    He wants it. I talked to him about it because he said that maybe we don't need it now and I told him that of course we need the head because if we don't have the head, Alv will get the head and that's completely unacceptable! So trust me: he wants it. He's asleep right now, because it's absurdly early in the morning for him, but I'm his Goddess and he's my Grandmaster, and therefore I can speak for him on this matter.

    Lopen got your head, yes, but I'd been under the impression that he arranged to give the head to Orlok, who was then going to keep it safe from a certain someone who wants it for their golem (or something), because Orlok is my Grandmaster and a Real Wizard to boot, and he protects those who follow me as any Grandmaster should, especially when the person who needs protecting is the One True Herald, Haelbarde. (Yes, that's right, Alv. I said Hael's the One True Herald. Whatcha gonna do about it?)

    I'd guess that a very controlled use of Fire could cut right through a neck and leave the head disconnected so one could run off with it....just saying.

    Wrap-up: Finality, Skeletons and a Head A young man stood in a cemetery, amidst freshly made graves, and he was angry. First came the Wind, with a soft word. The sky darkened with storm clouds, darker and darker until nothing could be seen. Within moments, the city fell silent in fear, and Sev smiled. Next were the bones. Clearly and distinctly, Sev spoke, and they came. First, the oldest bones, along the edges and the back of the graveyard. Then those who’d died more recently, mothers and daughters and sons. Then the students. Kipper. Ashad, Delta. Marcos, Sasuke, Neo. Silverblade. Amari. The Mind of Akasha rose and took the form of a ghost among the skeletons. Sev sent most of the army out on the simple task of killing the mercenaries plaguing the streets of the town. But the murdered students stayed, staring at him with hunger for revenge. He gestured, and they formed up around him as he walked from the cemetery, an honor guard of the dead. He walked through the streets of Imre, through the dark and stormy night. Too dark. He wanted his target to know what was coming. So he summoned Fire. A vortex of flame sprang into existence around him, lighting the skeletons (and the faces of the few terrified townsfolk who poked their head out of windows) with a hellish red glow. He proceeded to the main square, where a pile was already being built from mercenary bodies and iron chains. A pyre fit for a fae. Passing on, he came to a particular dwelling. The lead skeleton kicked the door open. Inside, a Bodyguard started up from leaning against a wall. Before he could even speak, Sev’s dark servitors killed him as if they could still feel the anger of their own deaths. Perhaps they could. He continued inside, up the stairs, and into Haelbarde’s domain. An elaborate chair sat facing the other way. “I suppose you’ve come to kill me,” Sev heard. “Well, let it be so, then. Kill me with your fire, and put me out of my grief for my fellows. I’ve taken nahlrout to dull the pain.” Sev walked forward, confident that he could stop any traps that Haelbarde had set. “You killed people,” he said. Fire flashed bright in anger. “You killed my friends. You killed those I have brought with me today, and I want revenge!” He ordered the skeletons into a circle around the chair. “Any last words, fae?” Silence. Long silence. Surely he had some last words? Sev finally shrugged. “Then you shall die.” All of the skeletons crashed toward the chair, stabbing into the body as if they were truly avenging themselves. After a moment, Sev stopped them. His final death was not to be here. He lifted the headless body with Wind... Wait. Headless? Sev walked around to the front of the chair. Haelbarde’s body was most definitely headless, yet he’d been talking just moments ago. The chair had a deep line burned into it, just at Hael’s neck. Sev looked over at the Mind of Akasha. “Wait. Did someone just come and kill Haelbarde, and take his head, while I was talking?” The Mind shrugged. “I- Um. I suppose he still needs to be purged from the earth.” He gestured for the skeletons to form an honor guard around him, and walked out, Haelbarde’s headless body trailing behind him. I suppose I’ll have to pretend that I did that, Sev thought. He came to the main square, where the pyre of mercenaries was topped by three bodies surrounding an enormous iron stake. Touka. Pyra. Wilem. The skeletons lifted the body up to the stake and bound it there with iron chains, paying no heed to the burns that appeared on Haelbarde’s skin. When it was done, they stood back from the hideous work of art, and Sev stepped forward, putting out the fire vortex which had been writhing around him. The city stood in darkness for a single moment. Then he called upon Fire, and the sky answered. An enormous band of pure white lightning slashed through the darkness, striking the stake, and the pyre instantly burst alight. The lightning bolt remained at its center, a conduit between earth and sky, and Hael was incinerated. Sev watched the pyre burn for a time, until every mercenary was reduced to ashes, but for their bones. The Skindancers don’t even have that much to show that they’d ever existed. The lightning faded as the fire slowly died down. Sev gestured, and the bones of the mercenaries rose to join his army. As the sun showed its first light on the horizon, Sev marched out of Imre without looking back, followed by an army of thousands of invulnerable warriors. He laughed, high and clear and completely mad. Behind him, wind comes and scatters the clouds and the ashes that are all that remain of the Skindancers. In ages to come, legends whispered of him: the Necromancer. Haelbarde has died! He was a Skindancer who was Master of Rhetoric and Logic, and had studied in Arithmetic! Wonko went insane! Clanky was brought on the Horns, charged with Conduct Unbecoming, and expelled! That’s game! The Students have won!     VERY IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: I made a mistake over the last rollover, and I've spent the last about 15 hours talking to Hael and the other Skindancers to see what to do. If they wanted to continue forward or change things. Hael wants to run with what should've happened rather than continuing. What this means is that the results of last turn are a little different. Here are those results (I'll edit these into the writeup post): Amari (Araris Valerian) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming. He has been expelled. Varda Elentari (Elbereth) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming. She has also been expelled. Someone protected someone. I will be extending this turn by 24 hours to compensate for this change.

