  1. I had this same thought. I'm really wondering what metal Harmony would choose. I don't think they ever mentioned what material they were. It seems unlikely that Wax would really want to use that power. The end of SoS makes that very unlikely.
  2. Question fueled by the events surrounding Shadows of Self, and the theories involving Odium. I'm mainly trying to see what we can gain by re-evaluating our theories on why Adonalsium was shattered and what other assumptions we can make. Any questions I ask in the below writing, are actually questions I am asking you guys. In all mentions of Adonalsium, Brandon has avoided to give any information on why Adonalsium was shattered. All that is said is that it was intentional. Something opposed Adonalsium, and it created a weapon. He did not say that weapon was used to shatter Adonalsium, simply that the opposing force created it. What exactly could be a weapon against something like Adonalsium? I have a hard time believing any sort of external force shattered Adonalsium. It seems entirely more likely that Adonalsium willingly shattered itself to avoid an obstacle. (The weapon that was created by the opposing force?) Odium similarly knows how to destroy a shard. Probably from Rayse's knowledge before the events of the shattering of Adonalsium. If the other 15 people do not know how Odium splinters shards, then are they also unaware of how Adonalsium shattered? How? Why? Does their own shards intents simply disable them from utilizing that knowledge? When Vin with Preservation's Power destroyed Ruin, it left both shards behind. We can assume that all that was accomplished there was the destruction of Ruin's mind. Something not possible by Leras before due to the effects of a shard's intent. Sazed even talks about how the powers of Harmony do not let him act. If you destroy the mind of Ruin, someone else can take his place. So how do you accomplish the opposite? Destroying a Shard's power before destroying the mind? All examples we have point to the Shard's Mind willingly destroying itself, or splintering itself. Preservation does something like this almost in an echo to Adonalsium doing it. (Although Adonalsium would have shattered not just his power). He gave more of his power away, and it was later used to accomplish something he was unable too. Odium, when destroying other shards, would travel to their worlds and endeavor to splinter them. Bleeder was opposed to Harmony. In her actions, she attempted to get the people of Elendel to hate or at least oppose Harmony. First of all, what being even remotely is aware of how to oppose a Shard? The only one we know of is Odium. If you didn't have that knowledge, would you take the actions that Bleeder did? What Bleeder accomplished was extremely well planned. It took time and complex actions to create the sort of Chaos in an almost perfect world. Knowing Harmony was using Kandra, towards the end of Shadows of Self, Bleeder started getting people to attack those Kandra. They are essentially immortal, but it does have an impact on Harmony. The only benefit to Bleeder (Against Harmony) is to attack Harmony. (Edit: In retrospect, this is a weak point. Bleeder would oppose those Kandra simply because they opposed her. Regardless of Harmony's involvement.) This is where its purely speculation. My own opinion is that Bleeder, fueled by small pieces of Odium and perhaps Autonomy, was attempting to get Harmony to splinter himself by destroying what he created. Put Elendel in such a bad situation, of pure chaos, that he had to break off part of his power to assist. Or at the very least, start the chain of events that would enable them to destroy Harmony. Bleeder attacked exactly what Sazed/Harmony would try to protect the most. Elendel and its people. Bleeder knew how to hide from the power of a God/Shard. That small piece of metal would be a very small amount of Odium or Autonomy. The reason we assume Autonomy is because Bleeder often spoke of Freedom. It's almost too obvious. We can't really use that as a sole reason to suspect Autonomy. Odium is equally capable of convincing Bleeder using that as a reason or motive. Or Odium used the power of Autonomy (Thus not using any of his own) to fuel a small attack on Harmony. Either of these powers could accomplish what Bleeder did alone, or together. Without more information we can mostly guess. But Odium is crafty. Rayse was described as "among the most loathsome, crafty, and dangerous individuals I had ever met". That isn't me describing my high school bully. That's presumably Hoid, who existed before the shattering of Adonalsium, describing someone that way. And it seems like a type of misdirection that Brandon would use. Bleeder speaking of Freedom, sounding like Autonomy.
