Quick Fix Game 21: The Name's Smith, John Smith
Seonid replied to AliasSheep's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Sigh. I don't really have time. But I'll give it a shot, since you don't have enough people signed up. I'll even resurrect my very first character for this. Sign me up as Niobe. -
Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
After lurking most of the day, and all of the night, I've come to the conclusion that - of the two players currently up for the lynch - Nyah (Nyali) is the most likely to be Spiked. I really doubt that Spiked!Nikki would have gotten their team's Mistborn under heavy suspicion like she did D1. And the argument against lynching Dalinar last night was almost certainly not what a Spiked would do. Rae is a good player - very good, in fact - and she knows more than well enough how to avoid associating yourself with your teammates. And publicly saying that the village shouldn't lynch the most suspicious player on D3, after that player has survived 2 lynches (one via Riotoing and one via Thuggishness) and a Coinshot attack already is not the way to fly under the radar as an Eliminator. Not even to save your Mistborn. The other thing to note is that there was never any other viable lynch target. Lopen accumulated a few votes, but almost nobody voting on Lopen actually advocated swinging the lynch that way. Dalinar was the clear lynch target for almost the entire day. There was no way that the lynch was going anywhere else - there were isolated pockets of dissent, but nowhere near enough to swing a lynch. So strongly defending Dalinar would have been an obviously suicidal choice of action from even early on in the day.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss

Ah. Right. I forgot further commentary. If we have that many Lurchers, what does that day about how many kills there are? Got me paranoid over whether the Coinshot is evil is what it did.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
The Spiked did have a Mistborn in LG1 and in AG1, and that mistborn masqueraded as a seeker in LG1, which led directly to the village loss. In AG1, the option was considered, but rejected. I was the first kill in AG2, and stored following that game shortly after. So I don't have much insight from there. (Unlike @Elbereth, I don't have an encyclopedic memory of the games here. :P) As for votes, I'm becoming less and less certain of the lynch on Dalinar. I'll still vote for him, but his reactions aren't consistent with what I'd expect a spiked to do. I'd honestly expect trolling by this point, when it's obvious that he's dead this round. I'm still voting for him, of course. Even thigh I think it better than even chances that he's a villager, he's still the single most suspicious person in my mind. Even innocent, we gain information. I'll dissent from Wilson here, we don't gain as much information as we should have at this point as the village, but we gain more information now by lynching dalinar as we do from anyone else, with the possible exception of Lopen. Normally, I'd say let the vig kill take care of him, but we've tried that once, and that didn't go anywhere. Also, my apologies for my lack of activity. I didn't want to do a non - RP post, but RP takes a great deal more time and effort out of me than simple analysis does. Finally, @TheMightyLopen claimed Smoker to me. He's my second choice after Dalinar for a lynch. If he is indeed a village Lurcher, that tells us something about the distribution. It means that we had at least 2 protection roles, and possibly 3, if the Lurcher who protected Wilson isn't the same as the one who saved Dalinar.- 1403 replies

Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Senn Conrad woke blearily, his mind still filled with his dreams of the night before. Suddenly, he snapped awake. The Shards! Hoid and the 17th Shard had collected the scattered Shards of Adonalsium, and the once-shattered God of the Cosmere was about to be reborn! As his consciousness slowly focused on his surroundings, he frowned. Reasonably rich quarters, but not tastelessly opulent. Dark sky outside, with...was that an ashfall? His mind slowly woke from his exhausted sleep of the night before. Dreams. Weird dreams. Dreams of places and things he had never heard before. In the light of day, he was almost certain that shards and gods and the Cosmere were the delusion of a frightened and tired mind. If only those had been the only dreams. His long sleep - what day was it, anyways? - had been broken by horrible dreams. Dreams about this town, and this exact moment. He shuddered, remembering the horror of his past lives, and pushed them from his memory. Upon his arrival downstairs, his servants brought the morning mail to him. To his great surprise, two commoners had sent him messages. The first was from the crazy cat lady. Senn, of course, couldn't be bothered to remember the name of anyone that the Lord Ruler had created to be lesser, and in normal times, he wouldn't give any attention to their opinions, either. But in this unsettled moment, even the opinion of a commoner could turn Tyrian Falls against him. Running from an angry mob would not be a pleasant experience, and it wouldn't do any good for him to flee the town just to run into the waiting arms of the koloss. So, as annoying as he found it, he called a servant over. "Rolan, take a note, please." To the crazy, drunk, cat lady: My servants tell me that you are making wild accusations about me, to wit, that you charge me with a treasonous lack of activity in regards to the impending koloss threat, and the new murders in town. I must ask you to cease and desist. As will become clear, I