I don't want to interrupt this introduction, but I must share what happened today because it's too weird to keep to myself.

"No. Now shut up or I'll roast you alive." So said Scorch "Stop Calling Me 'Butt Monkey Boy.'" His most probable move is to hit the ground. His powers aren't strong enough to melt the bullet, which is a good thing, because if they were he wouldn't have the foresight to know that melting a bullet in a rubber bouncy castle will take a good portion of the bouncy castle with you. So that'll be another hole torn in the wall—probably not enough to collapse the castle entirely, but enough to make it sag a bit. Has anyone mentioned the money yet, besides CM?

*gasp* Don't….post….anything. Just savor this moment. I don't know. If he's aiming to level lightning or fire, it probably wouldn't work, but it seems like if he's just aiming to level whatever power they're using, it would do the trick. It's tricky, but it seems like intent is the thing here. Was that CM's intent when Electro tried to Scramble him? Just level the main power without quite knowing what it was, or did he know what was going on there?
-
Then if he doesn't have to know which power he's leveling, I'd say it would halt the illusions.

Strange and Surprising Crossovers
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in General Discussion
Mistborn and Monsters vs. Aliens also combine rather well. "Eat lead, Allomancer scum!" [shoots gun] [chewing and swallowing noise from offscreen] "Huh. Evidently, they eat lead." (I know lead isn't an Allomantic metal, but I couldn't pass up the joke.) -

Scorch watched as Voidgaze quite literally withered beneath CorpseMaker's stare. She crumpled to the floor and lay still. He felt no horror, no revulsion—he barely felt fear. Instead, he was impressed. Heh. CorpseMaker. I get it now. He had never been one to bow and scrape, and Altermind's kneeling was a bit over-the-top for his taste. He gave CorpseMaker a respectful nod. "Count me in." -
Depends. Is he trying to level his main power without knowing what it is, or is he aiming for fire or something else gathered from the illusion? How much does knowledge affect his power? And what's the range?
-
I'll post something for Scorch later today. Is it looking like it'll become a fight scene, or more like a bow-to-the-bigger-fish scene? It's starting to look like the latter to me.

After the bank scene, I vote we take a day or two (RPG time, we can coordinate) to give the characters time to get their bearings and finalize alliances, such as they are. What say you?

What doesn't?

I was watching one of my favorite movies the other day, one of my favorite books fresh in my mind, when it hit me. The two combine surprisingly well. Almost scarily well. I almost didn't share this with you. The glory may perhaps be too much for mortal vision. A Raiders of the Lost Ark-style ending may very well happen at the end of this post. But I must share. I am referring, of course, to Mean Girls and Steelheart. Observe. Heed the spoiler tags, if you haven't read and want to. TwiLyghtSansSparkles claims no legal responsibility for any melting faces. Any other crossovers that probably shouldn't happen but could?

At the very least, it seems to have been effective at only attracting the "right" sort of Epic to Newcago. We don't meet very many of them in the book, but the implication seems to be that most, if not all, Newcago Epics are willing to sacrifice at least a little power for stability. Nightweilder probably could have ruled a city on his own, but he chose to work for Steelheart instead. It's the same case with Fortuity. Both were probably powerful enough to make it on their own, but they seem to have the kind of personality that's at least somewhat practical—they'd rather be guaranteed power without the prestige of being in charge than try to be the top dog and risk being toppled. Then again, killing a rival whose whole power was that he killed people just by pointing at them probably went a long way toward establishing Steelheart as the big cheese, too.

As an aspiring librarian, I am expected to condemn such vile allegations of evilness. I should say that those are nothing more than vicious propaganda, and even if they weren't, you ought to accept the iron-fisted rule of librarians with a glad heart, for we are the only ones shielding you from ignorance. Evil is a moot point. But I know those accusations are true most of the time. So I won't. Instead, I will fight against the innate evil of the library profession, fight my baser librarian nature, and use my powers for the good of the common man. What am I saying? I'm saying that librarians are exactly like Epics in every way. Don't cross a librarian. So she killed Disco and stole its life force? Wow, that is evil.
-
The number of books people on this site tell me I have to read far outnumbers the books on my required reading list for school. I'm thinking about changing my last-semester internship to a thesis and writing it on the works of Brandon Sanderson. How does that connect to public librarianship? I have no idea. So….does Discokiller kill with Disco, or did she kill Disco?