    Term 7: Month 1 - The Death of a Spirit Touka Kirishima tossed and turned in her dark room. She awoke with a start, trying to scream. But her throat was incapable of a scream now, since... She shuddered at the thought of the concoction she’d swallowed. Then she noticed that the door was open. Without any other thought but escape, she rushed toward it blindly, longing for a taste of the open sky... And, deep inside her, she longed for another host to regain her sanity. Then a knife plunged from the darkness beside the door into her heart. She died instantly, before she could even register the blow. The spirit of the Skindancer rose slowly out of Touka’s cooling corpse, regaining its balance after so long in an insane mind. Then, it coalesced into black smoke and floated towards the assassin. The assassin who exited the room before Touka could get to the door, and closed it behind him without a glance backward. The coil of black smoke bumped off of the door. A bit confused, it bumped off again. Finally, it flew at full speed towards the door in a whirling tornado of evil. And bumped off. Nooo! Why did this cell have to be built for Namers? It could already feel itself starting to dissipate without the presence of a host. Within hours, it would be gone. I have failed. I- I cannot- The spirit coalesced into a tiny point of blackness, drawing further and further in on itself. Then, with one last vengeful effort, it exploded, blasting a hole in the side of the Crockery. Amari was elevated. Touka Kirishima (DeathClutch19) was assassinated! He was a Skindancer who had studied in Alchemy! Someone protected someone. Amari (Araris Valerian) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming! He’s been expelled! Varda Elentari (Elbereth) was brought on the Honrs and charged with Conduct Unbecoming! She's been expelled! Once again, Elbereth is to thank for the quickness of this writeup.

    That's the turn and the term! I should have the results posted in a bit, but PMs will take a little longer, since I'm tackling this rollover by myself (which is fine).

    Yes, she did. I believe Kae was her inquisitor character, and Cleo was the other one. And I believe Kae was in LG11, so it's appropriate there's another Kae in this one, what with all the other reappearances. Can I request a link to the spec doc? I'd sign up for this game, but I want a small break between the end of LG18 and the next game I play.

    It gets dissolved as soon as it's placed. So they're only there to spread out the DP. On a similar note, PC Masters who placed DP on students who die or go insane are unsuccessful with the DP placement, because the DP is dissolved from the student in the same way the DP is dissolved from a Master. The DP from a PC Master is not re-allocated. NPC Masters, however, cannot vote for dead or insane students. If those students had complaints against them, they're basically cancelled out when figuring out who is going before the Masters.

