmarillion and Elbereth, but nothing came to us, and I like the current idea I have far better, so this title is more fitting. We'll save the Ainur title for Elbereth.

    People in Imre can still be elevated. They just can't impress a Master. But if they've already impressed a Master, they could be elevated whilst they are in Imre. There are a number of ways that a Master might not elevate (and this applies to both NPC Masters and PC Masters). One is that no one has EP with that Master so they have no one to elevate. The other is that multiple Masters attempt to elevate the same student. That student will be elevated with the Master he has the most EP with, and the other Master will be left with no one to elevate. He does not get to go back and choose another student to elevate because he already picked one. The student just didn't choose to go with him.

    Term 2: Month 1 - Endless Dreaming [writeup to be edited in] Aeaieis (ostrichofevil) has gone insane! Wilem (Mailliw73) was brought On the Horns but the charges were dropped! Dow (Dowanx) was brought On the Horns but the charges were dropped! Touka Kirishima was brought On the Horns but the charges were dropped! Mind of Akasha (Bridge Boy) was brought On the Horns and charged with Undignified Mischief! He needs to RP an apology. Sasuke Uchia (Weaving Webs) was brought On the Horns and charged with Undignified Mischief! He needs to RP an apology. These students were elevated: Touka Kirishima, Amari, Haelbarde, Pyra Ghetti, Mind of Akasha, Delta Warning: As per the rules, every player must PM the GMs once per term to state where they are lodging (or send in an order in perpetua for your current location). If you do not PM the GMs, you will be on The Streets, even if you can afford the location you are in. Because this is the first term and so many people forgot to send in orders for this, we will give you 12 hours from now to place an order for lodging for Term 2. If you do not let us know in that time frame, you will still be on The Streets.

    Lashes and voting/impressing Masters: I'm going to rule that yes, you can file complaints but you can't impress, since your resting in Medica and even the Master Physicker isn't around enough for you to impress. It's turns. So half cycles. 1 month. The reason it says "x cycles" is because the 3 turns is a cycle and a half.

