The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
First Draft Wording is never well written. How would you rephrase my sentence? Did they? It didn't look that way to me in the prelude. They seemed beaten down, tired of the pain and wanted to give up, but I didn't see insane in what they did. -
If a metal is Allomantically Inert, it doesn't work in the Metallic Arts at all. That includes Feruchemy, but maybe not Hemalurgy since it's a bit more loose with restrictions.

The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
I have several actually. So far, one per Shardworld. So far: 9 Lists comprising 137 total Questions You can't possibly think I came up with the 43 question Nalthis Questionnaire on the spot it was all written down prior to the post. But I will still put the questions here, so that people can see them to ask during Q&A's or tell me there's already an answer. -
The Ultimate List of Questions for Brandon
The One Who Connects replied to Chaos's topic in Cosmere Discussion
Could the creation of the Knights Radiant count as Jezrien's "squires" via Windrunner Resonance? Are the Heraldic Insanities related to/caused by them abandoning the Oathpact or is it a side effect of their connection with Honor that affected them after he died? I'm grasping at straws here, but stuff pops into my head and I write it down here eventually. -
@Beatsmorn The Heralds are insane, and Nalan's brand of insanity involves following the letter of the law. Is it a coincidence, probably not. But that is the source of his law restriction, not a Spren bond. We actually do know for a fact that Honorblades allow Resonances. Brandon has said so, along with the fact that Jezrien basically got cheated by that, as Heralds don't get Squires. Surgebinding as the KR magic system was created unintentionally. Honor made the Honorblades and that was all he did with intent. The Spren copied the Honorblades somehow and created the Radiants. Again, edit previous post and add to it. Do not double post. Regarding said second post: The Ideals appear to be directly related to the Divine Attributes. Kaladin's first two are all about Protection, and his last two are more than likely about Leading. You have to act in a way that emulates those Attributes to attract the Spren, and evolve your understanding of what those attributes mean to "learn" the next Ideal. As stated, Honorblades will give you the Resonance. Any mixing of multiple powers will give you some Resonance until you have too many powers. Hypothetically, I could even spike in both Stoneward Surges and gain their Resonance. The Oathpact gave them their "pseudo-immortality" and the ability to directly access some of Honor's Investiture gave them great power. I actually don't think it was their breaking of the pact that drove them insane anymore. I think it was a side effect of their direct connection with Honor. Honor died, and they felt or were affected by it in some way. This one is my opinion, so take it as you wish

Per Brandon, you could do "interesting things" with Double Copper. That's all he has said on the subject. If you look around in the Mistborn/Cosmere Theories subforums, you'll find all manner of ideas we've had about what you could do.

The Metal that Shardblades are made out of was theorized to be a God Metal of sorts. All the Shards should be able to make their own God Metal, but whether or not they are Allomantically Viable is up for debate.

(Spoilers) How do Mistborn Shard phases work again?
The One Who Connects replied to Ward's question in Cosmere Q&A
Regarding your former questions I assume? Harmony uses both Ruin and Preservation's Mist. Harmony has his own God Metal, and it is currently unknown if he can produce Atium/Lerasium on their own. There isn't a "phase change process" as far as we know. The raw power is able to manifest in either state. Harmonium should recycle Investiture back to him just like Atium and Allomancy do. As Yata said, solid/liquid/gas do not correspond to the 3 Realms. Investiture is a universal thing in the Spiritual Realm, unsure in the Cognitive, and states of matter in the Physical Realm. Harmony inherited metal blindness from his predecessors. -
Well, that means that Civ games used a slightly incorrect term, as the map becomes a globe when you zoom out. That's why I said "like a globe" to begin with. But if you think the idea can still work, more power to you.

Harmony (Sazed) and involvement on Roshar
The One Who Connects replied to KnightofLight's question in Cosmere Q&A
Sazed is too occupied with events on his own world. (The Red Haze) These books take place almost concurrently with Stormlight 1-5. Brandon has said that there are forces actively trying to suppress Harmony's knowledge. Even if he was interested in snooping around Roshar, it might not get him anywhere. Brandon also wants to keep Stormlight Archive very self-contained, without too much Cosmere crossover(which he is saving for Mistborn Era 4 and Space) All that said, it's still possible for your idea to happen. As far as I know, we don't have something that directly denies it. The timeline is the biggest point against it, depending on how long it takes for "Trell" to be dealt with. -

