Seriously, this really is awesome. And it only serves to remind me of what awesome ship name potential Revolution has.

I named the two most popular Koschei ships and a particular Foe Yay ship that would definitely happen, were this Fanfiction.net. Koschei/Lucentia is what they would be together (a Royal Pain). Koschei/Mobius is what we would all be if they ever did get married (Royally Doomed).

It is now. I don't know. We could have…. Lucentia/weakness/dynamite Nighthound/weakness/everyone he's ever wronged Quota/dark!Funtimes The last one isn't a ship so much as a meeting that must happen.

We do need one of those, don't we? How about…. Ray/Elizabeth Trattner Ray/Set Ray/Timeport Ray/coffee shop barista Ray/guy who smuggles in the flour for Elizabeth Trattner's bakery Ray/guy who stands on the street corner selling soap Ray/guy who always buys a dozen cupcakes from Mrs. Trattner and eats them all right there in the shop Oddly enough, Ray/Quota, Ray/Lightwards and Ray/Lucentia would not be healthier than Ray/Nighthound. …I would support Nightreader if not for the nightmares.

Ray/Nighthound, but only because he has offensive powers Reader doesn't. If Reader had an offensive power or two, they would be even amounts of awful.

Probably Chimera. Panda has that whole "unhealthy obsession with pandas" thing. Ships that would be more healthy than Ray/Nighthound: Ray/Chimera Ray/Chicago Joe Ray/Nathan Ray/Remington Ray/Sam Ray/Revolution Ray/Unicyclist Ray/Backtrack Ray/Autumn Ray/Vondra Ray/Baxter Ray/Panacea Ray/Strongsteel Ray/Flashpoint Ray/random NPC whose name I forgot who watched Lightwards' raptors disembowel a kindly old man Ray/raptor Ray/random bartender Aldo unfortunately shot in the face Ray/Cricket And that's just the ones I could think of! True, although what separates Funtimes/Nathan from Nighthound/Ray is that Funtimes thinks it's mutual. And if she ever found out it wasn't, she would be crushed and horrified that she scared Nathan into liking her. Nighthound likes his relationships…well, like how they are now.

Nyan Cat, maybe. Nighthound and Ray….without….nightmares? Trying….to….picture…. o.O O.o *squinting really hard* …. Okay, I think I got the last of the nightmares out of it. Sans nightmares, it could maybe work. But as things stand, the only way to improve that relationship would be to write the four sacred words: "And then Nighthound died." Best way to end a Nighthound/Ray date ever. ;P

Not unless it were a sparkly mole. I do think that, were her powers not an issue and we were going by personality alone, they would have good chemistry. He's very much the laid-back, roll-with-the-punches type; she's bubbly and excited about everything. I guess it's the whole "opposites attract" thing. But you're right: she really does like him. A lot. And there are moments when he finds her charming and sweet, but she does need to do something about her dangerous powers and hair-trigger temper for those moments to become more common than the ones where he finds her absolutely terrifying. Is this a job for….Unobservant!Sam?

Like I said, there will be a line. Funtimes the mole-person. Shame there isn't a website where you can turn your character into an anthropomorphic mole. It definitely needs a healthier, more stable foundation than "I saved you from a sadistic precog and you ate some grump's radio and now we're dating YAY!" And Nathan would need to have some guarantee that Funtimes wouldn't come after him, allowing him to walk away at any time and evening the power balance between them. But were that to happen, I think they could have a sweet, stable relationship. Yep, that's the only change of import.

And you know the best part of that comic? If/when Team Funacid makes it to The Dalles, I have the perfect canon excuse for Remington to actually punch Reader.

That's okay. ShinySparkle could be her rebound. (It would be heartbreaking for her on a number of levels, and no rebound relationship with an Epic who makes shinies would cure her heartache. ) Is it Seth or Set? Either way, I like him. Maybe he's from Tucson, Arizona, or Sonora, Mexico, and thinks the entire world should look more like the Sonoran Desert. OH! Maybe he's a snowbird who hates snow so much he's willing to turn Oregon into a desert to keep the snow away! Sorry. Chicago Joe is in Newcago Chicago, upsetting Fortuity with his habit of stealing all the ladies.