    Term 1: Month 2 - Not So Forever Young Kliin still felt ill from that tenaculum mixture from earlier. He couldn’t wait until he had an assistant to help him. Another brain to make him forever young…..yes. Yes, that would be quite grand. Someone knocked on the door. “Yes?” “Sorry to bother you, sir,” the master of the inn spoke through the door, “but there’s a young man here to see you. I had him wait at your usual table in the common room. Would you like to see him, or shall I send him away?” Kliin opened the door. “Did he say what he was here for?” The master nodded. “Said something about you needing an assistant and wouldn’t stop waving this paper in my face.” The master showed Kliin one of his own fliers for the assistant position, and Kliin snatched it out of his hand. That was fast, Kliin thought. Barely had to wait a few hours. He hurried past the master, ran down the stairs, and entered the common room, looking toward his table. There he is. Kliin didn’t recognize the man, but he looked sturdy and smart, and that’s really all he needed. Muscle and brains. Good assistant material, that. He sat at the table, placing the flier in front of the man. “You want to help me be forever young?” “I’m interested, yes.” “Excellent. Well, I’m Kliin, obviously. And you are?” The man hesitated for the slightest of seconds before saying, “Ferula.” “Perfect. Do you have any ideas for such a potion?” “One, yes. I heard your tenaculum idea didn’t work out so well. Since you’re so set on using grass, I thought perhaps another plant would perhaps work better. Specifically a mushroom variety. I brought some along, in fact, in case you wanted to get started right on it.” He pulled out a bag and placed it on the table. Kliin’s eyes widened. Felura--no, that wasn’t right. Kliin thought a moment. Ferula. That was it. Ferula was so eager to please him. Must be a lower class. Looks up to us Vintish Nobleman. Jolly good. He’d have to make sure the man was compensated appropriately. “Let’s head up to my little lab, shall we?” Ferula nodded. “Sounds stellar.” An hour later, after much mushroom-crushing, water-boiling, and grass-shredding, the mixture was ready. Kliin held it up, staring at the liquidy, greenish….goop. It looked spectacularly disgusting, but Kliin knew he’d likely tasted far worse things than whatever this tasted like. That tenaculum was pretty horrid. He brought the mug up in a “cheers” motion toward Ferula. “Here’s to youth.” He chugged it. And nearly spat it out. Forcing himself to swallow even the dregs, he put the mug on his desk and sat down. “That was….terrible.” “If it works, does it matter?” “I suppose not. We can always find a way to make the taste more bearable after all.” Kliin’s head felt heavy. And the room started to spin. “I….don’t feel so good. I think that mixture did something to my stomach.” Ferula nodded. “I should think so. They were supposed to, after all.” Kliin tried to look at Ferula, in shock, but the pain was too much. He fell off his chair, hitting the floor on his side. Had the man poisoned him? “What did you do to me?!” “Worry not. The Crockery will suit you well. After all, you actually believed my name was Ferula. Do I look like a Chandrian to you? Trust me, I’m nothing like them. Enjoy your stay, my dear man.” And Ferula left the room, as Kliin started screaming from the pain. - “No! No, no, no, no!” The Master Namer yelled at the Master Physicker, striking his hand on the table in time with his last, emphatic no. “You already let that prat of a Vint off. We’re not letting this one off too!” The Master Physicker rubbed his temples, cringing at the volume of the Master Namer. “You needn’t yell, Ashton. I’m sitting right next to you, and my ears work perfectly well.” “I don’t care about the state of your ears. This University needs to show discipline at this time. We had a dead student in the Crockery, for Tehlu’s sake. There are Skindancers out there! We need to show solidarity and that isn’t by letting off every accursed student who walks through here.” The Master Linguist sighed. “Chancellor? I move for a vote.” The Master Arithmetician nodded. “I’ll second that. Who here thinks that young Corrin here deserves punishment?” The Master Artificer, Sympathist, Alchemist, and Namer all raised their hands as one. “Four for punishment.” The Master Namer cleared his throat. “Five, actually. Martin here is voting too. See?” he said, pointing to his own hand he was trying to pretend was the Master Physicker’s. The Master Phsyicker shook his head and said nothing. “Four,” the Master Arithmetician repeated, “and let it be noted that Master Namer is persistent. Who votes against?” The other Masters voted slowly, but one by one, vote they did. The Master Arithmetician finally looked down at Corrin. “Congratulations. The charges have been dropped.” Corrin breathed a sigh of relief. He still had no idea what he’d even been taken On the Horns for, and as much as he wanted to ask, he didn’t want to press his luck at all. Best to leave while things were still a little in his favor. “If you could send in Silverblade, that will be all. Thank you, Corrin.” He nodded and hurried out of the room. “Your turn,” he muttered to Silverblade as he passed. He had more investigating to do. Time to really figure out what was happening to his family. No time to waste, particularly if what just happened was to be a regular occurrence…. Kliin (Clanky) has gone insane! He is now in The Crockery. Corrin (The Mighty Lopen) was brought On the Horns but the charges were dropped! Silverblade (Silverblade5) was brought On the Horns and was charged with Undignified Mischief! He needs to apologize this turn. PMs are being sent out right now. Everyone should have their PMs now.     1. Studying is referring to being elevated in a field. So even if you have EP elsewhere, you've only studied in that one field, so therefore, you'd have 5 EP instantly added once you become an El'the. 2. No. Unless you're the Master Archivist and have access to Banned Books. 3. Within the University, yes. But there are a number of abilities you can purchase from Imre. A person could completely ignore the University aspect of this game and still be a threat to arcanists simply through the things they can get in Imre.

    Grams bought in Imre have 2 uses. All other items from the Apothecary are single-use items, but since the Gram is more expensive and it's rarer, it's got an extra use out of it. But just one. Also, since we've had a few different people ask about this: Your PMs with the GM do not count toward your PM-Post ratio. You can ask as many questions or post in there as much as you'd like and nothing will happen. If you're talking about non-game related things in your PMs, please change the font color to blue. Completely blue-text PMs that are truly non-game-related (if you say anything game-related in that PM, that should be in black) will not count toward your ratio. If you've got non-game-related PMs in black, they will count (the reason for this is because we're not going to go through and read every PM you send to every single person you're talking to when we're counting how many PMs you're sending. We're skimming through. If it's blue, we'll skip over it. If it's not, it counts). Please do not abuse the blue text by talking about game-related things in blue to avoid it counting toward your ratio. If someone is abusing it, we'll have to discontinue it for everyone and no one wants that. And another request: To make PMs easier for us when it comes to counting PMs and also to reduce the chances of messing up when someone spies on someone else's PMs, please start a new PM every turn. Do not roll PMs over to the next turn. Thank you!

