    TwinyghtSansSparkles: I don't have a twin. Sand Sparkle: Sand can be sparkly along stretches of the Oregon coast, but that's mostly because of the beach glass. Though, in the near future, the sparkles near Astoria won't be as friendly…. Sane Sparkle: Ha! You used my name and "sane" in the same sentence without an "isn't" between them. Sads Sparkle: Tears can be sparkly, I guess. Bans Sparkle: Never. Sins Sparkle: I fail to see how sparkles can be sinful. Sank Sparkle: Not sure what this means, but I'm now tempted to build a boat just so I can call it the USS Sparkle.

    I just realized. If you change one letter in Edgedancer's screen name, it's Edgedanger. I think I need more sleep because I find this far too amusing.

    It could have been cool, but it also would have removed the underdog element from the story. Giving David powers would have placed him on a more even keel with Prof and other Epics (unless he got really lame powers like Curveball's, but since it was Calamity himself giving the powers, that seems unlikely), and in doing so it would have made the rest of the series less thrilling.

    Like watching a stampede coming toward you while you're trapped in Jello, thinking it's all enraged wildebeests with razor-sharp poisoned teeth and claws—which wildebeests aren't supposed to have—only to learn once they get there that some of them are lions with hydrokinetic powers and some of them are pyrokinetic pugs. It's awesome and confusing and hilarious and my mind is BLOWN to smithereens right now.

      I go by the philosophy that there's ample time for savoring one the second, third, and fourth re-readings. The fifth and sixth re-readings are for memorization purposes, and everything after the twelfth is rote ritual. :P

      I tend to read very carefully even my first time around, because I very seldomly re-read. There are simply so many good books around.

    Thanks everyone! Firefight is even better when I don't have to read it standing up in the store. As for anything else you can do for me….the only thing I can think of is being prepared to add me to that PM later. The sales guys where I work tied a bunch of balloons to my chair and got me this amazing-looking cupcake, so I'm already feeling pretty spoiled.