    Term 6: Month 2 - When the Bonestorm Hits Pyra Ghetti was sitting beneath her tree as usual, drawing and humming. She absently fingered the silver panpipe pin she’d been given, smiling. Now that she didn’t have to worry so much about tuition, she had much more time for drawing, and she intended to take full advantage of that extra time. The branches of the tree above her rustled, dropping a leaf directly onto her page. She glared upwards for a moment, but decided a bit of wind wasn’t worth getting upset about. Then she looked back up at the tree. It was rustling quite loudly, and even the substantial trunk was swaying in the wind. This is weird. I’ve never heard of a windstorm in Autumn before. She tried to continue drawing, but the page wouldn’t stay down and the wind was drowning out her humming. Finally, she gave up and stood up, deciding she’d have to go inside just in case the wind got worse. Her piece of paper slipped from her grasp and flew away in the wind, skidding and bouncing on the ground. Pyra ran after it, hoping that the art wasn’t getting smudged. She’d been working on that piece for a week. No puny wind was going to snatch it from her grasp. She finally caught up to it on the bridge over the Omethi River, and managed to catch it with a wild grab. She wanted to examine it for damage, but she didn’t want to risk it slipping from her hands again. But before she could tuck it away safely, the paper was ripped from her hands by the wind. Not again! But instead of skidding along the ground again, the drawing soared directly into the air and practically hovered in one place, just out of reach. Then Pyra felt herself lifting into the air as well. She looked around in wonder and not a small amount of terror. She’d heard of tornadoes, but this didn’t look like that at all. She was enclosed in a wind so strong that when she tried to look down to see what she was standing on, her head met a very hard barrier of... air? She did manage to catch a slight glimpse, though, and there was nothing to see but a few leaves swirling around very quickly. Looking over the river, since it seemed that was her only option, she saw that everyone was gone. They’d presumably rushed inside when the giant windstorm had started. The windstorm that now had her hanging over a bridge in midair. And she couldn’t even try to possess another student and get out of this predicament, because they were all gone. Wait. There was someone there, still. In the shadow of the tree where she had been working was Sev, watching her. Somehow, his coat wasn’t even flapping in the wind, even though the tree was obviously still affected by the wind. She attempted to possess him, even though he was too far away, but failed as she’d expected. The wind prevented her from leaving her current host. I’m going to die by drowning? she thought. Or would it be by crashing into the bridge at high speed? Sev obviously had had enough with her and now just wanted her dead. At least falling’s not so bad. At least it’s quick. Then she heard a CRACK. No, she felt it. She looked down to see several holes in each boot near where her toes were, and a few little objects circling around them. What were those? She wanted to look closer, but the wind blocked her from bending down. Then her confusion was suddenly clarified when the front half of her foot practically exploded and a few more bones flew out. Ick! With a shudder, she turned off her nerves before she could start feeling the pain. Why couldn’t he have just drowned me? she thought in exasperation. It’s not like he’s unable to. Just throw me underwater and keep me from surfacing or whatever. This is demeaning. And gross. She waited impatiently for her death as her ankle bones became disconnected, then her lower legs, and so on. She noticed after a while, when she gathered the courage and strength of stomach to look down again, that her bones were literally stabbing the flesh they had emerged from. She didn’t look down again. Pyra waited with a growing sense of nervousness and futility, but also anger. How dare Sev do this to her? How dare he kill her in the absolutely most gruesome way possible? She stared at him, imagining him dying how she soon would. Then her rib bones emerged from her body, flying outward and then pointing directly towards her chest in a perfect, bloody circle. She let out a final scream, which was choked off as her jawbone decided to desert her. Seriously? Even Sev never knew whether she died of an exploding cranium or 24 ribs to the chest. - A day later, Sev stood before the nine Masters, heart thumping. “Pyra was a Skindancer!” he said. “She deserved to die!” The Master Physicker shook his head. “Did you not see her afterwards? She was a bloody husk. Her bones were scattered outside her body, and some of them were literally stabbing her. Poor girl.” “But she deserved it!” Sev said desperately. “She was evil!” “She was brutally murdered,” said the Master Alchemist. “By you. That crime cannot be absolved. I don’t care how evil she was, if we take your word that she had any counts against her at all. As I recall, she loved drawing in the sun. I’m eager to hear your explanation how that’s evil.” “This is not her trial, in any case,” said the Master Sympathist. “It doesn’t matter who you killed. The fact remains that you killed a fellow student in cold blood, and that cannot go unpunished.” The Master Namer, serious for once, spoke with finality. “You used the beautiful art of Naming for an evil purpose. We taught you these skills for the benefit of everyone, and you perverted that. You will be expelled. If I had the power to declare your life forfeit, I would. But unlike you, I am not a murderer.” Every other Master nodded. Sev looked at the row of formidable faces. “Surely one of you must understood! We have Skindancers in our midst, and you’re ignoring that to go after the person who actually helped!” The Master Namer raised his eyebrows. “Go. Before you’re sentenced to the Crockery instead.” Sev rushed out the door in anger. “If you won’t listen to me, I’ll just have to catch the Skindancers on my own!” No one was elevated. Pyra Ghetti was killed! She was a Skindancer studying in Linguistics! Someone used an item. Wonko was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming! He’s been expelled! He was a Skindancer who had studied in Archives! Someone used an item. Sev (Wonko the Sane) was brought on the Horns but the charges were dropped. Amari (Araris Valerian) was brought on the Horns and charged with Undignified Mischief. He needs to apologize. Pyra Ghetti (Burnt Spaghetti) was brought on the Horns and charged with Reckless Use of Sympathy.

