  1. Hardback. It feels better in the hand. Plus, it makes an excellent club. It is perhaps the finest weapon you can find. Clubbing someone with a paperback just isn't the same.
  2. Yeah, he doesn't listen to what I want. He just keeps going... and going... We randomly steal pictures from the internet to make our avatars. Actors and such. It's pretty dang hard to do for Inquisitors, you know. And yeah, I actually did a word count of part one of the ball. It averaged about 330 words per post. Multiplying it out through part two, and it's longer than the Well of Ascension.
  3. It really pleases me that someone else is enjoying what we're writing. (Though some of my old stuff I would have done very differently, as well as structure the ball better) And good, someone likes Riordan! I had a blast writing the Pity Parade topic. In the future you might want to use the Continuity Thread to navigate around. We're doing some things out of order at the moment. By the way, did you know that when you read the Ball, that was probably the length (word count) as the Well of Ascension? I'm excited to see what your character will be like
  4. Yes, indeed.
  5. Yes, he's totally writing other books for the money... as if the Wheel of Time didn't pay him a handsome sum in itself. But that doesn't matter, since the idea that Brandon is doing anything out of greed is laughable. To say nothing of the fact that he'd keep writing if he never got paid from it. He does it because that's what he loves. Also, where the hell did this person hear that Elantris 2 would be out before AMoL? That's too stupid to respond to. Last time I heard, it was "maybe 2015 if I can manage it". Seriously, dude, you could just look at his site and see that Brandon's making loads of progress on AMoL. /rage
  6. So! Well, this is surprising. There's a brand-new ebook by Brandon Sanderson promoting Infinity Blade 2. Remember when in the interview with Brandon and Peter Orullian, he said he was working on something with Epic Games? Well, this is it. This isn't cosmere, nor Wheel of Time, nor... well, anything, really, except a super awesome new secret project that's released. It's apparently available on iBooks. Here's the link to the Kindle edition, but it's not up yet. I'm sure it will be later today, considering it says the release is today. (Probably why we haven't seen an announcement from Brandon yet about this) Check it out: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-10-04-infinity-blade-2-announced
  7. No Just a few characters, though.
  8. I remember that as well, Zas. So between Mistborn and Alloy there was 341 years, and Elantris occurred before Mistborn. So that would probably be another 300 years or so, I think. Even excluding the jump from Warbreaker/Alloy to Way of Kings, there's 600 years of time.
  9. Hey, if you don't break Hemalurgy, I'll probably be okay with it.
  10. Huge? I don't know what you are talking about.
  11. No one on these forums probably travels to the Mistborn RPG, but that could be because this ball has gone on forever, so nobody could do anything. Maybe you don't care, but Cycle Two of the RP is now open, so stuff can happen again. Check it out: http://mistbornrpg.17thshard.com/index.php?showtopic=503

    Shirts

I've always been in favor of shirts. It'll happen, guys. That said if you want to help with the site, there's a donate button on the About page. I heartily recommend you use it The air quotes are fully intentional in saying "soon". Shiro would make a sexy figurine, but NCSoft would probably sue.
  13. I will move it to the Stormlight Archive board since it is specific to that series.
  14. Please do. It would help the wiki a lot. Check the Stormlight articles as you're going along and that could be hugely beneficial. Lots of the data is spare so far...
  15. Wow. That sucks... Wanna do my quantum homework?
  16. Content warning at the end, but it's awesome:
  17. And I'm picking Matt and Kerry up from the airport.
  18. Do you want an eight minute metal song about the Wheel of Time? Of course you do, because it's awesome:
  19. My quantum teacher and I had a discussion on it. The answer? Maybe. Here's the thing though: neutrinos only interact with the weak interaction. As in, not electromagnetic interaction, which is what most everything interacts through. For the most part, special relativity will still work, there will probably be some correction factors, however, for certain weird cases. I'll talk to my particle physics professor. Right now we should be in "wait and see" mode to see if this can be replicated multiple times. Theorists will have a field day, though, if it pans out. Also, ahem Zas, bendalloy? Yeah. EDIT: Speaking of the neutrinos, I should do this: http://xkcd.com/955/
  20. You're right. Looks like someone got confused for that. The article should definitely refer to Ishikk, the Purelaker.
  21. Interesting. That sounds like the official name, not nomenclature.
  22. I'll believe it when it's corroborated. Still, very cool.
  23. I don't have time to respond to all of them right now, but I'll get there. One thing though: That's not surprising. Magic can work on any world. If a Mistborn somehow made it to Roshar, the Metallic Arts would still work. The Dor would be harder to use on other worlds, because it is so based in location, but Brandon said that given sufficient knowledge of magic, you could get them all to work on any given world.
  24. That's awesome. I need to call both BYU and Sam Weller's to get some. I hope the bookstore guy mentions 17th Shard to me I would like to announce that I am now an uncle to an awesome niece!
