Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Seonid replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Doc12 I've already defended myself against the charge of distracting from meaningful discussion - and, to be clear, I do not consider discussion about the bondsmith win condition to be a distraction, especially not on day 1 - but I'll respond to your slightly more nuanced charge. To my understanding, your accusation, and the accusation of Aman before, is that by bringing up the things I have talked about, I am distracting from the lynch. The implication is that this is something a diagrammist would do, because they want to disrupt lynches. I've been an eliminator before, and - with the exception of the time when my compatriot was already up for the lynch - I've always been a fan of the d1 lynch. As a villager, I've had reservations, but as an eliminator, I've quite enjoyed that the d1 lynch does my work for me. If I were an eliminator now, I wouldn't be attempting to draw the village away from lynch discussion, I'd be encouraging it. Especially in a faction game, where I can rely on faction rivalries to influence lynch votes. Especially on d1, when lines of communication are not yet up, and i might even be able to get people to lynch someone from their own faction. With luck, it could even be one of their important roles/ranks. Remember, this is a faction game. There is no village. Only half of the players can theoretically be relied on to share your interests, and in practice, likely as low as 8 of the 20. Could even be less, if there's an asymmetric distribution of diagrammists among us. The rules that make sense in a standard game - like always having d1 lynches, like lynch discussion always give useful information - don't necessarily hold here. After all, there are going to be players who defend each other - because they belong to the same faction. And voting to lynch someone could just as easily be a player trying to remove someone on the other faction. The most important thing we can do today is get in contact with our faction via our rank PMs.- 329 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Seonid replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
@Amanuensis, there's not much to say to that charge. I was at work, and literally just spewing out my thoughts on the game. I almost never have suspicions on the first cycle, and I hate the institution of Day 1 lynches (even as I recognize it as the most effective use of the village's time). Mostly because I'm no good at it, of course - I'd feel much better if I actually had any skill at analyzing statements and finding suspicious behavior. But what I am good at - is distribution analysis and other forms of meta-analysis. I can look at places roles have been and work out who is what and why, and what that could mean for alignment. Of course, that means that I'm not really valuable until later on in the game, and often even not then. I'm a mediocre to poor SE player, and I own it. I play these games to have fun, and guessing distributions is fun to me (so is RP, though I don't have enough energy and time to GM LG29, RP in the AG, try to keep LG 28 alive, and be a super-active RPer in this game.) And when I'm asked so early in the cycle if I have any thoughts, while I'm at work without much ability to go back over and actually analyze a bunch of posts - well, then I'll just give my public thoughts. Even if they aren't useful yet. If you want to lynch me for it, go ahead.- 329 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'll sign up. Senn Conrad, back to live through the nightmare once more! Senn is a minor nobleman, who is also fully aware that he's lived through this before. Twice, in fact. The odd thing is, the first time he lived through it, he was a servant of Ruin. The second time, his matter abandoned him and Ruin's servants killed him N1. This time, he doesn't know what he'll be. Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Seonid replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
My suspicion is that the commander in question either opened a PM with a private or hasn't been online. With only 20 players, we are left with 10 per side. 9 after subtracting our various honored supreme leaders. Assuming 2 commanders, we are down to 7 underlings to divide between them. If each commander has 2 captains, then one captain will be left without a private. It's possible that there could be 3 captains, two with one private and one with two, but that makes the symmetry really obnoxious. Now, if there's only one commander, then there could be 2 captains, each with 3 underlings. But that would leave the commander knowing exactly as much about his organization as his honored supreme leader. While that would be good in the real world for redundancy's sake, it would remove the niche of the supreme leader - they would be largely superfluous. Those are my reasons for believing as I do.- 329 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Seonid replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'll pass on the coffee, though a good hot chocolate might interest me. Other than making one of the first posts of the game, advocating against the use of cooks first cycle, and expressing my preference for the bondsmith win con, thereby sparking a decent discussion culminating in Joe's avowal to lynch anyone who supports the win con - no, I haven't had much to say. I've got thoughts on possible distributions of ranks - I suspect 2 commanders, each with a captain and either 2 or 3 privates reporting to them. That gives us a nicely split 10 per side - I'd assume a symmetric proportion of diagrammists, so either 2 or 3 per side. Most likely 2, since 6 total diagrammists means that only one of each of the other 2 factions need to die for the bondsmith ability. So 4 total eliminators, and the rest of us. Don't have much time beyond this tonight, so I'll see y'all in the morning- 329 replies