  3. I don't think we can rule out Automony or Odium. Mostly due to our lack of knowledge. We know very little of Automony/Bavadin. Odium and Autonomy have worked together in the past. They could have cooperated to try and get rid of Harmony. But Bleeder seems like a very pathetic attempt for the likes of Rayse. Unless it wasn't a real attempt, and simply testing Harmony to see what response he would have. (Much like Straff testing the walls of Luthadel). But too much of this will be influenced by Books 3 4 and 5 of Stormlight. If Bleeder WAS an attempt to destroy Harmony, we known from WoB that a Splinter must be created actively by a shard. Or at least that is how its worded here. Wouldn't this mean Odium has to get Shards to splinter themselves? Bleeder attempting to destroy what Harmony created might have required action from Harmony. Its speculation, and I haven't read up on theories of how a shard is destroyed, but it seems very Brandon-esque to require the willingness of the shard itself. Knowing how Odium destroys shards is key to trying to predict how he would, if he would, influence Harmony. WoB said he's scared of Harmony. But why? He has the power of two shards? That can't be. He's gone up against multiple shards and won. Or is it the intent of Harmony itself? Theoretically If Shattering was a shard's intent, then Harmony would probably be one of the few intents that oppose it. What Odium is trying to do, be the only shard left, is opposed by the concept of Balance.
  4. Fair enough, but Devotion not be the exact literary opposite of Odium, but on that Planet, Devotion opposes Odium. You know, as far as human personalities who ascend to god-hood can be diametrically opposed.
  5. harmony is also vastly unique, because he grew up and lived on the planet he is currently the God of. That gives him a very different perspective.
  6. Devotion/Love, is opposite of "widespread hatred/disgust". You have a different interpretation?
  7. This has to make sense to me. Given that Mistborn Trilogy #2 is dated between Stormlight #5 and #6, the events of Stormlight Archive #5 might impact it. We know a lot about Odium, and he definitely has motive against Harmony. The real question here is what does Automony stand to gain by helping destroy Harmony? Second question, would Automony use part of his mind combined with part of Odium's power to create the effects on Bleeder? Or the reverse? With Odium being aware of how powerful Harmony is, I don't think he'd sacrifice much of his mind/power. (The two resources Gods have). Or maybe the risk is worth the gain. Having a piece of metal thats fueled by a desire of Freedom and Hatred laying about Scadrial is almost a ticking timebomb. What if that piece of metal was inserted into Marsh?
  8. I'm really liking the theory that the Knights Radiant abandoned their oaths much like the Heralds abandoned the Oathpact. Its a bit of a moral grey area, something I think Sanderson likes. Honor's spren is strongly against creating more nahel bonds, but Odium returning is inevitable. Something the few Spren have accepted. (Especially with the honorblades potentially in the hands of people like Szeth) Instead of lasting for a few more thousand years, they decide that humanity has to fight. Even if its a small change, its better to die out fighting than whimpering in fear. And given that Rayse is trapped in the solar system, his focus can't stray away from Roshar forever. Also, in this post, RShara talks about -This might be why the oaths hold they way they do in the Nahel bond. Each order has its own goals, and certain paths along the way (Kaladin killing Amaram) it would allow them to be manipulated by Odium. The oaths are a safeguard against Odium, while obtaining certain goals.
  9. We have yet to find out if the Heralds had powers other than immortality+honorblades. I mean, I don't really think it matters if there is only one Bondsmith is in Urithiru. My only point is that the one bondsmith we do know wielded a blade named Oathbringer. It seems a little clever.
  10. I think that if we stick with the 10 KR per order, and if Dalinar can unite all 10 KR, they can reforge the Oathpact. I'm not sure why the heralds vanished between desolations, and that might block my above theory, but I find the "Only one per order" very interesting. The previous oathpact they were given blades in exchange for leading mankind, but the blades are not really necessary now. Perhaps a new oathpact will be made? I mean, Dalinar is a Bondsmith, who's shardblade WAS named "Oathbringer". It would be a little bit of foreshadowing.
