He definitely has the most powerful Epics, that's for sure—except for Funtimes, but…well, she had an entire BANK, and she turned it into a bouncy castle. Not an arsenal. Not an Army Surplus store. Not even a fort. A bouncy castle. Not that she won't be a threat, but she will be a very weird one. A threat that offers you cupcakes. It's going to be a good fight, is what I'm saying.

It is. And unless something changes with the other alliances, it looks like CorpseMaker is set to become another Steelheart. Which could be interesting, if the other alliances decide to overthrow him. It would lead to more collateral damage, that's for sure.

Looks good. And companions are fine.

What Happened in Portland

Funtimes'. She will give you pancakes. And her name is Doctor FUNtimes, so everyone who is against her is automatically anti-fun. It's true. Ask anyone you like. Mahaha! Er—uh—actually—yes. I will keep them in character. -
All right, here's a summary of characters, powers, and events. (All of these are the short-and-sweet version; I left out a lot of details for the sake of brevity.) Doctor Funtimes: Matter manipulation and teleportation. Completely bonkers. Scorch: Control over fire and immunity to heat. Formerly worked for Altermind but recently defected. Kind of a moron. Altermind: Telepathic illusions and telekinesis. Rules an area of Portland called Thoughttown. Electro: Control over electricity; can use it to temporarily disable opponents. Merc for hire. Joe/Sightline: Short-range teleportation and perfect vision (can even see through blindfolds). Never wanted to be an Epic and makes a name hunting the worst of them in Oregon. CorpseMaker: Can kill on sight, prime invincibility, negate powers. Not a nice person. Nighthound: Super strength, healing. Can "gift" to humans and gain temporary control over them. Super creepy. Voidgaze: Can destroy anything white and all adjacent objects in her line of sight. Can also resurrect. Loner, seems nice enough. Kathy/Flamethrower: Control over fire. Doesn't seem to have much interest in turf wars. Ricochet: Can bounce and control fire. Something of a merc. Human characters: Nathan: Escaped Newcago with the help of Doctor Funtimes. Mistaken for an Epic by CorpseMaker; going by The Traveller. Gordon: Investigating the aftermath of Nighthound's introductory rampage. Tentative alliance with SightLine. Max and Mel: Thieves, currently unaligned. Travis: Broke into Thoughttown and captured by Altermind. (I think that's everyone. Tell me if I missed someone.) Plot thus far: Everyone wound up in Portland, Oregon. At the beginning of the RP, Joe trapped CorpseMaker in the wall of his own bank. Funtimes, looking for a fun time, turned the bank into a bouncy castle and cut him out of the wall. Altermind, Electro, Voidgaze and Ricochet all wound up at the bank. After a short fight, sides were chosen. Alliances so far: Funtimes, Nathan, Ricochet Altermind, Voidgaze SightLine, Gordon, Kathy, Travis (eventually, and will likely join Altermind and Voidgaze) CorpseMaker, Electro, Scorch, Nighthound (eventually) The bouncy castle, having been shot and scorched, is on its way down, so everyone has gone their separate ways—Altermind and Voidgaze back to Thoughttown, Nathan and Funtimes some distance away (currently unspecified) and CorpseMaker, Scorch, and Electro out of the bank. Others will solidify, but that's what's written into the RP so far. The end goal is Oregon being destroyed by the turf wars, so any destructive Epics you want to write are welcome. (Did I miss anything? I think I did, so tell me so I can correct it.)

I'll post it in the Question thread. -
I'm liking the Deathpoint option more and more.
-
Deathpoint wasn't trying to take over the city at all. He was just trying to kill some guy lucky enough to have Comic Con tickets so he could steal his identity. Fantastic drawing, by the way.
-
I thought I was managing my Steelheart withdrawals pretty well. And then Facebook told me Random House will be passing out the prologue and first three chapters of Firefight at San Diego Comic Con this year. Never have I hated the city of San Diego so much.

Also in Newcago:
-
Yes, but there aren't a lot of funny images from that scene. Mu shu riding a panda up a tree? Hilarious.
-
Mulan.

For some reason I thought of this scene:
-
Well, since said traitor is also letting us use his Netflix account, it's the least we can do. ....what do you mean, you didn't know about that?
-
Thank you for your explanation, Lord Coppercloud. As to divine providence, I quite agree.

12) Pay my respects to our Lord Ruler

Ah, thanks, Edgedancer. I will edit.

I...don't know. I'm leaning toward CM having to negate one at a time, but I can't say whether those are separate abilities or different components of the same ability. Since he can't make people taste anything, it sounds like each sense is a different minor ability, combining into one super ability.
-
Well, are different sorts of illusions different illusions altogether (is the smell of baking bread separate from the sight of it) or are they used concurrently? Put another way, are his illusions like YouTube videos, where the sound and picture are recorded and seen together, or like old school films, where the sound and picture are on different tracks and have to be synched?
-
I would think that if CM is aiming to level another Epic's main power, it would level it. If he was aiming to level what he thought was their main power, if he thought wrong, it wouldn't work. So if he aimed for AM's main power, he wouldn't be able to cast illusions for a while, but if he aimed for fire or wind or earth or whatever he thought was AM's power based on the illusions he was casting, it wouldn't work. Does that look right, Joe?

Which one? About VG?

Derpy spent too much time on this forum without getting caught up on her reading list. So what is a Chromium Compounder, anyway?

What Happened in Portland

Upvoted for the Sky High reference. Also, I am fully embracing Scorch's role as the butt monkey. And leaving it open for you, Leftinch—if you want to make it so Funtimes took Ricochet out of there too, just write it in. "Kilever?" Scorch remembered, with a pang in his side, the one and only time he and Flashpoint had attacked the Armory. Just for kicks and giggles, he had said, but the Commander had not evidently been fond of either. It had taken weeks for his ribs to heal, though the Commander and Jetstream had repaired the wall in less than an hour. Then again, they hadn't had CorpseMaker. "Sure," Scorch said with a grin. "Kilever it is." ------------------------------------------------------- CorpseMaker had an alliance. An Epic who made corpses had an alliance. Nathan tried to stay calm. He tried to appear nonplussed, unbothered by the fact that one of the most terrifying Epics he had met, second only to Fortuity, had a small army at his disposal. Calamity, this was Annexation Day all over again. "We have to stop CorpseMaker," he told Doctor Funtimes. "Or there won't be any of this city left for us." "Who's that?" "CorpseMaker." Nathan forced himself to speak calmly. Perhaps part of her insanity involved short-term memory loss. "That Epic you cut out of the wall." "Who's CorpseMaker?" She was grinning, twirling a ribbon from her sweater through the air. Nathan sighed. "Jeffrey?" Funtimes nodded as though she were a teacher and he was a student who had finally mastered his multiplication tables. "Jeffrey. Yes. HIs name is Jeffrey." "We have to stop…Jeffrey." The name didn't match him in the slightest. Nathan found himself smiling at the contrast. "Yeah. We'll stop Jeffrey. Stop him in his tracks." -

"I'm Scorch," he growled, picking himself up off the floor. He had ducked Altermind's bullet—he'd gotten pretty good at ducking bullets over the years—which had the unfortunate side effect of making him appear to be bowing. "That chick, that guy—I dunno. Just showed up." He shot Altermind a glare: Yeah, I picked this guy. You make illusions. He makes corpses. Live with it.
