Hmm. Let's go with WHIO. Edit: Also, going through TVTropes reminds me of just how many Woobies we have. I'd even contend that all of our vanilla characters, with the exceptions of Autumn and Revolution, are various shades of Woobie. Of course, given the setting, that's kind of expected.

I like both of those, but he needs a more common name for a small city in Northwestern Washington. Maybe I'll get to use one of those if he goes full supervillain. Write more. I want to read it.

Technically, Plot Bunny should be considered a party pooper and thus one of Funtimes' enemies. However, Plot Bunny is an actual bunny and therefore loved by Funtimes.

Tertiary power: Party precognition. Funtimes can see all future members of her parties, both party animals and party poopers. She can't predict the outcome of their parties, but can see whether or not her friends will live. She doesn't consider every situation a party because shaddup that'd break the plot.

I think she has a new Super Secret Weapons Project ™ for when she gives Team Funacid their Christmas gifts. In October sometime. Because Christmas is such a fun holiday, and when you're an Epic you can do pretty much anything you want, so why not celebrate Christmas on Halloween and Christmas Day? (Seriously, though, expect Nathan to have a jetpack soon. Though it would have to be after his secret is inevitably spilled to all of Portland, since it would be rather suspicious to see a powerful teleporter flying around on a jetpack. Unless she tells everyone his secondary is…um…spontaneous jetpack creation? ) Sounds good to me.

Idea: If Firefight punches minivan-sized holes in this RP, I vote we soothe our sorrow by having our characters do something so ridiculously non-canon Brandon Sanderson will laugh without knowing what he's laughing at. Like all beating up on Calamity, who is actually Santa Claus.

I think mine is coming along nicely, in my head at least. I'm getting to know my Dragon, and now he just needs a name. To bad "Draco Malfoy" (literally "dragon bad faith") is taken.

So you've discovered her weakness. (Kidding. It's not shinies. If it were, most of my posts in this RP would be nonsense.) Also, I thought of the one thing that would break the game. Nothing niggling about power types or limitations, but the revelation that teleporters do not exist in the Reckonersverse. (I think there's canon evidence for them though. And even if they haven't been mentioned, the chances they exist in a world a with evil!Superman are excellent.)

Newan, since it looks like the Astoria thread is going to be a thing, I'll tell you the main differences between Astoria and The Dalles so you can decide where your characters best fit. The Dalles is currently ruled by a former National Guard commander named Stephen Vondra. Two years ago, a healing Epic called Koschei the Deathless came to The Dalles with the intent to conquer it. He failed, but did quite a lot of damage before he was killed, including killing Vondra's oldest son. Present-day Vondra rules The Dalles like a military garrison, wielding absolute power as mayor. All Epics who were within the town borders after Koschei's death were given the choice of working for the City Guard—with restrictions placed on when and where they could use their powers—or death. Although many of the more powerful Epics lord their position over their fellow citizens, Vondra attempts to keep The Dalles a safe place for humans to live. There is Quicksilver's gang, which has attracted some of Koschei's former followers and others with a more sadistic streak, and there is currently an invasion of anthropomorphic pandas, but if you're human or a Low Epic, The Dalles is definitely going to be your best bet. Astoria hasn't appeared in any depth so far (save for a few cameos and mentions), and you will definitely need to ask Edgedancer for the specifics, as he's fleshed the place out pretty well in his notes. From what I understand, Lucentia rules it with an iron (diamond?) fist, tortured or conscripted many of the more powerful Epics into submission, and has a diamond garden full of severed heads. It's not a nice place, from what I can gather, though nearly all of the Epics created for that thread are either OP or close to it. (To give you an idea, Kobold has an Epic who can steal strength and other attributes from sharks by holding their teeth, mine can divide by zero, and Edgedancer's can trap people in diamond like flies in amber.)

And is that a definite yes on the Financier providing them with their island? Doing so would definitely be in character for him.

I can do that. True, but he got his powers in more of a prologue type thing, before the timeline of the RP. The Unicyclist will get his powers in-game.

I approve of all of this. Though it might make sense to have the strength of his shadow be tied to how far away from Pan they are. For example, new Epics in Astoria would see the shadow as though it were standing beside them. Corvallis, Salem, and other somewhat nearby towns and cities would see the shadow as still strong, but fainter. New Epics in The Dalles would see it far more faintly, though it would grow stronger and more solid the closer they got to Astoria. What do you think?