  11. Kaellok, what if Honor's spren can appoint a champion? He seemed to have a small amount of abilities still.
  12. That would be a pretty awesome scene Kari. Also, really good points above. Once Shallan learns that Jasnah has the Transportation surge, she probably will figure it she might be alive. I'm actually super interested in if the Elsecallers had a purpose, like the Skybreakers or Windrunners. Have we figured out where Shardplate comes from?
  13. I mean, I don't think its proven that "others" can, I think it was proven that she chose wisely with Shallan...
  14. So, its obvious that Jasnah will come to Shallan and they will meet in Book 3. One thing I was wondering was...what if it doesnt go over very well? Shallan very quickly took over Jasnah's goals and work that she was planning to do on the shattered plains. If Jasnah comes in and tries to "take over" for Shallan, will shallan just roll over? She seems to be getting quite comfortable with being in charge. We don't quite know how the Elsecallers get along with the Lightweavers, as far as Spren go. Maybe it won't matter, but its worth thinking about. Perhaps it will go over well, as Jasnah will come back with a wealth of information and use that to be superior to Shallan, but if she comes with less information than Shallan, I don't see how she will maintain her "Teacher" type role if she has very little to teach. And we don't know how the whole ghostblood thing will go over with Jasnah either. Its more of a random "What if" than me actually thinking it will happen this way, I dont think Sanderson is going to write their meeting to be negative, I'd be very surprised.
  15. He is enforcing them, but he's using them as a tool to complete his own objectives. I suppose we are at a loss because we are not told to what laws the Skybreakers obey. Set by Honor?
  16. There is one thing that I'm sure was covered here about Nale. Syl stated several times, or at least has inferred the information that anyone with an honorblade is not bound by a spren. To this end, Heralds can use their powers no matter what their end goals are. So if Nale is using honorblades to recruit people, he and his "soldiers" (Szeth) are not bound by any rules whatsoever. Perhaps the Skybreakers have morals, and Nale is simply using their name to reach his goal. The ends justify the means. Even Szeth, who we are believing will be a Skybreaker, is given Nightblood, who we don't entirely understand. Is Nightblood a highspren? If not, then Szeth was given another unique blade that gave him powers. Anyone clarify this for me?
  17. I'd say that the inherent "ability" Skybreakers have would be their resolve. The main attribute that Szeth displayed was his resolve to never, under any circumstance, break the law (As he viewed it). I'm still wondering if Nin/Naln is still against Odium. You can't say he killed KR, because those people simply had abilities. They were no radiants. I'm confused as to what his potential goals might be.
  18. The old magic has to be one of two things. From a shard that was on Roshar before the current 3, or one of the three shards (cultivation) was on Roshar before the other 2. Thats the only thing I can imagine. I believe that Brandon said the shards are not native to Roshar. Someone correct me on that?
  19. I wasn't surprised at all. If we get a love triangle its going to be Kaladin+Adolin+Shallan.
  20. What evidence is there that Nin was world hopping? I don't recall that.
  21. One of the potential story reasons I could say this, is if Vin ever found out why Preservation was killed she would be VERY upset. Upset enough to look further into it. She just seems passionate enough not to let other people solve her problems. Although why would she wear a mask?
  22. Well, hoarder, but it would be smart. He's fighting something extremely powerful, and being to grant yourself or others powers would be extremely beneficial. Seems like more of a tactical move than some random quirk, and It gives Brandon some flexibility.
  23. I was also at the signing, some of his answers were pretty fascinating. He also told someone that "the end of the entire series is already in the first two books, similar to mistborn. But this time, it isn't in the first few pages." Did anyone gather what books are for which characters? Book 1 - Kaladin Book 2 - Shallan Book 3 - Szeth Book 5 - Dalinar Has anyone heard about book 4, or 6-10?