am intimately involved in the search for the agents attempting to give our town over to Ruin. Continued accusations along these lines could have unpleasant ramifications. It galled him to be polite to a skaa, but that was the new world. The slightly veiled threat would have been more than enough to silence one of the creatures before the Lord Ruler had been overthrown. After cursory examination, he tossed the second skaa accusation aside. It appeared to be nothing more than random gibberish. Not even worth paying attention to. All that was left now was to examine the other events that had occurred since he had fallen asleep. After some reflection, he directed Rolan to post a flyer in the town square denouncing Reginald (Dalinar). The man had certainly drawn a great deal of attention, and the allegations of influencing the vote and his dramatic escape from an alleged assassin the night before hinted at secretive connections to a resourceful set of people. While it was certainly possible that such a group had the best interests of the town at heart, his personal experience as a servant of the dark god had taught him that shadows like that were the best place for such agents to hide. Best to drag everything into the light.- 1403 replies

LG29: Finale The air in Silverlight crackled with tension. The witchhunt for Hoid had been going on for too long, and the strain was showing in the eyes of everyone there. Khrissala had opened the doors for the first time since the ill-fated celebration, and the Hall of Justice was in session. “First of the Game,” she said in her implacable voice. “You stand charged with aiding and abetting the terrorist organization known as the 17th Shard. How do you plead?” First’s voice trembled a little. “Not guilty, your honor.” “Then let the prosecution bring it’s case forward.” The trial was brief. The emissary of Mandos brought forward convincing evidence that the accused held a Shard, stolen from one of the Sixteen - probably murdered. The only organization known to be pursuing Shards was the followers of the Wanderer. The Shard was almost certainly Dominion, known to have forcibly directed the power of Odium at Lorna. It was almost a formality. With the tension among the worldhoppers, even the formality of a trial was no protection. If the Hall of Justice had found him innocent, he would have been lynched by a mob. Fear ruled now, and only the thinnest lines stood between order and chaos. As the bailiffs took him away, he screamed out. “You have the wrong person! I follow Autonomy, not Hoid! And I don’t have Dominion!” He began to twist away from their grip, Shardic power shining out of him. “Not today, traitor!” The emissary of Mandos stretched his hand out, and his own Shardic power snapped out of him, blocking First as he tried to escape. Shardblades flashed, and it was over. “Well, that was exciting, wasn’t it?” Mandos’ emissary turned around. “For a last verdict from this court, though, it was a little bit anticlimactic.” Khriss turned towards him, eyes widening in horror. From behind her, Serol walked in. All of his illusions were thrown aside, and his white hair and wizened features were clearly identifiable. Hoid had returned. Behind him came Ralar and Nilan, the power of Endowment, Dominion, and Ruin blazing. The emissary turned, revealing Cultivation’s Shardscythe. Sam Trudite and Aralis slammed the doors shut, trapping the court and assembled worldhoppers inside. The Shard of Honor slowly coalesced from the burnt-out body of First. “Aralis, I believe that that is rightfully yours.” Serol smiled. “And if not, we still need it.” Aralis smiled. “Finally. It’s been a little bit too long.” Khriss turned around again, furious. “You will not get away with this, villain!” Hoid smiled at her. “I already have.” A flash of power from Nilan, and Khrissala, Steward of the Shards in Silverlight, fell to the ground, unconscious. Nilen raised his fist, but Serol stopped him. “We’ll need her knowledge to reassemble Adonalsium. She may not give it willingly, of course, but that doesn’t change the fact that we need it.” He looked out over the assembled worldhoppers. The last of the active Shards he needed were in this room. Finally, he had done it. Finally, he had brought the power together under a single purpose. All that remained was to reassemble God. How hard could that be? First of the Game (Assassin) has been lynched! He was the Vessel of Honor! The game is over. The 17th Shard wins! Survival has also won! Great game, everyone! I enjoyed GMing this one, even if it was quite complicated. It was a much more tense game than it might have looked from the outside. Tune in to my next Long Game to see the next installment in the epic saga of Adonalsium’s renewal! To forestall questions, I have chosen to ignore long-term inactives for purposes of counting outnumbering. Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Senn had again retired to his quarters, where the visions of his past - and what may have been his future - tormented him. Sorry about the lack of RP, y'all. I meant to get to it, but rollover and newborn and class and work and... Well, you get the picture. I've followed the thread, but haven't been able to do any meaningful analysis. Hemalurgic Headshot comes off a little suspicious to me. Normally not enough to put a vote, but I'll do it today. I was going to try and set up some PMs today, but obviously that didn't happen. Oops. I'd respond to Drake Marshall and Bugsy on the subject of D1 lynches, but I don't have time. Short version is this: the discussion that comes from lynches is far more important than the actual lynch itself this early in the game. It's not a huge deal if our first lynch ends up a tie - in fact, there's almost as much information to be gained from that as there is from a bandwagon. Maybe more. The best option is a hard-fought discussion with close results - that gives information on everyone who participated, and even gives information on those that didn't. I'll try to get some more contribution tomorrow. Last note: DO NOT try to guess Meta's role distributions. I'm warning you now. You will get off onto tangents and wrong thinking and it will lead you to make mistakes. He could put in an evil Seeker. He has put in 5 Smokers and a bunch of Vote Manips in the past. He made the Mistborn evil not just once, but twice. He could give them a Coinshot if he wanted. He could make the only Seeker in the game evil. He could put in no Seekers at all, just to mess with us. Do not assume anything. Do not trust your sense of balance. Do not trust common assumptions about how to distribute roles. Meta will beat you at that game. In fact, he already has. Also - every role is potentially useful, and every role is potentially dangerous in the hands of Eliminators. Nobody's cleared unless you are the Seeker and have proved them. Except maybe Wilson. And even that is only maybe. @Nyali, you want to know why you haven't seen a WGG in the time you've been here? It's because Wilson pulled the last one off so successfully that even now we're still paranoid about it. Unless I missed one in the recent past. I'm inclined to believe her about not liking WGGs. But don't believe for a second that that means that she wouldn't do it if she thought she had a chance and it was best for her team.- 1403 replies

LG29: Day 8 - Shattered Dreams Odium watched his prey, quietly, hidden. There was only one reason anyone would come to this unforsaken region of the Cosmere - to lie in wait for some unsuspecting target. In his eyes, he was just returning the favor. A light tap on his shoulder startled him. He brought his Shardic awareness down into his corporeal form, to see a majestic figure towering over him. He readied his power to blast the arrogant fool who had dared interrupt him, and then the vision of greatness spoke. The Lord of Hate listened in rapt attention. When it was finished, he knew what he had to do. *********************************** The broken body of Lorna lay on the floor of the opulent summer home - one of the finest on Sel. Odium looked up from the scene, watching the Shattered remnants of a Shard unleash their raging energies on the Cognitive Realm. “Have I done well, master?” But the majestic visage that had guided him was gone. *********************************** Silence tinkered in his workshop, surrounded by vats of ichor alcohol and a full platoon of Lifeless. He was so absorbed in his work that he hardly noticed when his door exploded. That was unfortunate, he later thought, because it meant that his reaction time wasn’t quite enough. An exploding door would normally be cause for concern - perhaps less so in a laboratory, but perhaps even more so. Generally, doors were not meant to explode, at least in his experience. It took him nearly three seconds to turn and realize that two masked and robed figures had burst into his home. Now, a casual onlooker - he thought - might have noted that two individuals breaking into the home of such a well-guarded individual was implausible. After all, a platoon of Lifeless - armed, of course, with the most powerful gunpowder weapons imported from Taldain and Scadrial - was a fearsome and implacable foe, and all it took was a single word to set them in motion. These were not ordinary Lifeless, either, but infused with Investiture from half-a-dozen Shardworlds. They had even been proven powerful enough to intervene against the full power of a Shard; at least, long enough for the person they had protected to escape. Silence reflected on his surprise when, upon opening his mouth to utter the command word, he had found that the air between his jaws had abruptly solidified. In retrospect, it might not have been the greatest of ideas to put the lynchpin of the entire protective arrangement in the hands of a distractible researcher. But what was a worldhopper to do? Hire someone else to do it for them? He reached for a pencil and paper to jot it down before abruptly remembering that he was now dead. At least, he was pretty sure of it. There had been pain, and agony, and watching his body dissolved by the pure power of entropy. He was pretty sure that death was the next step. Looking down at what had once remained of his body, Silence sighed inaudibly. Then, he moved on through the Cognitive Realm, waiting for whatever came next. Lorna (Alvron) has been killed! His role and alignment will be revealed when he pases to the Spiritual Realm! Silence (Doc12) has been killed! His role and alignment will be revealed when he pases to the Spiritual Realm! The Shard of Autonomy has been Shattered! Day 8 has begun, and will end in about 48 hours. Player List: 1. Assassin in Burgundy - First of the Game 2. Master Elodin - Second of the Signups 3. Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I'm not Meta, but as a member of the Spiked team in the first anniversary game (the one where we killed Araris for not having PMs with us) that faced this exact issue, I can tell you that in that case, Meta accepted the most recently put in kill order. Anniversary Game 3: The Curse of the Koloss
