Michial let the others pass then turned around and began following backwards. He may not know much about guns, but he knew enough of strategy to know that you had to cover your back.

As you all run towards the staff exit, the glowing carpet of moss's light begin to pulse- first slowly, but as you step more an more, it begins to pulse faster and faster before stopping and growing dim... but only for a moment, as it quickly explodes into a malevolent red light. Behind you, you can hear thumping and crashing, growing closer and closer...

However, you've arrived at the final barrier leading into the staff exit, a hulking metal door with a control panel- or at least, you assume so, as it's completely covered in moss.

Mallory was panicking. Thus, she couldn't think straight. "KILL THE MOSS!"

The thumping goes silent as you shoot the moss. The moss itself seems to be normal moss- little holes appear where you shoot it, so it's not bulletproof or something. But something still feels off...

Out of nowhere, a green figure appears out of the shadows and begins to glide towards Tomrin. It's feet meld into the floor, and you can tell it's the same mossy body as you saw earlier- except now it's animate and clearly not happy.

Well yeah, but this is a magic, high-tech facility guarding high-tech, magic things. They aren't going to use normal guns. You probably just missed the part where I said you could choose what the guns/weapons do as long as it fits the theme and isn't OP.

The thing ignores you shots as it goes right through the thing, leaving burning holes in it which quickly fizzle out and the moss grows back over. One of the holes, however, revealed something shiny inside the thing's head before it grew back over.

You successfully shoot right at the thing's forehead and it reveals a small metal ball, maybe made of silver or another very bright gray metal, with a lot of engravings. Despite the power of you plasma gun, it seems undamaged and it quickly grows over again.
By this point, however, it's reached you and tackles you to the ground and clasps it's cold, wet hands around your neck.
