It is not Szeth. Also, I am glad you liked, it was in the back of my head for quite a long time. Also, what is the connection between the oathstone and wine for drowning one's sorrows?

I hold four things in my hands, bloodstained. The first is the light, that fills all with fear, For strenght and hate bring death, if untamed. The second is blacker than the night, It marks the bond and pact, out of sight. The third is the clean blade, the tool of the trade, By wich my hands, bloodstained, their mark they made The fourth is the lie, the sorrow, the price, The flowing emptyness that follows the dark. For all is lost, yet four things remain, the light, the pact, the blade, the wine. In my bloodstained hands, in mourning, in vice.

Spoilers: Cosmere Power Rankings
DreamEternal replied to KamorianKandra's topic in General Brandon Discussion
The God King of Halladren should go somewhere close to TLR, and so should nightblood. And Hoid should be highter than that -

Almighty preserve us, if it does turn out to be Lift or Lopen or in any way focused on humor, I think I will have to pass. Sorry, I have nothing against these characters or Brandon's brand of humor, but for me it is not his stong point, and it is better in moderation.

I wonder if an Atium spike counts as an splinter, since it is a fragment of power from a shard that broke of, but it is not "alive" in the way a spren is and it is mostly physical. I said spike because that would be the most obvious way to "bond" with a God Metal.

Redin, the half-eye bastard of Highprince Valam, ordered by his own father to kill him, lost in a land destroyed by the greatest war of its time, a war that pales before the terrible destruction that will follow. May Honor aid him in his journey.

Knights Radiant cosplays and our Order colors...
DreamEternal replied to siffy's topic in Stormlight Archive
Yes but he has white cristals growing from him. Althought, if we assume spren apparences are related to the orders gemstone, something I find unlikely, so how we deal with Ym's spren, wich looked like growing plants made of golden light? -
Rust and Ruins, I should start reading Brandon's non cosmere stuff

After a quicky re-read of the WoK prologue I've come up with a new headcannon for why the parshendi killed Gavilar, how Venli discovered stormform and why Gavilar told the parshendi his plans. My idea is tha before telling the parshendi his plans, Gavilar was already doing research and experiments on how to bring the final desolation, perhaps because doing so he could force Odium to choose a champion and defeat him. Venli was Gavilar's contact with the parshendi, and he somehow managed to make her temporaly take a form of power, perhaps using the dark sphere to summon a voidspren. What he didn't know was that Venli liked being a voidbringer, and started manipulating him. So when he told the parshendi his plans he thought Venli had explained them he expected to summon Odium and defeat him, but Venli told them to just listen to him and pretend to agree, without asking questions, them kill him. The council, afraid of the return of their gods, agreed to kill him. When Szeth killed him, he sounded surprised that the parshendi sent him, and, probably guessing Venli's objectives, gave Szeth the black sphere, a portal to Braize, so Venli couldn't just call the Everstorm and Odium on her own. EDIT: Storms and ashes, that was long. And unreadable as hell. Well, that proves being able to read Stormlight Archive in a foreign language does not make you able to theorize in that language. Edit2: Sorry for weird typos, tipping on mobile device.

Nin is more about law than morality, so I think he would rank it all under "killing a criminal without proper documentation". Plus, he doens't kill people because they are breaking the law, he just kills however he wants as long as the law allows it.

Since parshendi, as well as many of Roshar native lifeforms, need to bond to spren, I would assume their spiritwebs already come with a spren shaped hole.

How about going back to simplier things, like pure Adhesion? Perhaps it could be used to lower air resistence, hold a crumbling object together, or to explode things in an inverse full lashing of expanding air.

[Theory/speculation] 'Main' Characters + Knight's Radiant
DreamEternal replied to JellyFishxD's topic in Stormlight Archive
We should start a new thread about possible advanced uses for surges and return this thread to whatever it was supposed to be about, shouldn't we? -
[Theory/speculation] 'Main' Characters + Knight's Radiant
DreamEternal replied to JellyFishxD's topic in Stormlight Archive
While I know you are joking about the teacher in the mountains, I believe there are advanced "lashings", like perhaps using Adhesion to lower air resistence while flying, or suddenly changing air pressure to create an explosion of expanding air in a reverse full lashing? -
Cosmere Nightmares
DreamEternal replied to High prince of geeks's topic in General Brandon Discussion
It would only work if the Knight Radiant had broken his oaths. Plus, maybe lifeless can't bond Shardblades, since the bond happens at the level of the soul/spiritweb, and maybe a breath does not count as enough of a soul to work. -
Cymatics (spoilers, maybe, I don't know.)
DreamEternal replied to Turos's topic in Stormlight Archive
So the listener songs are lying, the everstorm is not something new, and it dissipated before being able to go around the world and colide with the highstorm somewhere else? Seems too overcomplicated and confusing, even for Sanderson. -

Cymatics (spoilers, maybe, I don't know.)
DreamEternal replied to Turos's topic in Stormlight Archive
There is a parshendi song that says it is possible to blend the surges of Men to theirs, and it has happened before. This points towards the theory that the parshendi bonded with surgespren in the past, perhaps because of a pact with Honor and Cultivation that they would gain powers so long as they helped humans adapt to Roshar, becoming the dawnsingers. Sadly, after humanity was ready, and the dawncities built, the surgespren started to bond humans, and left the parshendi with their old forms. Them Odium came. As additional, very doubtful and circunstantial evidence, there is the fact that both dawnsingers and voidbringers are believed to be some sort of spren by most of the rosharan populacy. -
In general I believe the following rule may make the first oath easier to understand: Killing may be right, if it follows the idea of "Journey before destination" and is the only alternative, or if highter level oaths demand it. Not killing never breaks the first oath, but may break the others depending on their nature.

Shallan can attach illusions to pattern. I assume that if Lightweavers had squires they could do the same to them. -
shardblade Changed Scene at the end of Words of Radiance
DreamEternal replied to Odium's_Shard's topic in Stormlight Archive
That, it doens't make much sense since Syl did kill Szeth in the original edition, wich was changed for characterization issues, not worldbuilding. Unless you believe, like I theorized before Peter gave us a hint, that being killed and ressurected restored Szeths sanity. Also, nowhere it says it is Kaladins blade what is doing the healing, or Szeth is the one who has his soul healed. All in all, I believe that a living spren heals his radiant soul, or at least holds it together, while an honorblade just breaks it further. Perhaps a regular dead sprenblade also breaks its wielder's soul?
