I assumed he was seeing the Pattern bond, but Shallan had already deadeyed Testament at that point and now we know Pattern wasn’t bonded yet. So what did a Wit see? Can he see a deadeye bond or did he detect something else? Anyone have any thoughts? Edited December 27, 2020 by teknopathetic 2

Or maybe he recognized her as daughter of a ghostbloods member? I don't know how important Shallan's father was in the orginization

Heck, what are the chances Hoid was around to see a deadeye bond when they first even happened (if there even is a deadeye bond that can be seen with investiture).

There are a few possibilities: 1) Perhaps (most likely) he can see spren, and saw the cryptids following her around afterwards? 2) It could be that, just as a radiant would be visible to him as a heavily invested entity, so would a radiant who had broken oaths? I think we have reason to believe that he would find this even more shocking, considering the recreance was so long ago, and he's been in and out of Shadesmar many times since, enough to know that no new deadeyes had popped up, perhaps?
