Yeah, I read that last night after you posted your first reply. as the Ardents are for all the book related boards I would like to change my suggestion to that when we eventually add a new section to the boards the mod group should be called the Cobalt Guard, cause it's a pretty sweet name

or make an award that won't show up anywhere but the award listing page, then give your self that award.

Ahhh... I see, I thought Ardents were specifically SA but I guess they mod all book discussion. I thought that the other groups are for other books but I guess it's entirely different boards. Edit* (this site doesn't have face palm emoticon)

I don't think it is a title per se but there have been at least 2 people who have gone by the name of Hoid. In the first sample chapter for Dragonsteel there are 2 people talking, one is named Hoid and I'm pretty sure he is dying (it's been a while since I read it), the other is named Mindus Midius. Hoid dies and I don't remember what happens next but I do recall it being said that the Hoid that we see popping up all over the place is actually the Mindus Midius dude. In WoK he even says that Hoid isn't actually his real name. I'm pretty sure that when they say hoid was around when Adonalsium shattered they mean he was involved in the circumstances of what caused the shattering as Dragonsteel is supposed to be the story about when Adonalsium shattered, and is also the story about the orgins of Hoid. It just wouldn't make sense to not have them be directly related to each other. The 16 Shards are just that, a purpose. Well actually they are intents, but it's pretty much the same thing as what you were suggesting. That being said I don't see how there could be a 17th piece that was not a Shard, the 16 Shards don't really have any physical form after all, a new intent/purpose would just be a new Shard. As far as we know, the Seventeenth Shard is just an organization that exists within the Cosmere. That's it, we don't know who's in it or what their goals/intentions are. But I don't think that they are trying to keep the Shard seperate. Rather I think that they want them to get back into one complete Something. I'm pretty sure Hoid is a part of the society and those seem to be his goals at least. EDIT* Fixed spelling of name

I would go for a hard copy. I have found that the bigger a paperback book is the faster it wears out, also when books 2-10 come out they will be released in hardback form before softback, In my opinion it looks better when you have either all hard copies or all soft copies of a series on a shelf together rather then some hard and some soft. Also, if you have an Ereader I'm pretty sure that you can get a ebook version of the book for just a little bit more then the paperback version from Barnes and Noble/Amazon. I'm pretty sure most Ereaders can use either one or both of the file types used by those distributors so I would just find out what you are compatible with and make the decision from there. (Personally I like a physical copy of my books but if you don't mind it then an Ebook would be the best value as it would last you the longest)

I know of a situation a few years back where he had proven himself to be a charitable person, on the one condition that the media was kept in the dark about what he did. I think that he may have in fact been more giving then people give him credit for, because he really didn't want the recognition in the first place. But that's just me trying to find the best in a person

I know at some libraries parents can block their children's accounts from checking out certain books. Obviously if the child is determined to read the book this is won't stop them from getting a hold of it some other way, but IMO it is a much better solution then making these books inaccessible to the rest of the general public.

So I just finished my homework that's due today (it's half past one in the morning) and now I'm facing a bit of a dilemma, do I go to bed now and risk sleeping late? or do I hold out all night, force my self to stay awake through school, then when I get home crash on my bed and sleep till 8/9pm, realize that I haven't finished my assignments for Wednesday, try to do them, and then slack off until it's one in the morning and rush like mad to finish them. It's a very hard decision to make.

As this is a thread about food I think it is an appropriate place to inform you that, if you are not from utah, odds are you eat french fries and onion rings WRONG!!! What I am referring to is your disturbing lack of an amazing delicacy known as "Fry Sauce". The thing about Fry Sauce is that no one really quite agrees on how to make it. Most people go with 2:1 ratio of mayonnaise to ketchup but in my opinion that is slightly to low and I will add a tad more ketchup till I get it to a nice pink color. feel free to adjust ratios of mayo to ketchup until you find one that you like, fry sauce is an art not a science. I also recently discovered that if a small amount of pickle juice or buttermilk is added to the mixture it will come out tasting much better.

As the Shard of Flame would have the power over flame, I think that this would be a good figurine for Silus, I think it represents him in a nice symbolic way. It has the power to create flame, and it represents the power to destroy flame. Yeah I know that that was a bit of a stretch but still it was the best thing I could find for him

I just took a look at Sil's profile and he's been offline since around 3:30 this afternoon (I don't know what time zone you're in so I'll just tell you that would be about 3 and a half hours ago). I don't know how likely that he would have see this thread so I posted a comment on his profile with a link to this page, he'll be notified of it next time he logs on.