No hate here. Read it. You will not be disappointed.

Yes. It's still there, though I left how far away they teleported open-ended. I'll go clear that up. :/

What Happened in Portland

"I….uh…." Nathan looked around the bouncy castle, trying to get his bearings. He couldn't summarize what was happening, let alone explain it. No one had listened to him, and he was growing close to panic. And then CorpseMaker roared. It took every ounce of self-control Nathan possessed to not cover his ears. "Anyone still in here in one minute better be swearing their allegiance to me, or a Corpse." Time to fake bravado. Nathan cleared his throat. "And why should we?" He grinned. He had a terrifying grin. "I own this Bank. Every dollar here is mine, And I can't be killed. so choose your side. 30 seconds people." "Allegiance?" Doctor Funtimes was on the floor now, having teleported out of the bouncing man's arms. Her hair stuck out every which way, scattering bits of glitter as she pranced over to him. She stood on tiptoe, cupped her hands around her mouth, and said at normal volume: "I think we should be friends." She giggled. A second later, her hand was around Nathan's, and they were gone from the bouncy castle. -
Posted for Mailliw. So, Edgedancer, we're going to need VG to show her powers soon so AM can ally with her.

Posted by proxy for Mailliw. Electro liked the sound of Corpsemaker. He would be a powerful ally. "How much can you pay me?" Electro asked boldly. He wouldn't be afraid to sever the Death Epic's neck from his spine. But all of a sudden, he felt that he couldn't Scramble anyone anymore. He had no idea what has happened. He could still feel his Electric Field surrounding him so it wasn't his weakness canceling out his powers. Confused, he just waited for an answer from Corpsemaker. He couldn't be killed? Doubtful. Every Epic could be. The ones that forgot that were the ones that got killed. ------------------------------------- Altermind didn't like being ordered around. Putting up a hallucination of a force field around his standard illusion, he waited for Corpsemaker. -

Posted by proxy for Mailliw. Electro had been trying to blend into the background since the bouncy castle had exploded into a flurry of action. He had come to scope out a new Epic, not be transformed or burned. Most of these Epics seemed to have alliances of some sort and he had no idea if any of them could pay him. He had planned to negotiate and talk about that, but then the fire Epic had shown up and decided to freak out. Now the bouncy Epic was flying around the castle with the insane lady and a regular. Electro wanted to stop the bouncy one so he wasn't smashed. The next time he passed near Electro, he Scrambled him. The man had been heading for a window, but now couldn't remember why. Electro loved Scrambling people. --–—------------–------------—--------- Altermind wanted to stop this madness. He had no idea what was going on, and he didn't like it. Wanting to get people's attention, but not revealing his powers to these new Epics, Altermind created a hallucination of a flare shooting from his body and exploding in the center of the castle. He boomed, using an auditory hallucination to increase the sound of his voice in the others' ears, "Everyone, shut the rust up!" -
Usually I'll read, maybe while listening to a song that describes how I'm feeling. I'll sit and stew alone until I feel like I can face the world again. Maybe I'll leave the house and go where no one will bother me (I once drove to the nearest McDonalds and used their wifi to watch an episode of Doctor Who). I'll do whatever it takes.

I'm done adding. And you're welcome.

Don't tell that to the Harry Potter fandom.

What Happened in Portland
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Reckoners RPG
The bouncy castle was now in chaos. CorpseMaker was on the floor. Scorch—the fire Epic, if the latest addition to their party was to be believed—was trying to explain himself: "She's a nut and he's worse! Look what she did to me! Look!" Before Nathan could argue, a woman in white politely introduced herself as Voidgaze, or Rita Blue. He hadn't time to register his shock before Funtimes bounced over and wrapped her arms around her neck. "You're neat," she said, smiling up into her eyes. "Like a blueberry." Like a—? Nathan's fear rose. Insulting an Epic named CorpseMaker was bad enough, threatening a fire Epic with a bad temper was worse, but if Funtimes alienated the only Epic in Portland sane enough to remember her old name, he'd be dead before dawn. Running was not an option. Epics didn't run—but no one said they couldn't show a little common sense, either. Taking a deep breath, he shouted at the top of his lungs. "EVERYBODY QUIET!"
