  1. We know from Syl’s that now is the time Kaladin will be a surgeon. Would it be too obvious if he ends up next to Lirin and keeps having losses and finally accepts he can’t save everyone? Lirin has been telling him that since Roshone’s son in tWoK and maybe that will finally force him to speak the Words. A time of Kaladin losing people in surgery (possibly some friends) might make him accept it.

I also know that Brandon said that Book I is more like the final Book to the time skip, so maybe we won’t have to wait till the end of RoW before he either says the Words or decides he’s happy in his new life.

  2. When I read this, I instantly thought of a spren, but then the logistics of how a spren could sneak it into her flying "room" made me question it.

Not terribly sure about Navani's past, but her learning she had actually caused tons of pain to spren every time she made a fabrial might be the thing that "breaks"  her and allows her to bond a spren. If it ended up being the Sibling, I could see her oath's being something along the lines of "I will unite instead of divide spren" and "I will take responsibility for the pain I have caused and will work towards making it right by finding other solutions."

  3. Most of mine are about Szeth, which is convenient because we should have most answered by the end of Book 5. Not sure how many of these aren't common sense or already out there

    • Szeth was not only important to the Shin, but possibly THE leader of the Shin military which is why he was allowed to train with all the Honorblades and be so fluent in combat
    • Szeth was close to bonding a spren (possibly the one he is now bonded to) which is why he knew the Radiants could return but the Stone Shamans tortured/brainwashed him into believing he had lied and he must be made Truthless
    • The Stone Shamans don't want the Radiants to return because then the Heralds might return also and they would lose the Honorblades, which are the source of their authority and power
    • The Stone Shamans know all about Odium and how they came with him from Ashyn and may decide they need to be on his side, using the Honorblades against the current Radiants
    • Szeth already knows how to summon his spren as a Shardblade and we will see him wield both it and Nightblood in the future against Nale (with a Dalinar Perpendicularity fueling it)
  4. I really love Lift as a character. Her lines of thinking are pretty funny to me as well as how she stumbles, literally and figuratively, into the right place and the right time. She's been one to be a free spirit, pretty much unattached to anyone or anything other than Gawx, but even then not necessarily beholden to Azir. She has shown up at random times and has a set of powers, thanks to Cultivation, that no one else has or (yet) understands. That being said, I guess I find it interesting that she seems to have joined Dalinar's coalition. She traveled with them to Hearthstone and also appears to be part of the Edgedancer group. She actually takes instructions from Kaladin without question when he tells her to turn off the Fused fabrial. It could just be she was uncomfortable without her powers but normally I would expect a clever quip or a random thought to come from her at being told what to do. I'm just wondering if she has grown up some (other than physically, in spite of her deal with Cultivation) and is now more of a team player or if her being an Edgedancer just makes her want to be where she can help people so she came along. I haven't ever really thought of her being part of a group, let alone of other Edgedancers and possibly taking orders from someone. Kaladin does note that she often appears where one does not expect her, but I feel like that's always going to be Lift. This almost seems like a new, maybe a little more mature, Lift  and I'm wondering if that's what we will see going forward or if she'll be back to telling Dalinar she doesn't trust him cause of his butt again soon. Then again, we are only 7 chapters in, who knows what the rest of the book will bring.

  5. Well this answered my question as far as Adolin knowing about Shallan's other personalities. Imagine getting into an argument and then realizing you're arguing with a completely different personality.  I think my wife would kill me if I asked "which one are you"  ever under any circumstances but she seems to take it in stride and keep rolling. The implications for their marriage are pretty staggering and it's just thrown in they're like "Oh, you're you and not the other you, ok, no problem."

  6. My favorite color is green. That one's easy. My favorite magic system, that's tougher. I would say Awakening because I love the book, but I also think that Allomancy has some really cool applications as the Mistborn eras move forward. Not sure if it's counts as a magic system and definitely not cosmere, but Cytonics (and specifically Doomslugs place in it) are pretty awesome, too

  7. Hi Everyone,

I learned about Brandon from the Wheel of Time. My best friend had me start reading it shortly before Towers of Midnight came out. I really enjoyed how A Memory of Light turned out so it only made sense to find other things by Brandon at that point. I read tWoK and was hooked. Little did I know what I was getting myself into. I really enjoy reading series (kinda have to if you get sucked into WOT and make it all the way through) and so I read Mistborn and discovered the Coppermind leading me here. I can still remember when I saw where the surges had been guessed/reasoned out and thought "these people are way ahead of anything I'm reading into this" and it made me re-read everything looking for clues. I've been lurking on here for years just figured I'd finally jump in on some of the conversations.

I'm a book junkie, so I read lots and lots and constantly have a list of books that are coming out but I have to say I keep Brandon's homepage bookmarked and seeing the progress bar move is still something that makes me grin. My favorite series by other authors would be a tie between the Divine Cities and the Gentlemen Bastards (come on Scott Lynch!) although I have a ton of authors and series I really enjoy. I'd have to say my favorite Brandon character, though, is Wayne, cause I really enjoy his lines of reasoning (something along the lines of "it makes sense old people would live the longest seeing as how they have the most practice at not dying."). I would also put Hoid at a close second because of his ability to take apart anyone without really trying. My favorite book is still Warbreaker and I really enjoy how Brandon released all his notes in the writing process.
