  1. Brandon Sanderson. He wrote Steelheart. You know…the book?
  2. Sure does, Mr. Sanderson. HINT HINT HINT.
  3. More like turn on the capslock of rage long enough to tell them that HE TOOK THIRTY SECONDS TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION! THAT'S THIRTY SECONDS WE'LL NEVER GET BACK AND THIRTY SECONDS HE COULD HAVE SPENT ANSWERING A QUESTION THAT ACTUALLY TELLS US SOMETHING!
  4. True. But it's listed under "Non-Cosmere Works" on his website, and every time he's asked it at a signing (most of which are transcripted) or in an AMA, Sanderson always says no. Either he's running the longest con in fantasy history, or he's telling the truth.
  5. Shard of Disney. The more often you sing cheery ballads about being a man or painting with strange colors, the more powerful you become. Bonus points if you get those songs stuck in peoples' heads. Oh, wait—that's a fantastic idea.
  6. She took her sketchpad to school so she can work on Oklahoma! for us. I have photographic evidence. EDIT: Also….
  7. I told her she will be disappointing the pugs if she doesn't. She has yet to reply to my text, but I trust she'll do it. For the pugs.
  8. It's listed as non-Cosmere on his fan site, and he's confirmed it several times in Q&A sessions.
  9. They're all beautiful. Oh my gosh, it's the Pug League! The Justice Pugs? Whatever, they're so ADORABLE! That makes a lot of since. I've never lived on my own at this point—it just made more financial sense to live with my parents. Although this helped in a lot of ways, I guess it never gave them the chance to see me acting like a responsible adult. I just stayed a kid in their eyes. Hopefully, I'll be moving out soon. I hope that changes the dynamics at least a bit.
  10. I showed my sister (the one who drew Steelheart and Ninja!Nightweilder) this profile: and she expressed interest in drawing him. Quick, everyone say you want her to so she'll have no choice!
  11. Absolutely. It's closer to the city limits than the Financier would like, but it's decorated with stained glass windows bearing Savior Zero's image.
  12. Waving a cheery goodbye to the mildly confused and deeply disturbed happy couple as they leave the Sacred Outhouse.
  13. Cue Funtimes saying she wants Backtrack to show her why Mount Hood is so sad and how they can make it happy again.
  14. If he were to say something about Koschei not showing up, and Autumn were to reply that he's on Mount Hood (without adding he's very dead and buried there) how would Backtrack react?
  15. In a deleted scene, Arsenal loses his temper on the kitchen staff because they ran out of napkins. Plot twist: He doesn't use napkins.
  16. I came up with the most useless Epic today. Name: Oklahoma! (exclamation point extremely necessary) Power: Instant teleportation to Tulsa, Oklahoma. Restrictions: Once in Tulsa, he can only teleport between downtown and the suburbs. If he wants to leave Tulsa, he'll need to take a bus. Modus Operandi: Alternates between wanting to destroy Tulsa and protecting it at all costs. His Rending involved many angry rants about the city, given between bouts of hugging the buildings, trees, and people while sobbing about how much he hated them.
  17. "While I agree in principle, you've given Backtrack an image he can never unsee. It's all we can do to hope he doesn't spend the rest of his days sobbing in terror."
  18. She would definitely reprimand Edgerunner for both slapping/pantsing Reader and setting a bad example for other Epics, but she would have to try very hard to hold back a laugh. Later, she might take Edgerunner aside and explain that although she couldn't condone the methods used, she did think it was a good idea to keep Reader in line and suggest they speak to Vondra about coming up with a system that doesn't involve public pantsings.
  19. I won't lie: I'm insanely jealous. Also, every time I imagine Arsenal's reaction to that call, I picture him storming over to Shiny Sparkle, yanking Autumn's hand from hers, and telling her to "Stop smiling! This is not a happy place!"
  20. Thanks Honestly, though, that's stuff I picked up just attending. I could also tell you some of the stories our sensei would tell us at the end of each class, and how it's taken me until now to really understand most of them. I'd definitely start back up again. I'm a bit rusty, but if I could, I'd love to work toward a black belt again. Like Winter, I'd also recommend taking classes if you can. I'd recommend against Tae Kwan Do, though. Most of those dojos push you through the ranks so fast you can earn a black belt in a year or two--which means you don't learn as much as you should during that time.
  21. Not nearly as much as if I were a black belt. Shudokan black belt tests begin with a yearlong probation period, where you have to teach white belts. Your sensei monitors you to see how you cope teaching them, and then you get to take the test. In front of not only your sensei, but his sensei (who you'd call a shihan, or "teacher of teachers"). Most brown belts don't pass the first time, and have to go back to the probation period all over again. Thankfully, no. But I did learn a lot about self-discipline and developing natural talent, which I think is just as useful.
  22. Their code of honor was also the live-up-to-it-or-die-trying sort, if you catch my drift. Personally, from what I've seen of Ninjitsu, I think Shudokan and its sister styles are better for defensive purposes. They assume you'll be meeting an assailant in broad daylight, or fighting them off after being attacked from behind. Ninjitsu relies too much on the element of surprise, in my opinion.
  23. How can anyone hate that guy? He's adorable.
  24. Right. And that's part of why he hated it so much. Samurai, he told us, had a code of honor that they upheld at all costs. Ninjas killed in the dead of night for whoever paid the most. He taught a lot of kids, and I think he felt teaching them to face down bullies like a paid assassin would have been the wrong lesson.