I don't know; the creator lets you use silver. That's close enough. Since The Dalles is currently under siege by an army of pandas, with three powerful adult Epics and one child Epic on their way, I'm going to say Lillian at least isn't too OP for The Dalles. Blastaway may be too OP—for now, at least. I have a feeling things are going to change in The Dalles after the panda invasion. I know the Astoria thread was still just talk at this point, though it's beginning to look like more of a serious plan. I'd need to see Blastaway in action to judge how OP he is; if he's too OP for The Dalles, we could always talk to Edgedancer and see how soon is too soon to start the Astoria thread. (The biggest snarl there is that Lucentia, who rules there, is currently subjecting Portland to her incessant complaining. If Edge didn't have any objections, I think someone mentioned starting the Astoria thread while Lucentia is absent and focusing on a few outside plots and court intrigue. Since he writes for the Queen, though, it'd be up to him when the thread starts.) But the characters we have for Astoria are all a little OP anyway, so if Blastaway is too OP for The Dalles, he might be a better fit for Astoria. Edit: Even if the hints she has are pretty obscure, that power might be game-breaking. (And I'm not sure how canon it is, either.) And even if it were neither, there would be wars started over this girl as Epics like Steelheart tried to recruit someone who could just know their opponents' weaknesses. Maybe something like strength detection—she can determine how strong an Epic's powers are and how much of a threat they might be?

They sound awesome. Although, what does "attack" mean, in Lillian's case? Does it have to be something like a bullet or a knife, could it be a punch or a kick, or would a gentle fist-bump between her shoulder blades do the job? (Additionally, does she wear protective armor over her back?) With Blastaway, how large is his blast radius? Can he control it, and if so, is the force automatically concentrated, or can he create smaller explosions? (For instance, could he blow up just a priceless Ming vase without harming anything nearby, or would the force of a larger explosion be concentrated within that Ming vase and cause the entire building to explode with the vase as its epicenter?) Also, any objections to having them ponified? (Silly question. They'll be ponified, objections or not. )

Of course we don't mind Plenty of other players joined well after the start date, so it's perfectly fine. The best place to start would currently be The Dalles. It's where we're recommending new players start, since it hasn't been going as long (and the plan seems to be destroying Portland with the oncoming war, so there wouldn't be a ton of action there afterward). However, there was also some talk of starting an Astoria thread sometime in the future, so if/when that happens, there would be another start point for you. It's super awesome of you to read the entire Portland thread first (because it's seriously long...heh) but if you want a summary, ask anyone you like. Though Seonid wrote perhaps the finest (and funniest) summary a ways back, and I would link to it if I were not currently typing this from my phone. When you're ready, PM me your character bio and weakness, if you'll be using an Epic. I'd also recommend posting the bio here before adding it to the Epics of Oregon thread. There are a lot of strong writers in this game, and they'll be able to give you some input to help make a stronger character. (It's still happening with my characters, and I've been writing them for a while.) And welcome.

If they mess with Lucentia, the Financier would like them (though wouldn't dare admit it). Maybe he gave them their island back before Lucentia had Mary torture him into compliance, perhaps building the island by multiplying dirt particles and other island materials exponentially until they had themselves a nice little island? If it happened before Lucentia arrived in Astoria, there would be no reason for her to connect the Financier to the island of Epic children.

I'm not sure, and like I said, I might be wrong on the aging thing. I'll check when I get home. Oh yes! Maybe if we wanted to go the creepy route, he could be hunting for the perfect "mother." Which might very well lead him straight to Mommy. Though it would definitely be creepier if that maternal figure was a vanilla, like Mrs. Trattner. (Yes yes yes! )

Somebody has to ship all of our crazy ships. Hmmmm....Epics age more slowly anyway, so maybe this one ages so slowly he's been a child since Calamity rose? And maybe he passively gifts this to any non-Epic in his vicinity, while the child Epics already age much more slowly and so remain children and young teens?

Especially the part where Fortuity tries to hit on Lucentia and she says something like "You are an irritating little man, but I am far more so! I SHALL FREEZE YOU IN MY DIAMOND AND WHINE ABOUT MY PERFECT LIFE!" Also, the Lost Ones is too cool NOT to happen.

That would be cool. Pan's practically an Epic anyway, so Epic!Felix isn't too far fetched. As I recall, the dialogue was so (intentionally) bad that it was almost brilliant.

I remember that guy! No idea on the powers, either. Lie detection, maybe? Since he's sort of Pan's enforcer and (if I recall correctly) caught Henry in a lie or two? I also had a dream Nathan and Sam wrote a Mafia-style movie, starring every Epic they had ever hated. They said things like... Lightwards: Cheers to us, we are a team! and Nighthound: (to Fortuity) You must know the payment for being creepy to my sister. Fortuity: No! Nighthound: *takes shirt off* It...it was odd.
