Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods
Bort replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Oh, Wyrm, I forgot to answer your original post. You wondered why I would vote for Jain, then tell Phattemer that he was inactive due to being ill? Well, I still believe he is ill and inactive, and not lurking, but he had said he was going to try to be on more, so I poked him in the hopes that he would respond. I didn't think he should be lynched though, as killing someone for being ill just seems a little harsh. *************************************** Luma hovered, invisible, in front of a petitioner's face, admiring his beard. He had just finished speaking, presenting his petition for his daughter to be saved, and for Bortholemew to die for her. This was, the midget decided, the worst part about being Returned. Every day people came to ask you to die for them, and nearly all of them were asking for petty, selfish reasons. Even the death of this poor man's daughter was insignificant on a Cosmere scale. Still, while he couldn't give up his Breath, Bortholemew did have something that might be able to help. He plucked a single strand of hair from his beard, then gestured to Haribo. The high priest accepted the hair, and moved towards the petitioner, presenting him with this gift from his God, and giving instructions for him to tie it about his daughter's wrist. It would give her strength, to help her fight her illness, but it was not the guaranteed cure that Bortholemew's death would ensure. Petitions over for the day, the bearded one stepped into the room behind his petition chamber. The painting was sitting on a pedestal in the centre of the room. "It's time," he said.. Luma, now nestling back into Bortholemew's beard, poked her head out. "Are you sure you're strong enough, Bortholemew?" she asked. "You did give away quite a bit of your beard today." "We need to get this back to the Awkwardmother," the beardomancer told his spren. "Things are coming to a head here, and I don't know if I'll make it. These Rebels are fiends. They've had us all snapping at each other, and even had quite a few of us killed, yet we are no closer to finding them than we were when we got here. No. This goes today." "Very well," his beardpren replied. She dove back into the beard, disappearing from view. Standing with his arms crossed, Bortholemew thrust out his chin. If he wasn't so short, it would be quite an imposing sight. His beard grew. Luma slipped out of it and came to sit on his shoulder, and his beard continued to grow. The magnificent white facial fur worked its way across the floor, closer and closer to the painting. When it reached the easel the painting stood on, the beard split into three parts. Each part took one of the legs of the easel, and started moving up it. Bortholemew, meanwhile, was looking a bit red in the face and sweating. Luma hovered nearby looking worried. The beard continued to grow, expanding up the legs of the easel, and across the painting itself. By the time it had engulfed the painting, Bortholemew was panting, and heaving breaths in and out, ironic considering he was supposed to be dead already. Suddenly, the beard shrank back down to it's regular size, and the painting was gone, safely delivered to the Knights Awkward library.- 271 replies

I'm shifting my vote from Vauhsoj to Orlok. Pretty much every time Orlok has been poked, he has responded with 'Sorry I've been inactive...' and given an excuse, as well as some comment about catching up, but we've yet to see it.- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods

I say we give Adamir the benefit of the doubt. For this cycle at least. The rollover for this game is at an odd time (usually ran to US times), so I can see how he may miss it. Also, his post kinda gave the impression that he possibly wouldn't be back, so I say we wait and see what happens. If he is still alive next cycle, we can lynch him then. So it turns out Phattemer was innocent. I can't decide if I'm surprised by that or not. It looked like an Eliminator tactic to sow discontent, but when everyone is discussing the same stuff, and that being our main source of information, I can understand how connections could be seen between players. I have no idea who I'm going to vote for this cycle. For now I'll go with Vauhsoj. He's only voted once (that has counted at least), and that turned out to be the deciding vote that got Smart lynched, and saved Lopen and Phattemer from being randomly rolled for the lynch. The rest of the time, he has been skirting through. Edit: Forgot to colour my vote.- 271 replies

Got to the cinema to see Ant Man last night. It was really good. Funny, the action sequences were great, and the ants were awesome. Two things I think let it down slightly though...