I've had the Shin society started at/near the Circle of Blades idea for a while, but it only explains why they have the blades, nothing more. Now onto the other things that you've come up with: You make a good point that they could consider their Quasi-Godlike Figures saying "the war is over, we won" as validation for their dedication to peace and disdain for soldiers. (Nobody else has tried to explain that aspect of society before IIRC, so nice job) I, like Caevita, am hesitant on the logic for why they worship Stone. As Szeth notes in one of his Interludes: "how can they not, when all the land is stone?" I'm not sure there was much of anything else for the Heralds to thrust their blades into. I do agree that the Heralds are still Godlike figures to the Shin, while the Stones are not. All in all, great post. Hope it goes well. Not technically true. To take up a weapon is to be shunned and become a warrior. Some sort of fundamental betrayal is what got Szeth cast out. Szeth mentions to Nalan that he "would face enemies with Shards, and with power." upon his return to Shinovar. People who have the blades, and know how to use the powers they grant. This implies two things: People are allowed to use the Honorblades without being immediately thrown out. Likely only the priests. And probably only to learn, not to harm. Szeth is aware of this fact, which either means it is common knowledge to the Shin as a whole or he was in a part of the society that did know about it.
-
Szeth was sold to Vstim by Thresh-son-Esan, more than likely while in Shinovar, as the rest of the Shin wouldn't leave their lands. The timing of his Urithiru visit is made all the more curious by this fact. Although, if he had practice with his lashings beforehand.. hrrm. Also side note: They do not have Nalan or Taln's Honorblades, so yes they have both blades with the Transportation Surge.

Felt the Worldhopper is a big suspect for that involvement now that we know "people in Venture" might've been involved.

Newly spiked Kandra have to be fed eyes and other parts to learn how to replicate them. But both Mistwraith's and Kandra have to use the donor's bones as support. This makes me think that they are unable to create bone, similar to their issue with hair. What would a Mistwraith baby actually be like? The only known ones to be created already had bones of their own. (TLR's Ascension, the Kandra Resolution)

The Stormfather, Everstorm, and the Unmade.
The One Who Connects replied to Radiant_Jaeger's topic in Stormlight Archive
Re-Shephir, Sja-Anat and Dai-Gonarthis have not yet been confirmed to be Unmade. It's assumed, but until there is a confirmation it's best to be wary. I also believe Syl's relation to the Stormfather is a special case due to the circumstances surrounding Tanavast's Cognitive Shadow.- 3 replies

I believe Brandon has said that Kandra are incapable of reproduction other than spiking more Mistwraiths. If you mean using their own DNA for a sperm cell, I don't know for sure what that would do.

Parshendi Shard Bearers
The One Who Connects replied to Paladin Brewer's topic in Stormlight Archive
You make a valid point. Is Eshonai's Shardblade ever described as having a gemstone on the hilt? -
The Stormfather, Everstorm, and the Unmade.
The One Who Connects replied to Radiant_Jaeger's topic in Stormlight Archive
Well, the Unmade are Splinters of Odium. I have no idea if they have opposites, but they are entirely of Odium due to their Splinter status. Foretelling the future is "of the Voidbringers" because the Sunmaker said so. It was more than likely not looked at in that way prior to the Heirocracy. I do not have a source on when the Unmade were.. made. It could have been around Hierocracy times, but I personally feel like it should have been earlier. I feel like Odium should've already had a Godspren by being in the Roshar system, perhaps it was trapped on Braize until the Parshendi summoned the Everstorm..? Also: Ah, so that is where you got the Everstorm/Stormfather opposites idea. Must've missed that line when I last read the book.- 3 replies

Are there really 16 Surges?
The One Who Connects replied to Cosmere Savant's topic in Stormlight Archive
We know that the Unmade are Splinters of Odium, while the Stormfather existed as "The Rider of Storms" prior to the arrival of the Shards(I believe). I don't think they are functionally equivalent entities.- 37 replies

Can't delay it entirely, but it should affect them slower. They would begin to be affected from the start, and even walking in a different gravity would start your body on the path to adapting to it. But then you would go back to your gravity and start re-adapting to what you are used to, and then vice versa. I'm no expert, but it's a similar concept to how runners function after training in higher altitudes. (Since that is something you can look up without too much trouble)

Are there really 16 Surges?
The One Who Connects replied to Cosmere Savant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Brandon has said something akin to "the Nightwatcher is to Cultivation what the Stormfather is to Honor." That should preclude the possibility of her being of two Shards.- 37 replies

Are there really 16 Surges?
The One Who Connects replied to Cosmere Savant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Is the Everstorm the Stormfather's opposite, or the opposite of a Highstorm? The post prior to mine essentially did equate Windspren with the Highstorm, only on the Voidish side. The Stormfather can accelerate the coming of a Highstorm. This does not mean that he is the Highstorm. I can see a Highstorm having Spren, but I don't see a Spren having the power to physically manifest as something the size of the Storms. Side Note: Your post is the first I've seen equating the Stormfather and the Everstorm. Actually, it's the first time I have ever seen anything considering the Storms as Entities. i'm curious if there is a source on these statements, as it would be rather illuminating on the whole issue.- 37 replies

Are there really 16 Surges?
The One Who Connects replied to Cosmere Savant's topic in Stormlight Archive
Moelach(Death Rattles) and Nergaoul(The Thrill) are Unmade, which we know for a fact there are not 10 of. Everstorm Spren(Voidspren) are much more like an equivalent to Radiant Spren, and they cannot be considered a Voidish GodSpren because they are not a singular figure like the Stormfather.- 37 replies
