Mat he/him Posted September 8, 2021 Posted September 8, 2021 Craven walked in silence behind them. He was still there, though. Quote (I'm still here )

Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 8, 2021 Author Posted September 8, 2021 Martin spots a likely-looking shop and heads that way, weaving through the people.
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Quote Did you have a plan for how the haggling should go?
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Quote I've never been to a pawnshop. So either I'm going to make my search history very strange, or I'm gonna bluff. Or someone else can do it.
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Quote I mean, like... I could have Ayia magically have a bunch of valuables that she can sell for quick cash or we could make money being tight an actual issue.
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Quote Maybe one or two? A bunch would draw attention in the 'hey, these might be thieves,' kind of way. And Martin does have a sort of 'trump card' in the money department.
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Quote I mean... Ayia did technically steal... well, all of it.
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Quote Well, sure, but you know what I mean. Let's do it! Martin pushes open the pawnshop door. "After you."
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Ayia entered, blinking against how dim it was. "Whoa. This place is cool!"
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 "Yep." Martin takes a few steps in, looking around. He looks at Craven and Ely. "Don't touch anything."
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Ayia plopped her elbow down on the counter. "Alright! I have stuff and you have cash. How do we wheel and deal here?" Quote Do you want to do the shop owner?
Knight of Iron she/they Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 "Why not?" Ely asked, a bit saddened.
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 Quote Yes, but I may pass that role to you for Martin's bit of haggling. Again, never been in a pawnshop. It's 2767, I hereby declare that the word 'pawnshop' means something slightly different. "Well, that depends. What do you have?" 1 minute ago, Knight of Iron said: "Why not?" Ely asked, a bit saddened. "Some kind of rule about shopping," Martin says. "I'm not sure."
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 "Is gold still worth its weight in... well, gold here?"
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Author Posted September 9, 2021 "Ma'am, if you've managed to find something made of gold that is not only real, but also not simply overlaid, then I would be very surprised."
EchoOfThePlanes he/him Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) Quote I've been to a pawnshop before. You're already playing the trader, however, and I'm not sure that I could play a trader in the year 2767 accurately, but if you have any questions... *gasp* What? My random knowledge of obscure subjects actually applies to a situation? Edited September 9, 2021 by EchoOfThePlanes

"I come from a long line of military officers who had gold buttons to signify their rank." Ayia explained, reaching into her pocket and pulling out a few examples: small gold pins, no bigger than a pennie.
EchoOfThePlanes he/him Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 (edited) 35 minutes ago, Spren of Kindness said: Tell me the things, Echo, please! Quote My frustratingly obtuse memory is at your command! Someone mentioned earlier (I think it was you, Brightness Spren) that only a few people should go into the shop to not draw too much attention. That's alright, of course, but it is actually quite normal for large groups of companions to fill a pawnshop. These tend to be the best customers, you see, for the collective social atmosphere tends to create more opportunity for the trader or merchant to get away with more total value than you do. Friends tend to subconsciously create peer pressure, no? Might pressure you into trading for something you don't actually need, all for the sake of appeasing the hormonal hive. And if everyone has something to trade, the merchant can group things together, providing slightly increased "prices" with the excuse of it being a "discount" from its "normal price". Etc. Random Bystander she/her Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Columbia patted down her pockets to see if she had anything in them. She then looked in the small bag she was carrying. She had her Armbands, which she was not pawning, and Erin's armband, which she was also not pawning. She also had her knife, but she was less likely to pawn that than she was the armbands. She rummaged through her bag. She had nothing of value that she would be willing to pawn. Eh. Whatever.
DramaQueen she/he/neopronouns Posted September 9, 2021 Posted September 9, 2021 Queen hovered at the back of the group, just inside the pawnshop door.
Spren of Kindness she/her Posted September 23, 2021 Author Posted September 23, 2021 Quote What up, guys. It's been a hot second. There's a lot of stuff going on for me, and I'm having enough trouble keeping up with school. I don't want to drop this, so could someone take over the pawnshop owner for me?
Channelknight Fadran Posted September 23, 2021 Posted September 23, 2021 Quote Sprennie! You're not dead! I'll yeet some summons... @Random Bystander
