KChan she/her Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 So, we've been telling you all that we would have a read-only TWG archive up for your perusal. I'm happy to announce that that we've finally placed a link to it on the forums! You can find it as a redirect forum under the Related Works category. You can also click here to go straight there. Enjoy! 3
fireflyz he/him Posted October 2, 2011 Posted October 2, 2011 Thanks for this! A lot of fond memories seemingly back from the dead.
Guest Jacob Santos Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 It would be great if you could get the TWG guy to set up redirects to the mirror.
KChan she/her Posted November 21, 2011 Author Posted November 21, 2011 That's currently being discussed in the staff boards. Thanks for the suggestion! ^^
Nepene he/him Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Sadly it seems to be down now, for me. The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request. Pity. I enjoyed seeing the old forums.
Windrunner he/him Posted February 21, 2013 Posted February 21, 2013 Yep, it's temporarily been taken down, due to the fact that it might have some connection with all the downtime we were experiencing a couple days ago. Chaos can tell you better than I.
Chaos he/him Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 Sorry about the downtime, I've restored the TWG archives now. It now seems to be unrelated to the downtime we had the other day.
BlairJ he/him Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Spent some time looking over these today and though I never belonged to them, thank you for putting them out there for our viewing pleasure. I have learned so much in the past few minutes by simply perusing some of the forums over there. It truly is a wealth of knowledge! Since it seems that it is no longer active, can someone tell me what happened to the site?
Joe ST he/him Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 They got hacked, and the admins decided not to fix it. Instead they took the site down, allowing 17S to rehost the forums for exactly the purpose you stated.
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 For the original users of TWG, the forums were a good way to keep in touch with each other. Now, Facebook and Twitter fill that role for most of us. Also, the TWG website itself stopped being used because the people who ran it got busy with other projects. For example, Dan Wells did a lot of the writing for the site originally. Rob Wells also did quite a bit.
BlairJ he/him Posted March 8, 2013 Posted March 8, 2013 Ok, makes sense. Thank you for your responses and again, I really appreciate this resource.
kkchaitu Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Hi there and thanks so much for trying to keep the TWG archives available. But it seems the pages are no longer available?? I am specifically looking for info on how Navani's notebook code was cracked by Harakeke.
Chaos he/him Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Hi there, There's been an error with the TWG database but I am working on it and will be up again Sorry
kkchaitu Posted January 22, 2014 Posted January 22, 2014 Ohk, thanks!! No need to apologize I started reading Sanderson with Mistborn (random recommendation on some fantasy site) and have been reading all his books so far. The best is WoK and I cant seem to get enough! Each time I read it, I discover something new and recently got into this forum while hunting for TWG posts . Thanks again for working hard to keep the TWG archives!!
Delightful Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 Was TWG like an older version of 17th Shard, or something else completely?
Joe ST he/him Posted January 23, 2014 Posted January 23, 2014 It was a similar idea, but somewhat more general. I think it was just a chat forum, with boards for the authors that hung out there (Brandon, Dan Wells, others?)
kkchaitu Posted February 19, 2014 Posted February 19, 2014 (edited) Hey Chaos, I was wondering if you had any luck with this . Sorry for bugging ya but after reading wetlander's article (http://www.tor.com/blogs/2014/02/reflections-of-radiance-spoiler-free-reactions-to-brandon-sandersons-words-of-radiance), more specifically the point copy-pasted below, I have a feeling that more people might want to check these out . "Okay, I sure hope someone can decode this, because I’ve tried, and tried, and tried, and I’m clueless.(How’s that for a way to start the list? Cryptographers, prepare! Or possibly, beware.)" While I have not spent time on websites or databases, I have some experience with them. So if you think an extra hand could help, do let me know. Edit: hightlight the copy-pasted information.