Out of curiosity, who does she ship herself with? I mean, if she's writing Mary Sue self-insert fanfics, she must be shipping herself with a canon character, right? Does she make herself half of a true power couple and ship herself with Remington? Does she go for the sweet, everyman balance to her phenomenal cosmic power and ship herself with Nathan? Does she take the nontraditional route and ship herself with Sam? Or does she create a truly terrifying combination and ship herself with Doctor Funtimes? I'm picturing a judge pounding his gavel and saying "I sentence the two of you to lasting, lifelong matrimony, unable to be dissolved by any court of law. May God have mercy on your souls."

Worldbuilding Help for my WIP
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Creator's Corner
After thinking about it a little more, I guess what I really need help with is the Davenport. So I have it conceived as the center of Whitelaw's government—not just as the Capitol Hill of Spokane, but as where most of his government officials live and conduct their business. (It's currently a hotel, so moving there would just be a matter of them claiming a room or a series of rooms as their own, with Whitelaw's permission. Doors could be built into walls as needed.) I'm thinking there are probably thirty or so officials important enough to live there, along with aides and paralegals. Some of these officials would work for Whitelaw directly in more traditional capacities, such as his press secretary and the police chief, but others would simply be factory owners or other industrialists whose businesses were vital to Spokane's survival. So far I have the owner of the textile factory, the owner of a power plant, chief of recycling, the sewage plant exec, and a few others. Their number (30) is flexible. I have it in my head that Whitelaw is the sort of guy who wants his city to run well, and does run it well, but doesn't care about the people at the bottom. In the Davenport, this would be the staff. He wouldn't outright mistreat them, but neither would he care if someone else did. How would this manifest? I don't want to go too over-the-top into "If we don't protect our hospitality workers with better laws, they'll be BEATEN AND KILLED FOR FAILING TO SLICE A LEMON PROPERLY!!!!1!!!!!111!!!!!!" but I also plan to bring in a staff employee as a viewpoint character. What sorts of everyday trials would she face in that sort of environment—powerful people who have carte blanche permission to do what they need to keep the city running, plus a boss who doesn't care so long as their demands aren't extravagant? -

Okay, so she cuts through the floor, goes through the crawlspace, cuts a hole to get where Nathan is, and "uses" him to teleport everyone else to the kitchen—sound all right? I think there's a line. A rather long line, if my guess is correct, and we'll need to go to the end. Some people, like Terry Bloom and Autumn Glass, have literally been waiting for years to punch him. Does The Dalles thread need a flashback scene of Remington punching Reader? I think it does.

Cool. Edge, would Funtimes cutting through the floor to yank her friends to safety work, or were the diamonds covering the floor, too? That comic. O.O Is it possible to give the Nobel Peace Prize to a fan-made webcomic starring ponies based on fanfic? I think it should be.

What I meant was, do you want me to go back and figure out a different way through the living-diamond-wall thing (which I could do)? To be honest, I'm getting kind of weary of having it brought up again and again as an example of poor planning, so I wouldn't mind editing it.

Worldbuilding Help for my WIP
TwiLyghtSansSparkles replied to TwiLyghtSansSparkles's topic in Creator's Corner
I could go in that direction, but…it's different when working with a world set in (literally) an alternate universe. Brandon was able to trace the rise of a new religion without making it seem didactic or as if he were trying to say something about religion and cults in general, because he was able to create a mythology and cosmic background where the development of a new religion could be shown without implying anything about Earth religions. To do that on Earth….perhaps it could be done successfully, but I don't think I have the skill for it. I would feel more comfortable doing something like that if this story were set in a high or low fantasy world, rather than on our own planet. I didn't mean to imply anything about splinter groups in general. What I meant to do was reflect the common perception of a group that congregates around and deifies a powerful Super. In this story world, Supers make up about one third of the population, and powerful Supers are well-known, if not terribly common—somewhat analogous to genius-level intelligence. I do believe that some people would find meaning by following a powerful Super like a prophet or even a god, but in a world where power like that isn't commonly viewed as a sign of godhood, I don't think such people would be seen as normal. It would be comparable to a very intelligent person deified for their intelligence—it's happened, true, and it may have even had positive effects in the past. But the most recent examples of people becoming the centers of cults, the ones that are foremost in the public's mind, are negative (Jim Jones), and it is those examples that would be more likely to stick. Is that fair? No, probably not. Could a Super-centered cult have positive effects on the world? I'm sure they could. But by and large, I think the public would not see them in a very flattering light. I guess what I'm trying to say is: something awesome could be done taking that route, but I don't think I have the skill to pull it off. -
Do you want me to go back and edit those posts?