With the whole 'something's off' argument, sometimes it's difficult to put that kind of thing into words. I know I've tried to do so in previous games, but have just ended up sounding like a moron. As for Orlok, you are right, you did vote for him, which is what I was thinking about at the time I said that.- 271 replies

I'm still not with you, Phatt. You seem to imply I'm connected to Wyrm and Vauhsoj, but I don't see where. Because both Wyrm and I had suspicions about the same person (Orlok)? So did other people, but I don't see you trying to call them Eliminators. And what about Vauhsoj? Ah, that must be the RP posts - I do RP, and he does RP. That's the only possible connection I can think of between us. Well, that and I did poke vote him on cycle one (I still think he should be lynched for inflicting those colours on us by the way). So what about everyone else then? I'm pretty sure other people have done all of these things. What made you accuse me from all that? The second line I left in the quote seems a bit hypocritical. Wyrm gives no evidence for you being an Eliminator. You give no evidence for any of the names you've pointed at either, so why is it worse for Wyrm to do that to you when you don't do that for anyone else? Other than your flawed belief that I'm an Eliminator (not speaking for Wyrm or Vauhsoj), I can't really argue with your analysis on the remaining players, although I do have a question. You said Vauhsoj was 'surprisingly inactive'. Isn't this his first game? How would you know if his levels of inactivity are surprising or not? Is he more active in the Eliminator doc? Also, Jain said he was ill in one of his few posts, so I'm willing to guess that is why he hasn't been on. Unlike some people, I haven't seen him lurking in the thread, so it looks like he really hasn't been on, as opposed to just not posting to try to hide. Edit: Adamir, you wanted names... Bort (obviously), Raven, and Jerric.- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods
Bort replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
Bortholemew the Blind sighed in relief, a sound that was echoed in a tiny female voice from his beard. "Thank you, Ri. With your help, the Knights Awkward may once again wield the long lost Shardmarks." He offered the other God a plate piled high with beardnuts, the speciality that Bortholemew brought into the Knights Radiant when he joined oh so long ago. I'm not so sure who to vote for this cycle. I'm tempted to say Phattemer again, or even Ven for the way he has been voting, but not giving any form of reasoning, but he is dead. For want of a better suspicion, Jain, your last post said you were feeling a little better and would be trying to contribute (or something like that). Are you still ill, or are you just not paying attention? Edit: Raven, if either of us survive to the end of the game, we can put together an RP post then, to reveal the clue to the Shardmarks, possibly in the final write up.- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods

"This way please, My Lord." The tall priest wearing Bortholemew's white and grey led Ri the Mysterious into the midget's audience room, where he was sitting waiting in a comfortable looking seat. A second chair had been pulled up beside the first, allowing the visitor God to sit beside the bearded one. Upon seeing his guest, Bortholemew called out, "Haribo, bring us wine, two glasses, and the tray of beardnuts I made," then he beckoned Ri to come and join him. The exchanged pleasantries while the food and drink was served, then once it had been, Bortholemew dismissed all of his servants, including Haribo, allowing the Knights Awkward to talk in peace. "I am here, Ri, on a quest to find the fabled Shardmarks of old," Bortholemew told the other Knight. "There are clues to the whereabouts of the Shards scattered throughout the Cosmere, and here, on Hallandren, this is the closest I've come to finding the clue before something happened to send me back home. Shardblade, avalanche, painful ways to die, but I'm used to it by now." Bortholemew's beard reached around behind the chair he was sat on, and brought forth a painting. "This is one of the paintings I was asked to interpret. If you look carefully, you'll see the clock, the window, and that spear there, they all match up with the clocktower in our Library. I'm trying to find the painter, but Haribo tells me it may take some time. Should something happen to me before then, I will leave instructions for him to bring the painter to you. You must question him about the painting, and if needs be, get him home to see the Awkwardmother. I'm sending her the painting tonight." The bearded midget and his beardspren looked at Ri with serious eyes and drooping eyebrows and said, "Can I count on you?"- 271 replies

Don't ask me. Ask the people trying to lynch him If you are planning on leaving your vote on me though, I should probably get some more RP out, to get Raven involved in Bortholemew's quest, then even if others join your vote for me, and I do die, there is still a chance the quest can move forward. Hopefully I can do so before the end of the cycle. Phattemer. I might change it back, but for now, I'll remove my vote from you.- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods

