"Admit?" She chuckled. "You can only admit something if it's true! You do love me!"  A smile spread across her face and she found she couldn't care less that she was wandering the halls in her underwear.

Caden held his arms up in confusion before hesitantly placing them around her shoulders, "what has gotten into you?"

"I don't know, but it feels like youth and springtime. Even though I'm old. And... I lost my job yesterday. And... you lashed out at me." She laid her head on Caden's chest. "I'm sorry I thought you killed your sister."

Caden tried to speak, but his voice was caught in his throat. He tried to clear it before continuing, "what's all this? Why are you the one apologizing?"

Caden opened his mouth to object, but he was suddenly hit with the memory of Riva laying at his feet, tossed aside by his own hand. He shuddered and tightened his grip," why did you come back?"

Caden's breath caught in his throat, and he failed to meet Riva's eyes.