    No. Votes on Masters will spread DP, but the DP will be dissolved so it doesn't matter. Votes on expelled students are no different that votes on people who went insane or died that same turn. Sort of like the turn when 4 people died because they were out on the streets, which resulted in only 4 people being taken before the Masters rather than the 8 that were expected.

    You can complain about expelled students, yes. But the complaint is useless because the Masters have no hold on them. They can't punish them, so the Horns has no effect for expelled students. EDIT: Also, Different kind of hammer.

    Could end; could keep going. What we'd do is do an insanity roll for everyone in the Crockery for the next 5 cycles. If the Skindancer doesn't break out in that time frame, the game would end and the students would win. If the skindancer does break out, we'd continue playing, though we obviously wouldn't indicate that the last Skindancer is insane. No. Nahlrout only protects from lashing roleblocks. It does not protect from Nahlrout roleblocks, Physicker roleblocks, or Naming roleblocks. Or any other roleblock I may be forgetting. Only lashings.

    Action 1 Who: Lord Elerek Wilson, in his capacity as House Lord What: Building a monument to the Lord Ruler, with a statue of the Lord Ruler standing upon the bodies of fallen skaa. Where: at the old skaa camp in the Terris Dominance Why: To memorialize the defeat of the rebellion in a way that will echo through the ages about what happens when people try to fight against the Final Empire. Resistance is futile. The Lord Ruler is God and you cannot kill God. To try is blasphemy of the highest sort.     Term 5: Month 2 - In the Eye of the Storm Wilhelm Mint was on the trail of the Amyr. Maybe he wasn’t the last of them after all. He’d picked up a lead during all his time in the Archives and had given up the idea that he actually cared about his studies at the University. He would find his people, if it was the last thing he did. He was lounging in his rooms at the Golden Pony when he received the summons to go before the Masters. He rolled his eyes and wondered what they could possibly want from him. He was a student in name only. But he sighed and soon after, he stood in front of them, on the Horns. They accused him of all sorts of things. The Master Physicker was adamant that Wilhelm had been sneaking into Medica and stealing things, but that claim was utterly preposterous. What need did Wilhelm have for medicines? He was an Amyr. He didn’t even bother trying to contain his lack of interest at the Master Physicker's words. He looked at his nails and pursed his lips. They were chipped and there was a lot of dirt underneath. His father would be ashamed. Well, the man who forced Wilhelm to call him father--for Wilhelm knew that that was a sham. Such a man couldn’t be the father to an Amyr. But he’d looked after Wilhelm for many years and therefore, he had affinity for the man. And he did rather like looking his best. He’d have to see about getting his nails worked on. Someone cleared their throat and Wilhelm looked up. All the Masters were silent, staring down at him. “Yes? Did I miss something in your blathering? Have you finally decided how ridiculous you all are?” They looked angry at that, and Wilhelm realized they must still think themselves very important. “I’ve changed my mind,” the Master Namer said. “Expulsion is too good for the little git. Fire would be much more appropriate. Burn him right out of existence.” Wilhelm cocked his head to the side. “Expulsion? You wish to expel me? I’ll save you the trouble. I’m withdrawing from this institution. I’m about to find my people anyway, so I have no more need of you. Good day.” He nodded his head and walked out of the room without a backwards glance. The Masters didn’t try to stop him, though they did send someone to follow him and make sure he left the University. As if he would stick around. Good riddance to them all. - “You can move back, you know,” Wilem said to the hulking figure towering next to him. “As long as you stay close, I’m sure everything will be fine. And anyway, you’re scaring off the lovely women here. You could at least be my wingman if you insist on standing this close.” Wilem was beginning to regret hiring this bodyguard. Useless thing, if it meant he couldn’t even fool around. He hadn’t had a sleepless night in weeks. Well, okay, he’d had sleepless nights, but not that kind of sleepless. It was shameful. If his friends found out….or worse, if other noblemen found out….he’d be the laughingstock of the University. He’d never live it down. A pretty girl with long, braided hair walked by. What Wilem wouldn’t do to let that braid out. She looked like she’d be a bit of fun, if she didn’t have her hair so tight. Wilem grinned at her, and she looked at him. Her step faltered and then her eyes darted to the bodyguard. And she hurried on. He scowled. He felt a stirring in the air as the wind picked up a bit around him. It felt good at first. It was a hot day, and a bit of a breeze helped cool things down. But then a sudden gust of air shot by him and hurled his bodyguard against a nearby building. Wilem shot to his feet and stared at the broken body of his bodyguard. He gasped and spun in a circle. What was that? he thought. And then it occurred to him. A Namer. His eyes widened and he tried to run out of the square, away from the fountain he’d been sitting on. He was nearly to one of the streets heading back toward the bridge when he fell to the ground in pain. Such pain. It felt like every bone in his body was breaking. Oh dear lord. Make it stop. He clutched his body and curled into himself, trying to rid himself of the pain. And then he blacked out. When he finally came to again, the pain was gone. In fact, he couldn’t feel a thing. He felt high. It was nice. He could get used to this. He glanced around him, but there was only white walls and white sheets. Everywhere was white, and for a moment, he thought he’d died and this was the afterlife. But no, that couldn’t be. His afterlife would contain women. Lots of women. Women everywhere. All kinds of women, for Wilem needed a variety to not get bored. But this wasn’t variety. This was just white. He hated white. He also hated rooms without women. He went to swing out of the bed, and then all of sudden, that high feeling retreated and the pain was back. Oh boy was it back. He fell back into the bed, squeezing his eyes tight. He heard a door open and hurried footsteps. “What are you doing? You shouldn’t be getting up! You’ve been horribly injured!” Wilem didn’t care about horrible injuries and not getting up. That was a female voice. It was like the gods had heard his plea and taken pity on him. He opened his eyes and when he saw her, he almost stopped breathing. She was gorgeous. He’d thought Varda had been pretty, but Varda was nothing compared to this creature. Wilem decided then and there that he’d stay in that bed for however long she told him. And he’d try his darnedest to get her into it too. Oh, yes he would. These people were elevated: Pyra Ghetti and Wilhelm Mint Wilhelm Mint (irulelikeSTINK) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming. He’s been expelled! Reader (The Only Joe) was brought on the Horns and charged with Conduct Unbecoming. He has also been expelled! Wilem (Maiiliw73) was attacked. He is recovering in Medica. One thing I forgot to mention in the writeup: someone used an item.

