I don't. That makes everything make a lot more sense. Well, that was contradictory from the beginning, so nothing unusual there.

O.o .... Hold me. Oh, no. I knew it was just gushing. I just didn't want to come across as whining about everyone enjoying the book. Also, remember when we made WHIO sound like a nature documentary? I realized today that if Funtimes were an animal, she would be Kevin from Up.

The main reason they talk to high school juniors and seniors is because most branches will pay all or part of your college tuition if you commit to so many years (usually two of active duty) of service, with the added benefit of going in as an officer instead of starting at the bottom. But yeah, I guess it kind of is a big deal over here; there are commercials for the Army, Navy, Air Force, National Guard, and the Marines (though I'm seeing fewer than I used to). I...never thought of it as unusual, really.

We don't want it to be over too quickly? A fight between the most powerful canon Epics , while cool, would probably destroy the state in three minutes flat. You lucky duck. I'm certainly not complaining about getting it as a gift, though. Not at all. It's just the wait that's aggravating.

On a scale of Ray to Koschei, how well would Obliteration get along with Nighthound? Pics or it didn't happen.

Ha! I managed to avoid reading the spoilers when I quoted you! I feel accomplished. Hmm. Usually guilt is a not-disastrous thing in fiction. Maybe it makes a character sad, or leads them to atone for something. Freq? He should stop feeling guilty. For everyone's sake. The comparison compels me. And then Obliteration died.

I'm guessing we actually meet him, then? Unless David and Tia just discuss lore about him for 20 pages. Which...come to think of it, I'd enjoy that only slightly less than an actual appearance. I'm only to chapter 9. I managed to sneak in another 4 chapters in Walmart today, and I never actually got the chance to buy eyeshadow, so that excuse is still good.

Brandon Sanderson: America's most valuable natural resource. They usually approached me while I was a junior and senior in high school. I had a few contact me while I was getting my BA, but now that I'm in grad school I don't really hear from them anymore. I actually seriously considered getting my AA degree and then going in as an officer, while I worked on my BA, but I wouldn't have done well there. I have a friend who joined the Navy, though, and he loves it.

It's sad, how limited our military has become. I've been contacted by recruiters a few times. Usually, they were all really nice, but the military just wasn't for me.

In his defense (and this is probably the only time I'll ever defend Frequency) if I had allied myself with Koschei, proclaimed his divinity as he merrily slit throats left and right, and then he died--I'd flee the wrath of Vondra and Springfield, too. I've just read the first mention of him, but if he can level a city without much effort, then I'm scared of him already.

IF the publisher isn't lying to us again. The back of Steelheart said Firefight would be out in fall of 2014. Now it's January, and here we are...

I have a theory about Sourcefield, and weaknesses by extension, bu I'm only on chapter 9 so it's too early to tell.

I've been reading it in snatches, and I'm surprised by how much we've gotten right so far. Most of its minor stuff, like new Epics going a bit crazy at first, but it's still cool.

I almost downvoted that comment just for torturing me. Halfway through, though. That's a good sign. If Firefight had contradicted everything within the first few chapters, I'd be worried. Maybe, when you finish, you should just post the number of things that contradict the RP and their severity, and maybe the page number. The rest of us can be prepared to discuss those things and figure out how badly they contradict what we've written. (I'd like it, anyway. )

If by "secret weapon" you mean "presser of one of her berserker buttons," then yes, she would be. So jealous! WHY MUST MY BIRTHDAY BE ON SATURDAY??? I have a plan, though. The nearest bookstore is about 10 minutes from where I work. So if I just leave for work a bit early from now until Saturday, I'll be able to squeeze in a few chapters each day, and hopefully finish off the rest of the book during work on Saturday. (Saturdays are usually pretty slow, considering only the sales department is there; my boss actually encourages me to take my laptop and work on homework. So it's all good.) That way I won't have to slow up the RP's progress too terribly much, and I can join the rest of you in gushing a bit earlier. Now I just have to come up with a decent excuse….for every day of the week. Today's excuse: I need to stop by the mall and pick up more eyeshadow, and I want to get there early because I'm afraid post-Christmas returns will clog up all the stores. Or maybe I just want to stop by Hot Topic and gaze at the new Who stuff they've gotten in. Argh. My excuses are like David's metaphors.

I will work on his first POV scene while waiting for my car. And I'm not sure if you saw (I think you did?) but Tulir's characters are NPCs for the time being. Also, CURSE YOU BIRTHDAY! Why must you be so far away? Oh well. I'll ask to open my sister's present in the morning before work. She bought it yesterday and promised me it's not Firefight when I said I knew what it was. So I know what it is and she knows I know.