    No. You can go negative, to counteract any inflations you may get, but if your end total is negative, it's just going to be 0. The University will not pay you. The Charisma of Kvothe was not one of the stats given out.

    Joe, we've come to a decision on the idea of making contracts only specific people can take. The answer is no. It's basically just a way to skirt the rule that money isn't transferable, and while it could make for some amusing situations, we don't want to add a loophole like that for people to exploit. The juggling of finances was meant to be an aspect of this game (and with so many ways to reduce tuition, it's absolutely possible to get your tuition to 0), and we'd like to maintain that.

    More Clarifications! Q. How does the rank system work? If I'm a Re'lar Linguist, and the Master Physicker elevates me, does that mean I'm an E'lir Physicker and a Re'lar Linguist? A. No. Your rank is your rank. What field you're studying in is simply that. So if the Master Physicker elevates you, that makes you an El'the studying Linguistics and Physicking. You cannot be different rank in different fields. You are that rank. You just haven't studied in those other fields. But that lack of studying doesn't diminish your rank. Q. How does the rank system work with the arcane fields and Insanity Points? A. You gain insanity points based on what rank you are. It doesn't matter how much you've studied in an arcane field. If you've studied in an arcane field at all, you get the insanity points for the ranks. So if the Master Alchemist elevates you to E'lir, the Master Archivist elevates you to Re'lar, and the Master Linguist elevates you to El'the, you have 3 Insanity Points, because you are an El'the, and you've studied an arcane field. You would also have 3 IP if you'd been elevated by the Master Alchemist, Artificer and Symphatist. Q. Is it possible to become a Master in a field I haven't studied in? If so, what happens? A. Yes. You gain access to all the abilities of that field, at the Master level. However, if that field has multiple action periods tied to that field, you can only use those abilities for those action periods, even if you know other abilities. The only way this would be different is if you were an El'the in a similar field that gains action periods. For example, if you'd been been elevated to El'the in only Arithmetics, you'd have 3 Arithmetic action periods. If you are then elevated to Master in Rhetoric & Logic, you have 4 Rhetoric & Logic action periods. This does not mean you have 7 action periods, however. You have 4 action periods. The first action period (the general action period anyone can use for items or services), you can use for anything. The second and third are for either Arithmetic or Rhetoric & Logic. The fourth is only for Rhetoric & Logic. Q. If I've been elevated multiple times in Linguistics and have multiple action periods and study in Alchemy, can I make multiple items? A. Yes. Action periods gained in Linguistics are not tied to Linguistics. Q. If a Skindancer Master destroys a field, can they study in another field and destroy it? A. Yes. However, it requires 15 EP to become the Master of a field. Even if you're already a Master, you cannot take over another field unless you have 15 EP in it. So if a Skindancer Master destroys a field, they have to acquire 15 EP in the other field to take it over and then they can destroy that as well.

    Voting, actions, and impressing Masters are the only ones you take each turn. Choosing locations are on Month 2, though you can also send in an order for that Month 1 of each term. Right now, the only things you can do are impress a Master. Also, if you'd like to go to Imre, you need to tell us the turn before you'd like to go there, because we send all the Imre information (items for sale an their cost as well as contracts available) at the start of the turn you go to Imre.

    All game-relevant posts and PMs count toward the thread-PM participation ratio. Also, one thing I want to note: In terms of "quality RP/thread participation" for the tuition reduction, that's referring to the size of the contribution. If you're going for either of those reductions, count on at least 3 decent-sized paragraphs (at least 3 lines each, though you can go less if you have more paragraphs) for either. A one paragraph RP will not count as "quality RP". Add a little more to it, and yes, it totally will. A great example of quality RP would be Kynedath's on the second page or, if you don't want to write that much, Wonko's or even Clanky's on the first page both also count.

    Yeah, that's correct. But the point still stands that you only get 5 jots maximum reduced from tuition regardless of how many complaints you file. So you still can't get a full talent reduction for filing 2 complaints. But if you get taken on the horns, you could potentially end up with a talent inflation just from complaints. Possibly. But only if you're really unliked.
