  5. This I agree with. Chemically speaking it shouldn't matter where the metals came from they should have the same atomic structure wherever one is. The only reason I could see this not working if the metals on Scadrial were changed slightly by Preservation to make them burnable. Since shape is important the pure metals like tin should be the same, and the alloys should have the same ratio of metals as well. Unless of course there was intervention on the Shards behalf. If that's the case then taking your own metals with you before you Worldhop would be pretty easy to do, as mentioned previously you don't use much at a time. And if you were leaving your world for whatever reason I imagine you would take metals with you anyway, just in case. A problem with this though would be running out over time, bring us back to the can-other-worlds-metals-work-for-Allomancy-too question.

  11. And on the note of death being cheap in WOR, only Szeth died. We never got confirmation on Jasnah and Gaz's deaths since we never saw a body. As far as we know neither actually died it was just heavily implied they did. So they at least are consistent with the rules.
  12. Is there a reason the hardcover is not available in the store anymore? I was waiting to be paid and will be really sad if I've missed out on having a physical copy since I don't have a kindle or anything.
  13. And on the note of Divine Breath, IIRC in Daliner's visions before Honours death there was no Stormlight in the villages he visited. He noted their use of oil lamps and called it primitive. Does that imply there was no stormlight during the Desolations or were there just no ways to capture it then? If the former could Stormlight be where Honour's power went, similar to Divine Breath, put there by either Honour himself or by the Stormfather. Since to become a Sliver he needs to have held the power and given it up it could be that after Honour died he took up the power and dropped it in the Highstorms as a way to protect it. It could account for the magical aspect of the Highstorms.
  14. And as WoB stated, there are several orders that wouldn't have a problem with what Adolin did to Sadeas. So it's not too much of a stretch to assume that there would be orders ok with assassins.
  15. I can't wait to see what you thought of the end of part 3, cause that was the point I was done with the book and had to skip ahead to make sure it was ok. At the time my reaction was similar but with hindsight I felt a lot of schadenfreude listening to these reactions. Especially when you mentioned how much you like Tyn right before the twist. XD
  16. Well on Roshar, if they are male, if they want to collect information the best disguise would be an Ardent since beside the woman they are the only ones who can read, write, draw, and do those 'girly things'. And no one seems to look twice if they see an Ardent doing something odd, so it really would be the best disguise. That doesn't explain Vasher/Zahel entirely but maybe he just feels like he needs to atone for his past mistakes.
  17. If it is true I think it would be a side effect like that of the Ardents mentioned above. If Surgebinders do have gemhearts I think it would be something that develops over time as they use and hold more and more stormlight than anything they are born with. I can't imagine the side effects of using stormlight being as sever with the Surgebinders as it is with those who aren't bonded to a spren, that is the Nahel bond might diminish the side effects and maybe channels them into a more useful form. We have seen the side effects of using too much of a Shard's power, (Hero of Ages spoiler) Detrimental side effects can happen but I imagine the sprens interference might offset them somewhat. In one way or another. Growing a gemheart might be that offset.
  18. She definitely changed the ship to water. Pg 120 of the Gollance Australian edition, right at the end of chapter 7. I think the ship choose to change into water over blood because, for a ship, water is a more natural essence than blood is. I'm speculating here but blood might be easier for humans because it's more natural for them, but Shallan had to plead, beg, and convince the ship to change so it probably had a major say about what it would change too. Shallan wasn't in a position to be picky about the form the ship took either.
  19. Ah, thank-you! I wonder if there being three planets is intentional. I know 16 and 10 are important numbers in the Cosmere (16 especially so) but 3 has popped up a couple of times too. Though where I can't quite remember now.
  20. Wait, what planet is this? We've heard something about planets not from the books published? Where? When? Is this from one of the sample chapter of the unreleased books or something? And that is interesting, I knew all the Cosmere planets were from the same universe but I never considered they'd be a part of the same system. The third Mistborn Trilogy is going to be super fun. ^^
  21. There is also this quote from the start of Zahel's interlude. This seems to be a reference to the life sense everyone on Nalthis has, the one that makes them insanely aware of when people are watching or approaching them. Since he answers the door before Kaladin has a chance to knock it's safe to say he has a high heightening. He also refers to the storms as 'invested' things, so besides the WoP there are plenty of hint in text. As an aside, I love how grumpy he is and the interactions between him and the also grumpy Kaladin are great. And I want him to get Nightblood back, he may have complained a lot about him but he clearly misses him.
  22. This does have merit, especially as according to WoB the Highstorms have both meteorological and supernatural components to them. This could account for where the Stormfather came from since a part of the Stormfather seems to come from the interactions with the Cognitive Realm.
  23. And we shouldn't forget that Daliner did marry someone else as well, I think it was implied (or stated) that it was after Navani went after Gavilar but that does introduce a forth element to that relationship. And to further the parallel there is the mysterious Tarah from Kaladin's past who might have a bigger role to play later on if the parallel continues. Though I agree with Konn, Shallan (or one of the boys) might take the third option and take the love triangle in a completely different direction. And there is always friendship, if two of the parties agree in the end that that's the level of attraction they feel for one another. And Shadoladin would be a very different diviation from the norm. Adolin and Kaladin did have a wonderful hatemance going on so if anything the resulting snark would be wonderful.
  24. I am impressed at your attempts at pronouncing the Horneater names! And linguistics is indeed awesome. The boots interaction was amazing, as was the follow up later on. Poor Kaladin. XD
  25. Or the Everstorm catches up to him in another place before he reaches it. But if he does make it I somehow feel that his family reunion will not be a happy one, not initially. Although IIRC Lirin was going to be happy with whatever choice Kaladin made (or maybe that was his Mother) and Kaladin's reasons for joining the army were noble. So maybe he or Hesina has died due to poor living conditions or the war. On the other hand maybe the combination of Kaladin not returning and the news of Tien's death broke Lirin to the point where when Kaladin returns he won't trust him. And since he is now a Lighteyes maybe Lirin won't believe it's actually Kaladin or that he now has no sons since they both 'died.' Actually maybe when Amaram sent Kaladin into slavery word was sent to Hearthstone that Kaladin died too. Either way I predict that this won't end well. Oh, or maybe Kaladin doesn't get to the town in time because he was trying to protect others on the way and while doing so Hearthstone gets destroyed in the Everstorm.
