"Why couldn't she meet Fluttershy first?" Definitely.
-
And then Discord could meet Funtimes without risking universe implosion!

Here's another idea for the tutorial thread: Host it in sessions. We could open new threads for different sessions, run the sessions for 5-7 days (or more or less) and close the thread when the session is over. Also, how insane is the random chaos thread going to be? Because if there's time travel, there is NOTHING stopping Funtimes from bringing Josef Stalin to Calamityville and repeatedly stomping on his feet to make him yell, aka "make pretty music."

I don't make the news, I just report it. And the sad, frightening reality is that most Astorians fail to heed the words of the one they dismiss as a madman.

The Church of the Singularity is more of a humorous side note than anything else. The Financier is pretty much the only one who takes it seriously.

Tutorial land is intended to give new players a chance to test out their characters, but the idea of it gaining it's own canon could become intimidating. Maybe if we provide entry points for new players, then allow them to find others once they become more comfortable interacting with NPCs? You know a game is going to be intense when the least nightmare-inducing character has "Death" in his name.

Avoiding as in refusing to interact with. Brutally slaughtering scores of women would potentially give the Reckoners a clue as to his weakness, not to mention give entire towns full of people a good reason to band together against a common enemy. By relegating women to the lower ranks of his army, allowing a select few to rise to the top but still refusing to speak with them directly, he can pass himself off as a sexist pig, rather than an Epic whose weakness is potentially half the human race. Definitely no godmodding, though I'm not sure what you meant by "planning."

I was more thinking how surreal the mass execution scene from the first book would be. Arnold Schwarzenegger looking on as Arnold Schwarzenegger executes an endless stream of Arnold Schwarzeneggers, as Arnold Schwarzenegger gives a passionate speech to a group of Arnold Schwarzeneggers about how they have to fight back.
-
-
I think the true nightmare would be casting Arnold Schwarzenegger as everyone. Including the extras. Especially the extras.
-
Where did you want to start it? If I don't get an answer, I'll put the location as "Random Gas Station, Anywhere, USA." Also, Kobold, would Darkrose's weakness have anything to do with the bakery?
-
I'm ready to set that thread up whenever.

How far back was this line?

Fun fact: If Cormac tried to bully pre-Calamity Funtimes, she would react the same way she reacted to CorpseMaker. She would insist upon calling him Jeffrey. Just because. From the RP or from the Mirrorverse fic?
-
Sirce, would you mind spoilering that last post? I think almost all the players here have read the book, but there are visitors who haven't. And as Winter pointed out, this game is set two years before Steelheart. Edit: Spoilered. Just in case.

He should enjoy his tyranny while he can.

This entire RP is set in the future. By the time Calamity arrives, I'll be several states away from my current location, so those Epics can have at it.

Write what you know.

Here's a few suggestions.... Moses Lake, WA. A smallish town with a large gang problem before Calamity, it has a small enough area for players to bump into each other, but large enough to roam. There are a few nicer suburbs, a decent downtown area, and some bad neighborhoods. Let's assume that whichever Epic got their powers first had the lake dredged, because that thing ALWAYS smelled like dead fish. Post Falls, ID. Sort of a sleepy little tourist town, this place has a lake, pine trees, and lots of cute shops for marauding Epics to loot. Douglas, WY. A small town on the prairie with no mall or Walmart, but a jackalope statue in the center of town and the best county fair I've ever seen. Tucson, AZ. This is where we send the Epics we don't like. A city in the middle of the freaking desert, with a few malls and some good stores, but very little to do. But that's okay! What Tucson lacks in entertainment, it more than makes up for with blazing sunshine, searing heat, and old people who enjoy their retirement by driving VERY SLOWLY.

The last one is completely ridiculous. Everyone knows that time-traveling Funtimes would go back to medieval Ireland, snag a leprechaun, and bring him back to Oregon for a family reunion with Lightwards.
-
Heck, we could even throw gravity to the wind and make it What Happened on the Moon. We'd take care of the oxygen problem by shut up this is no time for stupid questions. Joking aside, I actually really like the idea of removing it as far from Oregon as possible.

With the Gresham thread, I think it'd be good to keep established characters out as much as possible. However, I also think that it would be good to bring an established character to Gresham now and then to give new players a chance to see said character's personality and MO--though if that's what we wind up doing, it might be better to make the tutorial thread completely separate from Oregon continuity so we don't have to continually invent reasons for established characters to visit Gresham. Make it a Hunger Games-style arena, though without the sole survivor rule. What do you guys think?
