Stop whining, she thought to Corpse. This is the Dark Lord. He's far stronger than I am; you cannot kill him.

The creature held still, following her commands for the time being.

Blood still dripped from the Mordite blade that stuck through its hand, landing on the floor beneath it.

"I was not in love with Axe," she said firmly, barely keeping herself from stomping her foot on the ground.

"Oh, I wasn't referring to him at all." Selil shook his head. "In fact if you were, I doubt anyone would be holding you in quite a regard."

"It wouldn't do a Dark Lord well to stay uninformed." He shrugged. "Knowing peoples' deepest, darkest secrets is something of a hobby of mine."

So all this takes place before Star becomes the most powerful Narrator in the history of everything?

Star raised an eyebrow. How strange. “Well,” she said to Corpse. The other corpse in the room was still. “Let’s go back to the Hall.”

When Elgiloy’s master returned, they immediately noticed the man’s expression. “Is something wrong, Your Grace?”

Was this her strategy? Or did she have something else in mind for their return visit. This sort of approach would only work for so long.

Besides, could they trust the figure? The one Star called "Selil." Nothing about any of this made sense to the creature, and it continued to consider methods of escape.

"Her, yes." Selil nodded.

“What were you doing with her?”

“Stop trying to escape.” Star stabbed at the things mind to punish it. “It’s not worth it.”

The stabbing was easily ignored in terms of her intended agony, but it made the creature meet Star's eyes.

“Don’t pout. It’s unbecoming.”

"We were just talking." Selil cocked his head. "And also she murdered someone."

”oh, exciting. Someone important?”

The creature glanced towards the Narrator's cadavar, the curiosity that the "Selil" disturbed returning.

Star's emotions seemed . . . Intense. Possibly harmful to her. Perhaps, they also could be used to blind her. They would have to be careful of that in the future.

Star snapped, cleaning herself and sending the pair back to the Hall. It was only afterwards that she realized she probably should have stayed longer to pretend her and Axe had.. gotten intimate.

"No. Just some common idiot."

“Oh? Then why did it draw your attention? A common characters death?”

Meanwhile Watcher turned to Grace once again. "One of them is in the hall. I could take you there."

"Please do," remarked Grace.

Xino, just to get our side of the story moving might we just assume we got the information we needed?

Yeah, lets.

Grace and Spade materialized behind Star. Before even a moment had elapsed, Grace knew something was wrong. Then her eyes caught up.

A creature, reeking of decay and death as only a withergeist could. A corpse at its feet, power flowing away like blood.

Mordite, she thought, her heartbeat quickening. She forced her hands to steady.

Star Celeste? she called, her mind racing. I have a few questions for you.

I'm curious to see what you come up with...

If you have any questions, I've got answers.
