When explaining to Lirin about why surgeons are still necessary at Urithiru, Kaladin tells him that they only have about fifty Edgedancers, and only three Truthwatchers, who are the only two orders orders with access to the Progression surge.

Now, this was well before Rlain bonded Tumi, so we know he's not one of those three. Two of those three we already specifically know about; Renarin and Stump. Now, it very well could be that Brandon just picked a very low number as a worldbuilding detail to show how rare/scattered the Truthwatchers are, but I do find it a bit curious that we know a fair amount about 2/3 members of the order (or 3/4 now) and virtually nothing about the last one, and I think there's a chance they'll be significant further down the line.

What are your thoughts?

Thank Harmony someone else noticed this.  I've been wondering about that third TruthWatcher ever since Kaladin mentioned this. It seemed way to specific a number for it not to be important. I'm curious as to who it could be. It's probably not an established character, or we'd probably have heard about them already, so it's probably someone who hasn't been introduced yet.  But whoever it is, they probably weren't close to Kalandin or Dalinar during RoW, and they definitely weren't with Adolin's and Shallan's group.  So I'd guess they were stationed on some other battlefield or some city somewhere.  Either way, I hope we find out who it is and more about them.

I think it will be something to do with the cultural politics of the relevant Spren.   There is only the one Elsecaller, and we know why.  There were only a few Windrunners but will soon be more, and we now know why.  There aren't any human Willshapers, and we now know why.  In all cases it has a very little to do with the mortals in the equation and everything to do with their Spren's current culture.  But I think it is telling that they are currently the most open to "Enlightenment" by Sja-Anat, and that will likely play a big part in their story...
