Mystery Mistborn

I'm rereading the series and passed the part in book one where Elend was going to be assassinated. Vin jumps in and battles a handful of mistings and two Mistborn. One of the Mistborn, of course, was Shan. I wasn't able to find who the other one was. All the info on him I could find was that he was male.

However, having just finished book two.... Its Zane isn't it? Male, Mistborn, working for Straff. Seems right. The big point against it being Zane is how easily Vin beat him, but she could have just been lucky.

Also would she have recognized him in book two if this was the case? It was dark when they fought and I don't remember if they were wearing masks?

Has everyone already figured this out? Is this wrong? I can't stop thinking about it lol.

It doesn’t necessarily need to be anyone. Straff could have had multiple Mistborns and they could have all died in the house war.

So I don’t think it has to be Zane

I don’t think this Mistborn was ever named. They are simply, a Mistborn. I assume they died during the final months before Harmony. 
They weren’t Zane, Zane was living in the Eastern Dominance during this time. It also wasn’t Straff’s Mistborn, most likely. We know that Straff only had one child who was a Mistborn, and he isn’t trusting enough to hire one from outside his family.

Yeah, I never got the impression that the second mistborn was meant to be anyone important; always figured he was probably either another Elariel relative, or possibly even a minor noble who Shan hired for extra muscle. If he was supposed to be Zane, I think the text would have made it explicit. If nothing else, Vin would probably have recognized him eventually whether from his appearance or just his fighting/allomancy style. And IIRC that mistborn got taken out of the fight pretty quickly and the overall focus was on Vin vs. Shan; Zane was much more formidable.
