  1. True, but in an older version, we had a statistics tab which told us how many positive and negative reputation you gave. I liked it. I wonder if that mod is compatible with our current version... I thought there was a reason why I didn't implement it, but I dunno.

    Just Saying

This is incredibly sweet of you all to say. With the growth of members around Words of Radiance time, there's been an uncharacteristic amount of disciplinary action required of us, and that's made me feel down a bit. It makes me ridiculously, unspeakably happy that you think this is a great place to come to. It is all thanks to you. This fandom is the kindest, most understanding, and most rational place on the internet. It is my great pleasure to work here and try and make it even better. Thanks for being awesome. If you ever see anything that disrupts the status quo of this place having awesome civil discourse, let us know and we will swiftly deal with it. It makes me very happy that I can be as busy as I am (sorry for not being more pro-active and doing more... there's lots on my to-do list and I just haven't had time) and the site continues to flourish without our need to spur on conversations. Seriously, you guys deserve all the credit for being awesome, not us.

    Tap A Talk

In the next version of IPB, I am told that there will not be a separate mobile "skin" per se, and instead the software will be designed to be scaleable across many screen sizes. They have said that all features will work on all versions now. (I am especially excited for a way to access the administrator control panel on mobile.) So yes, it should be there, though I don't know specifics. This is partly the reason why we haven't spent dev time on the mobile skin, because it's going to change with IPB 4.0, which looks like it will be a drastic change in many ways.

    Tap A Talk

I would recommend against using an IPB app and use the mobile site. The current mobile site is not great, but it is functional. In future versions of the site (and IPB), it will be easier to skin the mobile site to look great and also be functional. For the people who are looking for an app... can I ask why? It frankly astonishes me how many people don't like using the browser on their phone. My brother, an even more gigantic tech nerd than me, said he literally never browses on his phone--he's always in an app. Why is this XD Can someone explain it to me? I'm basically against any sort of plugin that I can't directly control the experience of, and Tapatalk is antithetical to that. Maybe you'll get a 17th Shard app someday, but maybe not. By targeting the web, we can build for all platforms with a minimum amount of effort. Not that we don't want to spend effort--we do--but we're an ultimately small operation and coding for one spec, rather than a bunch of different platforms, is much more sustainable for a volunteer effort such as this.
  5. There is a way to do this, but not without showing downvotes as well, which would obviously need to be secret.
  6. Scrapingtons, Eventually, the topics in the Words of Radiance subforums will be moved out of there in a few months. There is just a mandatory period where Words of Radiance content will go there. From there, the general Stormlight Archive board will be able to cover both books. This just preserves some amount of spoilers for people who are perhaps slow readers. This is not a big deal and there is absolutely no reason to be so argumentative about it.
  7. I agree too. There isn't an easy setting to change it and I hate how it does it now.
  8. My apologies for not sticking to the schedule I myself made... I am very, very sick and it is finals week and graduation weekend. But honestly, I'm mostly ludicrously sick.
  9. I've increased the daily upvote limit to 40. How does that sound? I'm not sure if that would be effective in reducing possible upvote abuse, but evidently people like to upvote a lot of things (which is good!)
  10. I did lower the positive rep quota from, like, 9000 to something more reasonable. I might increase it a bit. And thank you :3
  11. I'd buy this theory. The Everstorm is entirely Venli's doing, and I am terrified of her. I would not be surprised if this was the case.
  12. Swimmingly, how the crap did you get almost 100 rep in day? Hmmm... Grats though
  13. Interestingly, at the Words of Radiance release, I asked Brandon to write in my book the name of who wrote these. He said it was too spoilery, so refused. This seems like one of the deepest riddles of the books, to be honest. This is surely extremely important.
  14. Consider Words of Radiance. Bridgeman is a title of honor there.
  15. It's baaack: http://www.17thshard.com/news/shardcast/the-splintercast-reads/the-splintercast-reads-words-of-radiance-episo-r170 Part of it was Feather's busy-ness, but also my own busy-ness and incompetence. Fear not, there will be--gasp--a schedule now. Seriously though, sorry about it.
  16. That was Shiv, in fact. He really likes waffles, so I put it in. There are some pretty hilarious reputation levels, and that's one of my favorites, haha. The reputation scale is not a one-to-one scale of "power". That, for one, can be debatable, but also, there are rarity concerns. If it was a scale of power, then some of the truly ridiculous ones would be figured out far too quickly at the lower levels. At the level Brandon is at, we start to get some extremely powerful ones, but also esoteric and hilarious ones. You have not discovered some of the most hilarious ones yet. But look, my job would not have been done right if you didn't sometimes get a rank and be like "Wait... what?"
  17. We're back! Where have we been? Did Odium Splinter us in our sleep? Well, that's entirely possible that he Splintered my brain, yes, but it's mostly due to busy busy business on both Feather and I's part. Fear not, though, because Splintercast is going to dare to do what a 17th Shard podcast has never done: use a schedule. New content will go up three (maybe four) times a week, on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. A buffer is in the works so you don't have to wait more. Woo! (Truly, we are the most professional. Sorry :/ ) One reason for the delay was also a glitch in audio editing, which Feather warns you about when it happens. It isn't much that is lost, fortunately. In any case, enjoy more of The Insanity of Feather. (That sounds like a really bad sequel to The Birds or something...)
  18. I believe it is related to the fatal error issue. I'm sorry I haven't been able to fix it sooner, but it is extremely bizarre and I literally do not know why it is happening.
  19. Splintercast Reads Words of Radiance is back, and every chapter here is fifteen minutes long, or longer! Is it a special event? Of course it is! It's our gift to you, our loyal listeners. (No it isn't; that's just how it happened. I mean, shush, it is a gift obviously.)
  20. I can attest she is indeed extremely busy. Buuuut I will throw her under the bus for blame Thanks for understanding guys.
  21. I noticed this, and meant to ask Brandon if it was a coincidence or not :/ Sometimes there are coincidences, but here I'm not sure.
  22. For those of you who want more Splintercast, I BLAME FEATHER! I don't have any more episodes to upload!
  23. I was hoping no one would notice that one
  24. Look, when I say this is the best day of Splintercast yet--or, quite possibly ever--I'm not kidding. This is Alyx's very favorite. Just listen to Chapter 41. There are gasps and also, perhaps desks broke. It's hard to tell. And that's not all, because then you get to her totally fangirl over Mraize. It's a very deep kind of love there. Also, kittyspren.
