Shardcast: Making Fun of Our Old Cosmere Theories

You know how we say on Shardcast that we don't need rails? Well turns out we rarely had rails to begin with. Today we are taking a look at our old cosmere theories. And when I say old I mean real old, like from 2008, pre-Hero of Ages. We'll talk about some fandom history on the forums, tell you how we got into the fandom, and mock old our old theories all around. Then at the end we'll give you some advice on how you can theorycraft better. Hopefully you'll enjoy this retrospective, and I imagine eventually we'll do another one of these!

If you want a Google doc with our posts so you can read the theories in full, check out here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/10gjOYZtQG8OActlRHaaTstOy0eiS5lLZLBQ5f7ri8d0/edit?usp=sharing

And if you want an etiquette guide on how to talk in debates or contentious discussion, check this out, written by Matt: https://www.17thshard.com/forum/topic/89580-best-practices-for-posting-in-debates-or-contentious-conversations/

This episode we have Eric (Chaos), Matt (Comatose), Evgeni (Argent), and David (Windrunner), all fandom old timers!

"Interesting theory, but how does the metal lake fit in?" Classic! :D

I lurked here for awhile. I didn't even create an account until I read a terrible post and was about to come in hot (same as David, I think?). But I think there was like a full day wait time to post after creating and decided better when the time came.

Really liked @Comatose's guide, my favorite part is:

Instead of typing out the same points in different words, try to rereading your previous posts

Wow, theory busted. This clearly, proves everything wrong! Sorry, I had to in the spirit of the pod. Thanks for sharing the old school fun of TWG.

I loved this podcast! I've been reading the books for years, but I'm very new to the forums and stuff so it was really cool to hear how it used to be! Great podcast!

I've gotta say my favorite old theory was "ashmounts are of Preservation."