Orlok. Thanks for replying. Phattemer. I can't quite work out how you leaped to all of those conclusions. My pointless day one vote goes on someone for a laugh, because they went with pink and yellow for their colours, and I can only imagine how bad that would clash. I poked Wyrm to find out why he thought Meta would say if one of them was innocent, the other would be guilty. He replied so I removed my vote and shifted it to someone else I wanted answers from. Also, I recommend going back and rereading the post where I 'accuse' Smart and Jerric of working together. I quite clearly state 'This is probably a coincidence'. It was just something I had noticed from my frequent visits to the thread. Even so, my vote for Jerric would have still stood, even without the tenuous (and probably coincidental) connection with Smart, just for the amount of lurking he was doing. 'Defending' my theory of tag team Eliminators, I'd say is way too strong a word. Again, if you go back and reread my post, you might notice that I'm not defending anything. I simply explain to Jerric a few reasons why Eliminators might find it useful to plot who is in the thread and when. It is simply another source of information to be analysed and used, much in the same way I stick around to see who is lurking. You're right about the RP. I have been doing more RP than usual, but only because I think it will be funny to explore how a crotchety old midget will deal with the Court of the Gods, and the expectations the people have on them. That, plus I wanted another chance to move forward Bortholemew's self-imposed quest. So, are you trying to cast suspicion on me by deliberately misreading my posts, as it looks from here, or did you just misread them?- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods

Bortholemew the Blind smiled. His first genuine smile since he had arrived here and found himself Returned. He had no idea why Endowment had 'blessed' him with a fragment of his power, but he planned to take advantage of it. Now, he had reached out to a brother in arms and together, they may finally return to the Library they called home with a clue to the locations of the Shardmarks. "Homewards, Haribo," Bortholemew declared to his high priest. "We are hosting a fellow Knight Awkward tonight, so I must bake some beardnuts." His high priest, wearing Bortholemew's colours of white and grey, looked at his God as though wondering if the tiny deity had lost his mind. "Now, now," said the feminine voice of Luma, her face looking out of Bortholemew's beard at him, "you really shouldn't look at your God like that. Homewards," she finished imperiously, pointing with one tiny digit, before disappearing back into the folds of Bortholemew's luxurious white chin mane. Bortholemew the Blind turned and walked off, heading out of one of the gates that led towards his palace. He wanted to have another look at that painting before he sent it off. Just a note: Raven, this has nothing to do with the game, it's a purely RP quest I set for Bortholemew several games ago. I trust you to be a Knight Awkward, but not to be a regular Returned- 271 replies

Congratulations Quiver -
Spook, Breeze, Allrianne, Ham and Marsh survived anyways. The bodies of Vin and Elend were left for Spook to find. Kelsier's bones were probably lost, as they were buried somewhere in Luthadel, so I suppose it could be possible that someone might dig them up somewhere in the middle of Terris. Clubs and Tindwyl were definitely lost though.

