  1. Saw my Cowboy Bebop ending and had to shoutout to it. Definitely appropriate for Alloy of Law era!
  2. Why am I not surprised you were a Skindancer at least once?
  3. Yeah. Linguistic Analysis. I don't remember what the balances were but it's worth asking @Elbereth, @little wilson, or @Burnt Spaghetti - I remember at one point the Village was trying to get an Evil Burnt to make an alignment statement in the thread in order to scan her with Linguistic Analysis. Not really certain roles, per se. You had to go into the Linguistic Analysis field, but anyone could do that as you're all students at the University, even if some of you are, apparently, ethically-challenged.
  4. Welcome aboard! Image posting etiquette is essentially what @StrikerEZ said. As long as they conform to site rules and subforum (i.e. SE subforum) rules, they're fine.
  5. Double-posting so this is a distinct message for anyone who is not following the edit in the rules: As I have mentioned, PMs will be open. As per standard procedure, please include me in all PMs. Please do not include the IM, Wilson, as she'd prefer not to be dragged into y'all shenanigans and stuff. Thanks!
  6. I mean, why actually play the games seriously when I can just chill out and antagonise Wyrm Glad to have you on board
  7. My good looks and my suave - Oh, sorry. I'm just that good I guess
  8. Now all we need is for Danex to cause a lynch last-minute, get sussed hard for it, have everyone who voted on Dexan killed, and we'll have Horseplay 2.0 all the way from LG6
  9. I think I'd really love to see what a player like Maili or Drake could do with this, since there's the element of potentially sharing someone else's location or info-brokering (Or, I suppose, a lot of people lying about their location to try to trick the location out from someone else.) I like the general idea and I think you're right that it'll be interesting to build a location system on top of the base game. I have some questions/thoughts about the location rules in particular: Players are not informed if their location changes unless otherwise specified. How does this work? Does this mean you can't change your location unless you use a location ability (and those have 1 charge)? Since OoA has location actions a step below Allomantic actions, I'd assume that even if your target changes location, as long as you specify where they began from at the start of the night, you should be good to go. I'm a bit concerned about the Elim Coinshot issue. If the Elims don't have a faction kill, or if the faction kill is location-dependent, then without the Coinshot, the Elims are going to be in trouble. (Of course the Elims could have more than one Coinshot and this is likely given the location issues, just thinking that this then tells the players something about the likely distro.) Four buildings seems good to me. There's still concerns about players randomly guessing but four should reduce that to unlikely. I do like the Elim location scan as it prevents Village from hunkering down. And I think the prospect of using their abilities should make Villagers a bit more free with information. That being said, what's to stop Villagers from deciding not to share info and turning this into a vanilla game? It's not entirely awful as a prospect since the Elims would be tied down to whoever they scanned the Night before, and it's plausible that the player may simply have moved right after the scan. I like the location roles and am interested in this game and seeing how they interact But my perspective as a player might be an outlier because I don't feel incentivised enough to necessarily give up my location.
  10. Your team won, and you were enough of a threat to the Elims that they had to try to avoid you getting elected. Job well done, I'd say I don't think there's really a 'right' way to Watchwoman. You didn't trust Striker, which was in itself already a big plus. And as Mat said, you gave him cover to work with, after all. Of course, Avalon has established Watchwoman/Percival meta, but meta's meta. In a game like this, it doesn't matter (meta?) what the established meta is, as long as you're having fun and it's working for you and your team
  11. Funny you should ask. Have you heard of the tragedy of Kasimar the Voidbringer? I thought not. It's not a story most players would tell you. It's a darkeyes legend. Kasimar was a Voidbringer, so talkative and so wise he kept the darkeyes doc filling up with pages... And he had such a knowledge of players' alignments that he could identify if certain players were Blasphemous Scholars of the Seventeenth Shard... Voidbringing and Monty Python sketches are a pathway to abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so chatty, the only thing he was afraid of was being exiled to the dead doc and reduced to a 140 character tweet...which eventually, of course he was. Unfortunately, he gave his bro his trust and his dying PM, and suspicions, then his bro stabbed him five times and killed him. Ironic. He could see truly the alignments of men, but not that of his bro.
  12. Seven years too late, Dulabro Dunno, you feeling threatened there mate? Could I interest you in a second-hand stab vest? Acquired off a certain darkeyes in the Riots of Kholinar...
  13. Aftermath - 15th Doxil, 237 Szeth was assassinated. He was a Worker! The Workers have won the game! Player List: Dossiers: Thank you for playing! It's been a nice, quiet, chill game, nothing like the huge clusterchulls I've been GMing (#MR7 #neverforget) and it's been a pleasure to have been your GM. Hope you had fun! Post-mortem/AAR to follow. Thanks also to @Devotary of Spontaneity for being a great IM. Chilling and commenting in the PM was fun P.S. I'll leave my bro @Wyrmhero to talk about the go to sleep award since he had only one job
  14. I feel like there really are two separate issues here: the genesis of the safehand concept, and why the left hand in particular. We have an explicit WoB that the genesis of the safehand concept was meant to allow males to consolidate control over Shardblades, and that the concept itself is traced to an essay (no comment on whether it was a Herald's essay) : [Ref here] and [Ref here] It's a bit strange to say it's weird - well, of course it is. It's a taboo and taboos don't always have to be logical. There is also a strand of reasoning, which is that it's convenient as a means of keeping (at that time) Shardblades out of female hands. And then eventually the taboo just sticks even after the reasoning for it is gone. I'm not sure that necessarily begs for any particular or additional explanation even though the female philosopher could very well have been a Herald. As for why the left hand in particular, again, I don't feel as though that particularly cries out for explanation given that most people are right hand dominant and the same issue seems to be true in Alethkar. Right hand grips, left hand guides, especially for a weapon as large as a Shardblade. Stipulating that the non-dominant hand is not to be used is probably an easier ask and still locks them out of Shardblade use. I like crack theories, just thought I'd engage with some of these
  15. Have you heard of the legend of the LG6 D1 lynch? I thought not. It's not a story most players would tell you. It's an ancient legend. lev was a horse so powerful and unexpected, he could run away with the votes and cause a D1 lynch. The 'lolwhatever' side of players is a path to RP characters some might consider...unnatural. He became so powerful the only thing he had to be afraid of was dying, and he was Fanged in a later cycle and lynched, requiring the GM to write both a horse causing a lynch and a horse getting lynched. Ironic. He could cause others to die, but died himself.
  16. Due to the nature and themes of the game, I will not be accepting sign-ups that require me to write child death. I think this is a reasonable line to draw given that, like most SE RP GMs, I work to accommodate players who have signed up as worldhoppers or horses.
