Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) 9 minutes ago, The Ward's Guard said: Pet? That should likely anger "Corpse." Perhaps the Narrator was attempting to get a reaction out of it. Although with a quick glance towards Star, it was obvious that the intended reaction was not going to be from "Corpse." It seemed as if there was tension between the Narrators, especially this "Star." That could prove to be . . . Invaluable. Best to continue watching on the moment. Let them continue. Star had an idea. "Axe? Do you have a place where we can be alone together? Someplace the other Narrators won't care to look?" So no one will find your corpse. He grinned. "I do. What are you insinuating?" She grinned back. "What do you think I'm insinuating?" Axe took her hand. "Come on. I-" "Wait! You must take Corpse with us. My pet." He furrowed his brow. "Why? Afraid it'll get lost?" She nodded, too excited at the prospect of this man's death to come up with a better excuse. "It's new. I don't want it wandering away." You ready, Corpse? "Alright. Whatever you want, I guess." The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 The creature became very skeptical in that moment, but it was clear that either this worked, or it would die anyways. "Corpse's" bones restructured themselves on a whim, shifting under its rotting and repulisve skin every so slightly to better prepare for a swift and decisive strike. It was ready. Star just needed to lead the way.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Axe noticed the change with disgust, but shrugged it off, clapping twice to bring the trio to a large suite. It was probably in a castle on some faraway world he'd spent his whole life building and ruining over and over again. He sighed and sat on the bed, taking off his shoes. "Star, you have no idea how long I've waited for this. I know that little bug got in our way, but- How long were you with him anyway?" Corpse, kill him, Star commanded. She didn't disguise her glare, plump cheeks hot with anger. "Ten years," she said. "Ten perfect years."
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Without a moment's hesitation, the creature linged forward with impossible speed. Star had escaped because her gift of mind reading saved her, but this arrogant fool? He stood no chance as "Corpse" thrust a shard of its Mordite bone through its own skin, and directly into the awaiting heart of the Narrator.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 The black blade pierced the man's sternum, then was removed, leaving scarlet blood to pour down his front. He gasped, then started choking as blood filled his lungs eyes bulging at the sudden influx of pain. "Sta-ar..." he choked out, a look of confusion and terror on his face. "Don't you insult my husband," she said, voice dangerously soft. Perfectly calm, she walked up to him and cut off his too-handsome head. The skull rolled onto the ground, blood gushing out onto Star's hands and arms as the corpse fell over. Almost instinctively, the woman grinned.
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 "Dear me." Selil said, emerging from the shadows. "That was violent."
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 "Corpse" spun around, the blood still dripping from its hand as it settled into a defensive posture. It didn't have time to be curious over Star's display, instead immediately switching targets as it lunged towards the new figure.
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Selil reacted with inhuman speed, ducking aside and slamming a gauntlet-covered fist into the creature's face. Out of the goodness of his heart, he didn't draw a blade.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) Quote And how did he know this was going down? Star's eyes widened and she whipped around, cape flaring. Selil. The dark lord. "What are you-" Corpse lunged. "Corpse!" Star stiffened. "Selil, don't touch it! It's mine." Edited February 6, 2022 by Zephrun's Imperium
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 The creature reacted just as fast, matching the new figure's speed and hardly even flinching at the strike. Its face was harder than steel, and it used its momentum to shift into another strike towards where a Narrator's heart should be.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Star reeled back on Corpse's mind. "Stop it! Bad... thing!"
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 "Then--maybe--" Selil started glancing strikes aside with his gauntlets. "Make him--stop! Please!"
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) The creature paused, its blade holding perfectly still in midair. Edited February 6, 2022 by The Ward's Guard
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Selil breathed heavily. He looked it in the eyes. "I'm not here to harm your mistress." He said carefully.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) Star folded her arms. "Sit," she commanded the thing. "I'm sorry, Your Darkness. It's... an experiment." Edited February 6, 2022 by Zephrun's Imperium
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 "Perfectly understandable." He bowed to her respectfully. "Anyways, I'm just here because, as Dark Lord and an empath like no other, I sensed a lot of emotion around here: mostly hatred, but with a surprising amount of arousal." Selil glanced at the decapitated head. "And I believe I have categorized the two correctly?"
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Star smiled, wiping her bloody hands on her skirt. "Yes. You did."
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 "Corpse's" eyes were cold, with no emotion behind them as they stared back at the new figure. The creature shifted, standing perfectly straight, but didn't sit. It was not completely ruled by Star. It only chose to follow her because it served its purposes.
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 (edited) "Wonderful." Selil smiled back, winking at the creature. "Well, I was just curious. Unless you'd like me to stay and chat, I can be on my way." Edited February 6, 2022 by Channelknight Fadran
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 "I would like that. I'm just on my way back to the Hall."
Channelknight Fadran Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 "Oh dear. Don't let me accompany you there." Selil bowed again, but didn't leave for a second. Something was nagging on his mind. "You know... I was in love myself, once." He crossed his arms and turned his gaze away.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 "I was not in love with Axe," she said firmly, barely keeping herself from stomping her foot on the ground.
The Ward's Guard he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Star and the other Narrator seemed to hate one another, and now she interacted more or less fine with this new one. The creature's fingers started twitching, feeling the need to move and strike instead of simply thinking. Thoughts were meaningless without action. It just didn't understand how Star could claim to want the same thing as it, and yet not want to kill this interloper who was almost certainly a Narrator. She must have been lying, as it has suspected. Perhaps an escape was needed, if it was only going to serve as a Narrator's pet, or toy. Even death would be a preferable alternative to being a Narrator's slave.
Zephrun’s Imperium they/he Posted February 6, 2022 Author Posted February 6, 2022 Stop whining, she thought to Corpse. This is the Dark Lord. He's far stronger than I am; you cannot kill him.
Goob he/him Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 Quote Xino, just to get our side of the story moving might we just assume we got the information we needed? @xinoehp512