Seonid replied to Metacognition's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Aww, Hero - I was looking forward to RPing a party at my Manor... Senn Conrad woke up. For once, it wasn't the middle of the night - he had finally managed to get a good night's sleep. For months - nearly two years, if he were to be honest with himself (a difficult feat in the best of times) - his sleep had been plagued by dreams. Nightmares. Visions. Something, at any rate. A night without such disturbances was not only unusual, it was most welcome. He was dressed and halfway down the stairs before he realized what this meant. The dreams had stopped. They had stopped before, once. That meant... It was happening again. Senn Conrad ran to the window. A dead body lay there, the rain - just now beginning to fall - washing blood from the open wound in his chest. Even from this distance, he knew what that meant. Bindpoint on the heart. Metal pierced through skin and and blood and heart and life and will. The Koloss were coming again. And the Spiked were already here. Running into his courtyard, he began screaming at the now-pouring sky. "I will not be your slave again!" Two years ago, in this very town - almost in this very spot, he had been a servant of the Dark God Ruin. The Spike in his soul had granted him power. And for that power, he had done terrible things. Unspeakable things. The blood had run like a river through his fingers, and the skulls had been piled like a throne. And for all of his pain and troubles, his loyalty and service, his blood and sweat and tears and fear and... For everything - he had given his life, his soul for his God. And his God had murdered him. A year ago, he had relived that betrayal - the Koloss had come again to Tyrian Falls. He had not realized what that meant until it was too late - his memories had been patchy and foggy, and it was not until the last moments of his life that he had realized that he was reliving it. By then, the servants of Ruin were busy Spiking his life away. His God had thought him so insignificant as to be brushed away by a fly - not even chosen again to destroy this city. And now? Now he was certain that he was well and truly cursed. He had woken up again from his death, bleary and with memories of a normal day, as if it hadn't happened. It had been the dreams that made him remember. Remember that this had all happened before. And it was happening again. But this time, the Dark God would face something he didn't expect. This time, Senn Conrad knew himself and his opponent. And this time, the God that murdered him would find his former servant to be a knife in his innards. By all that was holy - though Senn was not sure that there was anything holy left in this hellish landscape of ash, fire, and darkness - he would not rest until the servants of the God of Ruin were hunted down. Or until he was dead, to await the cycle again.- 1403 replies

LG29: Night 7 - Beloved It is a well known fact that a mob, once born, has an intelligence and lust all its own. The most intelligent and articulate individuals in the Cosmere can - under the influence of highly-charged emotions and in the company of fellow-charged beings - become crazed and bloodthirsty. Many will feel remorse in the morning - many will even be horrified. But still - mob violence brings out the darkness in every human being. The worldhoppers of the Cosmere were no difference. The chanting was by now a familiar sound, as the crowd worked up the passion that would light it on fire with hatred. Serol heard them from his home - they weren’t far off. It wasn’t too difficult to determine who they would be coming for next. Flashes of lights in the distance indicated torches - it wouldn’t be long now. He walked through the hallway of his modest house, making his final preparations. It was a pity, in a way. He had such grand plans - such world-shattering plans. If only he had time to bring them to fruition. The shouting from the mob grew louder. They were approaching the house. Serol began to grow frantic as he looked for any last overlooked preparation. Anything that might give him a chance of surviving the day. Unexpected, unlooked for, the word whispered in the wind. Beloved. In shock, Serol stopped, listening. Beloved. A cursory search revealed no source of the voice. But there it was. Beloved. Fear not. In a moment of sudden realization, Serol cried out for joy. The mob was coming up the drive now, shouting their angry slogans and brandishing their torches and weapons. Serol opened his door and went out to meet them, and the power of Devotion shone behind him. Nobody was lynched! Desten Kyde (Kynedath) has passed to the Spiritual Realm. He was a Mistborn! Night 7 has begun, and will end in about 23 hours. Long Game 28: The Awakening at the House on the Hill
Seonid replied to Wyrmhero's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Thanks for the game, Wyrm! Your writeups were amazing. I wish we could have had a more active player base, but it was still very fun regardless. Also Elb, you had me fooled. Well done.- 980 replies

Rules Clarifications: An ability granted or powered by a passable item (such as a Shard or a charge of stolen investiture) can be used on the round it is passed if: 1 - the ability occurs before or concurrently with passing the item in the OoA, and 2 - the player has put in an order that would use such an item An ability granted or powered by a passable or grantable item (such as a charge of stolen investiture, a Shard, or the items granted by Cultivation's or a Returned's ability) can be used on the turn that the player receives an item if: 1 - the ability occurs after passing/granting the item in the Order of Actions (hereafter referred to as OoA), and 2 - the player has already put in an order that would use such an item This one's an old one, but I forgot to put it out here: Dominion cannot force another player to pass a Shard.
