"Thanks for the kind offer," Hyn said, readying her staff, "but I'm going to have to decline. Wouldn't want to waste your time with my meditation and lies."

She looked back at the person who had thrown the staff––Salkara––smirked, then gave her a mock salute in gratitude. Hyn proceeded to level her staff, and began smacking everyone around her square in the head.

All of the shady guy's men fell to the ground dead. The tall shady guy ran away.

Nah, you're good, man. It takes practice and time. Also reading. Lots of reading. I mostly do it in disorders or something psychological, but that's a personal thing lol. But it's a good start, role-playing always is. It's how I started getting into the writing thang. You gave me something to work with, and that's always a good thing *cough* then again, I can work with just about anything (any one of my rping friends can tell you), so take that as you will *cough*.

Hyn jumped back, panic entering into her eyes as she looked over the dead men. Her breaths came out in short bursts.

"Oh, uh... I––... I don–don't th–think... uh..."

Her hand trembled, her staff fell from her grip as it clattered on the ground. Her vision blurred, going in and out as she stared at her hands, choking up as Hyn came to realize what she had done. She clutched her head, feeling as if the world had been turned upside down. Hyn's hands shook in front of her as she tried to calm herself, but nothing she thought or even attempted to do worked.

Uh, okay. I don't see how smacking them in the forehead killed them, but maybe they were soft-headed.

Right right.

Belle hurried over to the group. “Are you guys all right?”

After eyeing the dead bodies, she looked at Hyn with a newfound respect/fear despite the emotional crisis Hyn seemed to be experiencing.

I really, really don’t like taking the spotlight and think that y’all should be given a chance to shine, but okie.

“I… I killed them,” she whispered, tears brimming her eyes. “I–I–I don–don’t think I’ll be for–forgiven. I’ve–I’ve defended, maybe hur–hurt someone, but never… never…”

Hyn shied away from Salkara, her tattoos giving a soft glow as she stared at the bodies. Every time she tried to shake herself from it, her breakdown became worse as she tried to recover. Hyn took in hasty, but calming breaths, which seemed to help a little bit.

Well that's rather hard to do when you are the one with the plot and your character is having a mental breakdown.

Oh no, what should she do?! "Ah, er, It's okay- I mean, ah, I don't think- those deaths were rather sudden, and I don't think it was you. Ah, maybe it was some, er, ah, sort of kill switch to prevent capture? Look, just calm down, okay?!"

Alright, alright, alright. Before I respond to this rp, do I need to make a group dm for this and stop acting like the DM that I am? I have a feeling it's a yes, bc I'm frankly kinda stupid when trying to make people aware of stuff outside of D&D.

I would like that, in the meantime, I'll get the plot moving a bit.

"Miss, miss, could I have a word? The Daily Guardian is very interesting in the new activity of the Counselors in the search for the Prophet." The woman came running up. She held a notepad in her hand and a old fashioned quill on the other.

Can you just run me by what's going on here?

Aight then. *claps hands together* Here we go.

One day, the Prophet––basically the peacekeeper/guide/Avatar, if you will, of Huyat––has died, and usually there is a replacement, but since the Prophet has died so young, there is no one to immediately replace her you can reference the bit of writing that I posted in my most recent status update about that. Hyn, a Counselor like the Prophet, has turned up to Validus with a Survivor named Huzh on assignment to go to the leader of the city for information on where the new Prophet might be: High Autarch Xicov Tradge. Hyn ran into a passerby and used her Counselor powers on accident, and in come Taniala, Belle, and an old friend of hers, Salkara; naturally, she strikes conversation with them after figuring out her powers. As that was happening, the local crime people/whatever came in and wanted information about the Prophet from Hyn, since she's a Counselor and the Prophet's a Counselor and they thought she would have more information and–– well, you get the picture. Anyways, Hyn said that she knew as much as they did, and they didn't take that too well. They get into a fight and Hyn somehow killed them all, or at least most of them. She goes into mental breakdown mode, since she's a monk and monks don't kill in this world, and now we have a news reporter asking her about the activity about the Prophet's whereabouts.

In other words: Leader of Leaders died, and her co-workers caught the curiosity and send Sassy Problematic Monk to look for replacement for Leader of Leaders with Silent Bodyguard. Sassy Problematic Monk goes for stroll, bumps into someone and uses her special-not-special powers. Horned Human helps her up, while Secret Winged Person stalks in the shadows. Ragtag Adventurers runs into the local gang. Sassy Problematic Monk fights with words, then murders them all with a stick. She catches the big sad. Now the local news is doing an interview with her.

That answer your question?

"How can I 'calm down' when I hav––!" she snapped, then cut herself off as she noticed the reporter. At first, Hyn didn't do anything as she tried to straighten herself to look more formal, but ended up shaking a bit more than before. Her tattoos glowed a bit brighter as she looked at the newcomer.

"Ma'am, there isn't..." she trailed off, catching herself before breaking down even more. Hyn forcefully calmed and straightened herself, against her body's wishes. "Ma'am," she tried again, gentler this time, "there hasn't been any new activity. We are just as much in the dark as you are, right now."

So two questions:

  • Where's Hyn currently and what're they doing?
  • Are the Talent powers limited to the types you set out, or can I make up my own Talent subset so as long as it vaguely follows the rules? Even if I can I might stick with one of the ones you set out; I'd just like to know the range of abilities I can give my character.

"Are you sure miss, could I at least set up a time when you might have more information?" She tries to hide a frown. She does pretty well, but her body language shows her disappointment more clearly.

1. As of rn, she is in the streets of Validus with the reporter chick. She's currently telling her what she knows about the Prophet.

2. I mostly based the Talent system off of talents that anyone can have irl, and made it able so people could have more freedom with that. I am completely fine with you coming up with a subset. The only thing I ask is that you can talk to me about it and give the a-ok, even though I'm pretty sure it'll be fine.

She rubbed her temples, trying to remember something. "All I know is that the Prophet is very dead, I saw her... body myself. I know for sure that no one knows where the new Prophet is. Is and probably when I or anyone else here has new information, you can bother them then."