LG29: Day Five - Entropy Ruin waited patiently for his prey. His power surged in his physical form, waiting to be unleashed. It had been far too long. His target came into view, just over the horizon. The worldhopper called Magestar was traveling on the surface of this world, blissfully unaware of the Shardic avatar of entropy. Although a tiny burst of power could easily age the worldhopper’s heart by a century, killing him, or perhaps reduce a few key blood vessels to dust, Ruin was eager and anxious to exercise the power of ending on a grand scale. Destroying the planet was, unforutnately, forbidden at the moment (though he thought he might be able to get away with it if he could convince the coalition that Hoid had been there - legitimate military targets and all that). So was rendering its surface uninhabitable. Both would have been very fun. So he decided to do something simple. Converting all of the matter in a 2 cm radius around Magestar into antimatter would release more than enough energy to kill his target, would leave most of the planet still habitable, and would be the most fun he’d had in millennia. So he did it. The explosion was the most massive that world had ever seen. The shock wave flattened towns, incinerated farmsteads, and depopulated a mid-sized city. Earthquakes triggered by the explosion caused massive damage, and one diverted the course of a large river through the largest city on the continent. All told, it was a beautiful sight. But something was missing. It didn’t quite have enough...flair. Frowning, Ruin watched the expanding destruction for a moment. Then he smiled. Under the place where Magestar had once stood was a geological hot spot. It hadn’t erupted in a thousand years, but the force of the explosion had awoken it to life again. With a touch more power, it burst into what would soon become a new mountain, rising from the surrounding plane. Volcanic, of course. Now that was style. Whistling merrily to himself, Ruin returned to his business. Several hours later, the rapidly hardening lava cracked open, and Magestar stood. Slightly burned, and surrounded by a protective shield of power, he surveyed the apocalyptic landscape around him. Shaking his head, he vanished. PUNisher (harambe) has passed to the Spiritual Realm. He was an Elantrian! AliasSheep (AliasSheep) has been Returned! Magestar (Magestar) was attacked, but survived! Day 5 has begun, and will end in 48 hours. Player List: 1. Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Seonid replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I could get on board with that. Orlok Although, I must point out that it is possible that the entire eliminator team could be inactive. IIRC, the House kills randomly if nobody puts in an order. And killing the House is the last thing on the list, which means that the House's random kill would go through before the House died.- 980 replies

Mid-Range Game 19: Return to Urithiru
Seonid replied to little wilson's topic in Sanderson Elimination
This is going to be interesting. Nobody is quite sure that even their own faction is safe. Now, personally, I'm a fan of the bondsmith victory condition, but that'll take a wee little bit of coordination, or sheer dumb luck. I'd advise that cooks not kill this cycle, at least until you have a decent idea about who's on your side and who's not. The last thing we want to do is kill our own factions light radiant by mistake. Of course, if you aren't in my faction, go ahead and kill your own knights, please. Do our work for us. I might poke vote someone later this cycle, after I do rollover for LG29.- 329 replies

Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Seonid replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Well that works. Alright - number time. 14 players left, 3 of them evil. JUQ is gone for good, it looks like. I haven't paid close enough attention to know general activity levels. We should have reasonable control of the vote atm. No way to know if there are inactives on the eliminator team. We can hope. I don't have anything atm in terms of suspicion. I'm going to place a vote on nathan , because I seem to remember that DA tried to swing a lynch onto him. Given his activity level, I honestly think that it could have been an attempt to gain trust by throwing an inactive teammate under the bus. Worth a shot, at least. If anyone has better suspicions, I'm more than happy to listen- 980 replies

LG29: Night Four - Unleashed Fears As dawn broke, the worldhoppers of Sel woke to a world much less secure than the one they had gone to sleep in. Another Shard was dead, Shattered by the power of the Lord of Hate. But this time, the outlet of their fears was not protected. This time, blood would calm their fears. There was, after all, nothing quite like killing someone you were afraid of to make you not afraid of them further. The howling mob formed in the streets of Arelon, where Kaloo lived. He was well-known to be a late sleeper, and today was no different. In that respect, at least. Kaloo was also a deep sleeper, so the first inkling he had of anything being wrong was when his front door was battered down. Groggy and bleary eyed, he arose weakly, trying to focus on his surroundings as shadowy forms burst into his bedroom and dragged him from his bed. He died before waking up enough to realize what was happening. Kaloo (TheMightyLopen) has been lynched! Their role and alignment will be revealed when they pass from the Cognitive Realm. Vote Count: Assassin (1): Bard Lopen (6): Assassin, Mage, Alvron, DroughtBringer, Arinian, Len Mage (4): Lopen, Stick, Araris, Doc Len (1): Kasimir Night 4 has begun, and will end in a little under 26 hours. Player List: 1. Assassin in Burgundy - First of the Game 2. Master Elodin - Second of the Signups 3. Jondesu - Quintus 17th Shard Worldhopper 4. AliasSheep - Kelen Taldar 5.