    It doesn't actually work like that. I can't remember if I told someone that you'd be instantly elevated two ranks, but if I did, I'm sorry, because that's not the case. You can only be elevated one rank per turn. No more than that. Even if you have the EP to jump from Re'lar to Master, you can't. All elevations are public and known. If I were allowing the jumping from Re'lar to Master, I should've been allowing people to be elevated more than once if multiple Masters chose them (which had happened *many* times so far), but since that's not an option, I don't think it would be right to let people skip straight to Master. The public elevations are meant to track players' ranks.

    To be noted: Orlok will be doing this rollover by himself. I could've done it by myself last night, but I needed a break since I've been working on this game almost non-stop when I'm not at work, so Orlok told me to take the night off and he could tackle it today. I'm currently at work, and therefore cannot help in any sort of consistent way, which is why the rollover is extended. I may have a bit of time after work to pitch in, but only an hour or two since I have things going on tonight. Still, the next turn will still be 48 hours, so you're not missing out on anything.

    Due to technical issues, we're going to have to bump the rollover back about 16 hours, to end at 9:30am MDT tomorrow (so 3:30pm GMT). The next rollover after that will be back to the usual 5:30pm, but on Friday instead of Thursday. Hopefully with the extra time, I'll be able to finish the writeups that still haven't been done. I apologize for that. When rollovers take 4-6 hours to sort out the information and send all the PMs, occasionally I just don't really feel like spending another hour or two on top of that writing, particularly if nothing is coming to mind.     During the time you were on hiatus, there were some issues with the old-guard players using blue text like this and we stated that blue text is specifically for out of game discussion. That's what it says in the rules as well. Black text is for anything game-related. So yeah, it should all be in black.
