"'at's be'er. Just dunno how I'd go about doin' 'at."

"I'm sure we could bribe a guard or something."

"No, no, 'at be stooping to her level, miss. She's got all the guards in her pockets already, she has."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"Let's... not talk about that right now, okay?" Wendy looked down. "I'd rather just... enjoy this moment. For now."

"Yes 'am," he said with a nod.

Wendy smiled and did her best to step to the rhythm. It didn't help that she'd never danced before.

Wendy twirled again and Nico pulled her in close. "You know," he said, "the king thinks we're some sort of couple."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"The king does?" Wendy asked, confused. A flurry of emotion ran through her body as Nicolae had pulled her in; and once again when he said what he did.

"Yeah." He chuckled awkwardly. "Iv'an an' I are pretty close. After my father died, he took me in."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"I mean, I get that he knows you. But he knows..." me?

[Zephrun’s Imperium they/he]

"Oh, you're not in any sort of trouble, miss. Iv'an just pays more attention to his staff 'an you'd think."

[Channelknight Fadran]

"Does he?" Then why doesn't he know about Allivia?

"Mmm hmm. I just think it's sweet 'e noticed 'ere's a difference between you an' other girls what try an' spend time 'round me."

"Well I guess it might have something to do with where I come from."

"Where does you come from, miss?"

[Channelknight Fadran]

"I'm from..." Wendy hesitated. "Well, I was born and raised in a small mining village to the east. My parents sent me to a boarding school in Reverick, where I met some... friends. They were part of a sort of wilderness enthusiast group, so I joined them for awhile before coming here."

"And that would catch the king's attention... how?"

[Channelknight Fadran]

Wendy shrugged. "I don't know. I was just thinking... one of my friends was... kind of like you. In a sense that she was supposed to be someone else's... possession."

[Zephrun’s Imperium they/he]

He nodded. "Oh. 'at's... unfortunate." 

The music stopped shortly thereafter and Nico bowed, taking Wendy's hand to kiss it. "Was a lovely dance, mi'lady."

"Yeah." Wendy smiled. "It really was."

"So... wha' do we do now? Get a drink?"

"Well, I have a job to do, believe it or not." Wendy smiled. "But you can bring me a drink whenever. Don't make it too strong, though." I am technically still a minor.

"I think that it'd be nice if you didn't become super drunk." Wendy said, straightening her apron. "You're funner to talk to when you're sensible, I imagine."