Ok, thanks for coming back to that Jerric, and agreed. The Eliminators seem to be picking off the more active players so far. No doubt to try to stifle conversation, so all they end up having to do is clear up the inactives. I think you should have probably said 'villager count' as opposed to 'villager body count'. Just about every other place I've heard the term body count it has referred to a pile of not-quite-living people. I'll admit, I am also curious about Alvron. He is usually more active than this. I'll not vote for him though, not yet at least, since I don't want to be accused of trying to start an early bandwagon. On a similar note though, I am also curious about Orlok. He is another who is usually more active than he has been. Edit 1: Been meaning to mention this for the past two cycles, but we once again have our permanent guest lurker... Welcome to Hotel Hallandren, guest. Edit 2: Bortholemew the Blind walked through the Court of the Gods, looking about him as he did so. He was close. Closer than he had ever been since joining the Knights Awkward. Now if only he could guarantee he would survive until this braized rebellion was ended. Ri the Mysterious passed him, walking the other way, and for a moment, Bortholemew watched the taller Returned. Then his beard dropped an inch, as Bortholemew's mouth fell open. He turned and hurried after Ri, quickly catching up to the other God, who was strolling along in a rather stately fashion. "Ri," Bortholemew's eyebrows dipped as he nodded a greeting. "I need to talk with you. Come to my palace once the voting is done for the day." While the taller God looked on askance at the bearded midget who dared to interrupt his walk, the midget in question rolled his eyes, and whispered something low enough for only Ri to hear. "Books before friends. 17th Shard before the real world. Release dates before birthdays. The Knights Awkward need your help."- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods
Bort replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
I was hoping I could get this finished and out this cycle. It's nothing important, just a spot of RP. Bortholemew the Blind waited, muttering under his breath. His high priest quickly finished scribing, then picked up the footstool and moved it to the floor in front of the next painting. The midget's beard reached out and grabbed the stool, twisting and moving until Bortholemew stood on it, frowning thoughtfully at the image displayed on the canvas. His long eyebrows stretched forward like antennae, almost brushing the painting. It was an abstract scene, one of Hallandren's main plazas, quite well detailed, yet everything in the painting was fuzzy, as though not quite in focus. This was the fourth painting today for Bortholemew to interpret. Unfortunately, being supposedly blind did not get one out of one's divine duties. The midget stared at the painting for another minute or so, then took a breath to make something up. To him, it was a street in the city, a patch of grass and a few of Kalad's Phantoms. Fortunately, his beardspren, Luma, had better eyesight. She tugged on a strand of his beard and pointed, her translucent hand coming out of the beard itself. "Bortholemew, look," she said. "What?" the beardomancer asked, still oblivious to what she was seeing. "Here," his beard extended out into a small platform by the painting, then it opened up and a small female figure rose up and out of the beard. She pointed again. "The Phantom's spear, the clock, and that window." With someone pointing it out, the resemblance was uncanny. "It's... the clock tower," Bortholemew said, sounding a little unnerved. "Looking Southwest," confirmed Luma. Bortholemew the blind spun, nearly falling off the stool he was stood on. "Haribo!" His high priest, already stood beside him, looked up from the scroll he was scribing Bortholemew's words onto. "Yes, my Lord?" "Find the person who painted this," the midget demanded. "I must speak with them." "But, My Lord, surely I can arrange for a message..." Haribo was cut off mid-sentence by a small glowing figure slapping him with a length of beard. "You dare disobey your God?" Luma asked, sounding and looking furious. "No, of course not. I'll find the painter immediately, My Lord," Haribo walked away from Bortholemew as the midget shook his head. "You know, Luma, sometimes you can be far too mean. Do you think this is it? Is this the clue we are here to find?" "It's too much of a coincidence to be anything else, Bortholemew," the beardspren replied, as his beard slowly and gently writhed back into it's usual place. "We need to check it out." The midget nodded, his massive eyebrows swaying gently, as though caught in the breeze. He waved over his other priests. "Remove them, but keep this one," Bortholemew commanded. "Bring it to my chambers." Beardomancy was a powerful art, he could use it to send this painting back to the Awkwardmother.- 271 replies

Quick Fix Game 9: The Court of The Gods
Bort replied to Gamma Fiend's topic in Sanderson Elimination
It was more of a poke to see what you'd post than any real accusation. Like I said in the "accusing" post, your timing was most likely coincidence. That said, you do agree that the only way forward in this game is to analyze the posts made, so in that case, why did you wait until someone poked you before posting? I find this more suspicious than your timing with A Smart Guy. As for what an Eliminator could gain by lurking in the thread, they get to build up time frames for when players are commonly on ("Sir Jerric should now be in bed and won't be back until after the rollover. Let's see if we can get a bandwagon started on him," for example). You said yourself that three people have said when they are on or not, but that is only maybe a fifth of the players the Eliminators would have to dispose of. Plus, any relevant comments that are made, if someone is lurking in the thread, they can quickly move those comments into the Eliminator doc to begin discussion, which in turn gives them more time for planning. In a game where there are no roles besides innocent and guilty, any source of information or time is valuable. So, for now I'm leaving my vote where it is. It may be you've not played a game like this before, or it may be that you are trying to cover up the obvious. With only one vote on you, you won't be lynched, but I haven't seen enough from you to think you are innocent.- 271 replies
